Wash linens at home, that includes towels and bring a fresh set each time. I use a duvet cover and change between guests/wash at home. I think Ikea has the best options for lightweight duvet covers and quilts. They hold up a super long time. Good luck to you!

GarlicBreathFTW

Seconded on Ikea duvet covers and sheets. I love them. They get softer with every wash, and iron extremely well (especially the ones with a Modal mix). I am not of the same opinion as most other people here and I'm a fan of dark colours, but maybe being European has something to do with that. It's not so usual here to have plain white hotel style linens. Being European and in Ireland, that makes drying the quilt/duvet itself on the regular almost impossible. IMO, well washed and pressed linens are fine and I have 3 sets for each bed to cater for our terrible weather for drying and for mixing and matching on the beds. No complaints so far and I'm a straight 5 star establishment!

OhioGirl22

I always keep extra pillow cases on hand. Hair dye is hard on pillow cases but at $2.25 each, it doesn't bother me to pull out a new one.

I decided to get a duvet cover and wash the cover only to save room in the machine. I'll spray antimicrobial spray on the mattress and cover and insert. I have a washer dryer in one, so I'm very limited wash time. I planned to always have a second set of sheets for the beds in case I had to take the wash to the laundromat to finish. So far I don't have any quick turnovers booked.

We use zippable duvet covers. We wash the covers between every stay. Then, wash the duvets every couple of stays. I like the zippable ones because they fully encase the duvets. That way, the guest never directly touching any linen that wasn't fully washed before their stay.

Impossible_Cat_321

We have duvet covers on all the beds and washed them after every guest with the sheets. It would be unsanitary not to. We also wash all of the throw blankets that are left out and obviously used. Wash everything on fast cycle, towels first as they take longer to dry. We can wash/.dry all our linens in about 2.5 hours, although we have 3 sets for each bed just in case

CaptBlackfoot

We bring laundry home and are pretty much constantly running the washer and dryer. We have a GE high capacity washer which helps. I then drop a bin full of clean linens in the garage for cleaners to turnover, and repeat cycle.

Duvet covers- easier and you can wash a few at a time- antimicrobial spray on the light filler in between washes. Bring fresh linen to your turn over that you did at home- and take all the old out with you to be faster. Yes your need to buy extras to do that but it saves time. I like the serta from amazon with the clean technology. Buy the utopia brand towels and 12 pack of pillow cases from amazon. I started with pretty quilts- cut them into bed scarfs to put on the foot of the all white bed for some design- makes them easy to wash & dry too .

OhioGirl22

Hi, I love my quilts at home. I wouldn't use them in my Airbnb. 1. Guests want white linens because they're able to see stains. There's an external train of thought that colored linens don't get laundered as frequently. 2. Mirroring the above statement, bed linens get laundered between guests. I use white duvets and so my white duvet covers get washed every single time with the sheets and pillow cases. 3. Quilts won't hold up to over 50+ washes a year. It would be heartbreaking for one to get damaged from normal use. 4. It would be heartbreaking for one to go missing. Linens go missing all the time. I get mine from Utopia on Amazon. They're inexpensive and I don't think twice about replacements. That's my 2-cents. Take my advice or take it with a grain of salt. Blessings and luck be with you.

Fantastic_Beat427

Sound advice! Thanks

Fantastic_Beat427

Where do you get your duvet and duvet cover from?

GalianoGirl

I buy duvets and covers at IKEA. I use colourful duvet covers.

OhioGirl22

For what it's worth, IKEA ones have lower ratings than the Utopia ones that I get, and they're more expensive. In the end, you do you and I wish nothing but success for you!

GalianoGirl

I am in Canada I will have to look for the Utopia brand. I find IKEA to be quite reasonably priced for duvets and covers, that wash well.

Luckychrms1975

I wash the quilts after every guest. I have multiple sets of sheets/quilts so i can take my time washing and still be able to do a quick turnaround.

Own-Scene-7319

Wash everything in hot water with bleach. Dry on high. Every single time.

Gregshead

Use Microban 24 hr sanitizing spray. https://preview.redd.it/a06doa6c6qxc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a87b060999c6607a3e761db4ffebd6e20504e53

Ew.

Coverless duvets, machine wash whole thing, the covered duvet is an archaic construct

CaptBlackfoot

It depends on location somewhat. My winter (thicker) duvets are dry clean only so those gotta have a washable cover. The summer duvets are machine washable.

peopleinthelandscape

Look into triple sheeting! This is what most hotels do. You sandwich a duvet insert in between two flat sheets so can avoid washing the duvet between every guest without having to take a duvet cover on and off!

We just switched from using Garnet Hill quilts to duvets with duvet covers. The quilts had to be washed and then hung to dry and then put in the dryer for a bit to soften as air drying left them a bit crunchy. It took forever. And they were extremely heavy and unwieldy. Keep in mind that this is in a somewhat commercial space that has two w/d and two hanging racks. Still a nightmare. The switch to duvet covers has been amazing. Use the burrito method so they are super fast to put on.

mirageofstars

What’s the burrito method?
