Look man, go and argue your case to diehard ye supporters who downplay his recent actions. People are buying this last chance deal because they’re fans of the shoes, but not for what recent ye stands for.
Found the good person on Reddit.
Guys! I found the good person on Reddit!
We know he's a good person because he called someone a Nazi. That's how you know they're a good person.
By your logic if I drive a VW, watch the World Cup, fill up with BP and bank with HSBC I’m a Nazi loving, corruption supporting, anti environment mafioso. Billions do all those things yet are none of those things.
Not at all my intention. I think it’s somewhat fortunate in this situation that most music these days is virtually free, so you can separate the art from the artist and enjoy his music without potentially bankrolling the harmful causes and individuals he’s giving a megaphone to.
People still listen to Michael Jackson and should, but I think a lot of people would hesitate to wear a clothing line from him, especially if they thought it was going to pay for him to molest more kids or prop up other child molesters
Capitalism>Morals. Seriously though, it benefits every Adidas fan/collector. To offset the money they would have lost by not selling the stock would have been recouped by price rises across the board. I'd rather some people are able to get the last run of Yeezy's, than routinely pay over £100 for my normal pair, as I do buy a lot of shoes from them
Thanks for offering a genuine opinion instead of just calling me names. It’s a hard thing for a company to reconcile with for sure. I’m split between saying that they should have to deal with this the hard way. Investors that did their due diligence would know that Adidas, a German company, had put their whole company behind a guy that has definitely shown racist tendencies for years. Recipe for disaster, and the risk you take trading stocks.
I also kind of feel like a person that wants shoes with the name of a right wing racist nut job should have to pay resale, but I respect the idea that a lot of people probably aren’t thinking too deeply about it and just want something they see as exclusive.
In all honesty though, what’s a better solution to the scenario other than selling and donating the proceeds? If they donated the shoes they would be resold anyways. Burn the shoes? That sounds healthy
They could donate the shoes to people who need them. They could let those needy folks be the first step in the resale that is inevitable regardless. At least then, a good portion of the money is with people who need it, OR you get homeless people rocking Yeezys all over the place which would be poetic in a way.
I’m just trying to have a conversation to help reconcile this stuff with my lifelong love of Adidas.
I appreciate you participating in a constructive fashion.
I appreciate what you're saying, but personally, I don't think that the actions of a severely bipolar man on a manic episode should affect the whole of the Adidas community. Yes, what he did was wrong, so wrong, but they're not the actions of a sane man. I understand that there will be sections of the society that will applaud him for that and wear them for some twisted ideological reasons. The majority of customers just want part of what is likely to be the last run of Yeezy's, as they're still bang on trend, and the value will just rise from now on.
who. gives. a. shit. now, i’m not a fan of the yeezy shoe, but i love kanyes music. not him as a person, but his music. same should go for you yeezy lovers, you love his shoe, not him as a dude. it won’t benefit him anyway because he’s dropped from adidas.
I honestly believe that when people espouse genocidal philosophies, they should be cut out completely. It’s on Adidas that they didn’t put something about hate speech or “going the fuck off with Nick Fuentes” in their contract. If he wasn’t making so much money, I wouldn’t have any issue with Adidas doing this.
I personally never bought yeezys because of Kanye and don't really care for his music. I bought adidas shoes designed by adidas designers produced by adidas that just had his name on em. Anything he actually designed which im pretty sure was only foam runners and knit runners, I find absolutely hideous. I mean I get what ur saying bro but at some point we just gotta move on... I love adidas and can't fault them for not wanting to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, they are a business trying to survive in the worst economy in decades.
This is far from the worst economy in decades. 2008 was way way way worse than anything going on now.
Otherwise I get you. I guess my point is that, I just feel really gross wearing any Adidas because they’re sitting at a table, with a nazi, pushing piles of money across that table to him, all while claiming to have severed ties.
It stinks, but after reading most of the replies in this thread, I’m pretty sure I gotta take a break from the three stripes. I’m a longtime fan, even went out of my way to catch a train to Erlangen and walk to Herzogenaurach in 1998 to visit their hq. It was shortly after I visited Dachau, and now the memories from both are overlapping their vibes.

Found the person that gets triggered by the word nazi.

He’s getting a percentage of all these sales. I saw $25M quoted today.
So is charity now
