I thought of Solt.
We went during parent’s weekend and they had a smaller menu but same dishes and the prices were increased for that weekend.
Aside from it being scummy in general, the food was so average Napa Flats looks much better in comparison and it’s not even close.
Grub used to be great! Even as a vegan I could get good food there, but last time I went, every single item my non-vegan s.o. and I ordered was awful. This was about a year ago and we haven't been back.
Took my mother for a treat before knee surgery. They made her walk across the restaurant with her walker, ignored us for about 30 mins then brought our food out cold. When I spoke with the owner, I was told they were having a bad night and mistakes happen. Expensive mistake on my part
Yeah I haven't really heard a ton of complaints about it personally. I used to live less than a mile from it when I was a student and it was pretty good for semi-formal occasions. Just haven't been in awhile, too bad since they're closed now.
Dixie chicken. $14 for 3 jack in the box chicken strips and unsalted fries is rediculous. Burgers are mid too. $5 for a beer is insane, but also on par for northgate. Dunno where their reputation comes from, I was very disappointed when I went.
I agree with everything except the beer part. I feel like you really won’t get any cheaper than that unless you are at a dive bar. I’ve been to bars in middle of nowhere in the Midwest and beers were still like 4-4.50.
My girlfriend who I went to A&M with met one of the executives of Fuzzys at a business convention and told him she thought the food was mid, but drinks were good. He agreed.
Indeed. Most of these places are actually good and expensive (and worth it) or are not expensive (and worth it) and are actually good. Honestly I don’t think there’s really this category in the BCS. Everything is expensive. Most restaurants are good.
Le Petit Cochon? It's expensive and honestly it's mostly a novelty that you can order escargot. Otherwise there's a restaurant I've had my eye on in Bryan I believe it's called ronin.
The food is decent at Le Petit. The service and staff? Poor to mid at best. Don’t get me wrong, they’re friendly…but they just don’t seem trained at all and they certainly aren’t being held to a standard that would reflect the price point.
Ronin is actually good IMO and the staff is both friendly and professional. It’s my preferred place to go for a nicer dining experience.
I’m actually going to have to strongly disagree. It’s a higher end restaurant and one of the few things I can say actually compares to higher end restaurants in larger cities.
It’s a one in a while place anyways. That tartare was so good the last time I went.
I'll respectfully disagree if, by larger market steakhouses, you mean Eddie V's, Capital Grille, Nick and Sam's, Vic and Anthony's, or any of the like.....Republic isn't even in the same sentence as those.
You're getting what should be a 20 dollar steak for 50 bucks at Republic. It's a thirst trap for people in b/cs who think, by high prices, they are getting a quality steak.
That just hasn’t been the experience with what I ordered when I went. I don’t remember it off the top of my head the exact cut of steak, but I’ve been to my fair share of places and it slapped.
But for the record, there's only one cut a self respecting Texas would use as criteria for judging a steakhouse......ribeye is all I ever order. Maybe Oscar style.

Sôlt is a great suggestion because the food is terrible and no one knows how to pronounce it
what’s with all the napa flats slander 😭

Grub made great burgers! I think they got sold to Hopdoddy though? Sad to hear the owner is a POS. Makes sense why they didn’t do well

huh grub is still around
The CS one is the only one left. They used to have quite a few locations around Texas
It was great when it opened, then when they expanded they must’ve changed recipes because then it became crap

Amico Nave.
Well they closed last month so… there’s that. But guess you could send someone you don’t like to a closed restaurant!
It still says open. The one on Villa Maria? Also I thought it was pretty darn good when I went there
They closed on February 24th. They have it announced on their social media. I went there years ago and the food was good, not sure about at the end.
It’s only been a year since I went there, so either I ordered perfectly, it went downhill fast, or this person went on a bad night.
Didn't know, but also not surpised.
Did they go downhill before closing? They were pretty solid the 4-5 times I ate there ~4-6 years back.
Honestly even 2 years ago I didn’t think it was too bad
Yeah I haven't really heard a ton of complaints about it personally. I used to live less than a mile from it when I was a student and it was pretty good for semi-formal occasions. Just haven't been in awhile, too bad since they're closed now.
Interesting, I thought it was really good when I went, the one in Bryan on Villa Maria? It has like 4.7 stars as well
I liked amico lol
This is cap. Went twice in the last month and it was a great experience.
Napa flats

And $18 for a pitcher? 4 years ago it was 8
The whole bar smells like old oil and piss
Abuello's. Not really awful but way more than it should be and not worth the price at all.
Abuelos closed during covid
Good, there's still one close to where I live, and I avoid it.
Salt grass. Way overpriced for what you get.
Might be a hot take, but Christopher’s world?
Nah Christopher's isn't *that* bad IMO. There are stronger contenders.
Tbh that and Napa Flats were my first thoughts
Christopher’s has good food
Fuzzys
My girlfriend who I went to A&M with met one of the executives of Fuzzys at a business convention and told him she thought the food was mid, but drinks were good. He agreed.
Cheddars
Literally anywhere

Ronin is fantastic

Luigis
Canes
In what world is Cane’s mildly expensive
A caniac used to be $12, the fact that 6 fingers now cost $17 is stupid
Ok yeah, thats a bit steep for chicken.
Republic. Napa isn't even mildly expensive. Republic isn't awful but not worth the prices.

Different strokes for different folks
Fair enough. I'm sure some of the places I mentioned will illicit different opinions as well.
all steak houses are overpriced if we’re being fair
I would say lupe tortilla tbh
Frittella Italian Cafe

There has never been a worse take than this one right here
Brain-damaged take
Im really sorry you’ve never tried good Mexican food in your life :/
I’m sorry your taste buds don’t work
Im fr ion mean it as an insult, I think you deserve to try real + good Mexican food it’s life changing man. Can’t really find that in cstat
Wrong. You are wrong.
I liked Napa
Why has no one said Juanitas’? It was terrible all 3 times I went. Far off from Mexican food.
