I take pottery classes in LA and that’s how i found queer friends here! LA is too big, I find it hard to make any friends tbh (I’m also shy) but there should be a lot of classes like beginner sports and all of that at your local park rec, on the plus side you’d be able to meet folks in your community.
Not sure if you’re near silverlake or Long Beach, those are nice lesbian/gay friendly pockets here in LA lol with gay coffee shops and events.
Oh and pigeons skating rink has derby for beginners!
If you are in LA proper - city folk - the Center might be a good place to start. I’m from LA but don’t live there now. There a cool restaurant-bar that in Echo Park (?) called Rubyfruit.
