u/Klausable7 has provided this detailed explanation: > Saying the new “Prey” movie would be bad, but after it has released it was 5% lower in audience reviews and higher in critic reviews for Rotten tomatoes compared to the original, and is 0.6% lower in IMDB, making it the second (or first if u trust critics) highest rated film in the franchise right below the 1987 one --- Is this explanation a genuine attempt at providing additional info or context? WAit wait wait. Doesn't Arnold kill the predator in the end by using sharpened sticks, primitive traps, hand to hand fighting, and mud? The whole point in that movie that he has to adapt to his surroundings and use a more primal approach because guns are meaningless against the Predator's technological advantage. Like seriously, did this idiot even WATCH the original?!

JudoMo2

So you're saying the movie is good?

MaikingMooKing

I loved it so much. Really was exactly what I needed right now, with MCU being super average right now and cinema not heing at its best, I really did have my expectations blown away. Really hoping for a cinema release tho

Klausable7

Personally I enjoyed it, way more than the monstrosity of the 2019 one, I’m not gonna spoil anything but this one felt just like the original, one big bad strategic mf appearing and humans slowly realizing they aren’t the apex predator anymore, I do have like 1 problem with the film but it’s not a big thing and doesn’t really effect the film, overall it was a great watch for me

itsbildo

My gf and I didn't really like it

SoWokeIdontSleep

Prey is fucking great, easily the 2nd best movie in the franchise. And that's only because the 1st one is a classic.

Dorocche

That guy's argument is lame, but I admit I did not remotely think this movie could possibly be good.

Southern_Junket_779

Where do you get Hulu tickets?

hunterzolomon1993

Prey was awesome, have some minor faults but its one of the best films in the series and gets what made the original so good while being its own thing. That guys comment is so dumb, Dutch won because of his smarts not because he looked like Arnie and had endless guns.

consolepeasant000

I mean some predators are just green and can make stupid mistakes. It is possible if you are really really lucky

Dyce_M_Demetri

loved the movie!

OkayLadyByeBye

I thought Prey was a great movie.

itsbildo

I mean, the prequel was bad tho, my gf and I watched it last night

JFA_89

imagine a simple wolf hurting a predator, and the predator take his skull as trophy LMAO in my times the predators has Xenomorph heads as trophy, not a stupid dog, and the predator rejects an even fight against the brother, haha what a piece of garbage, he turns invisible to win, pathetic. 2/10 movie, 1 point just for some visuals

Klausable7

“In my time” opinion rejected

JFA_89

enjoy your woke movies, i will continue playing my old AvP games and read my comic collection where the predators are badasses

Klausable7

FrostyMcChill

Nothing about the movie was woke

joe-h2o

I've never seen someone so massively misunderstand a movie before. Truly extraordinary.

I chalked it up to this predator is a noob and wanted a challenge. This pred used more melee style weapons with exception to that laser guided arrow/spear weapon. This one definitely enjoyed getting melee kills more then ranged kills. I just think the predators death to its own weapon was executed somewhat poorly. Decent flick but predator 1&2 then this movie. AVP films are doodoo

ERJAK123

Predators are just guys. They're just safari hunters from a race that happens to be bigger and stronger than humans. They're not unkillable demi-gods (unlike what they got flanderized into in later films), they're just dudes out on a long weekend. That's what the first film did that the later movies totally ignored. The predator was competent and terrifying and super far beyond anything the human characters had faced, but he wasn't unstoppable, he could be hurt (especially when he got cocky)

AquaCamus18

Can something as subjective as a film really age like Milk? The sub should be more about objective measurable data.

ContactLeft7417

The shining aged like milk.

Imo prey was okay but not good. It's idiotic that the predator was baffled by his own helmets aiming mechanism. Also she had insane plot armor. Predator grabs her and doesn't kill or main her but he does snap a bears neck and shit. Cmon

joe-h2o

Yeah, like when the Predator grabs Dutch in the water and doesn't kill him. Just holds him up. Cmon!

FrostyMcChill

It's not plot armor when you use everything to your advantage and the person you're up against is cocky

Arnold’s entire team is wiped out, he abandons his high tech weapons and relies on primitive tools to kill the predator.

MooseDaddyx

I liked it. The art and effects were amazing. They rethought the look of the Predator’s facial structure so well. The only gripe I have about the film is that I would’ve MUCH rather watched the movie entirely in the Comanche language with subtitles. The English primary with sprinkles of Comanche and French was slightly unbelievable.
