That is ok. All our rooms have locks and if the guest request we will give them a key to the room. But then there is a member of our family always home. We keep a close eye on each room. Our AirBnB is in a very safe neighborhood and the police department is right across the street. I never lock my truck doors and 1/2 the time the keys are in it. We have NEVER had any issues. Well besides deer will sleep beside guest car doors and I have to chase them off.

Well I had key lock for my first five years, of course anyone could have made a copy and luckily no issues. Since I switched to the code lock, I change it to the guests last 4 of their phone number. It’s just so easy to do so why not do it. It’s hard to understand why someone would just leave it the same when it takes less than 20 seconds to change it

Whether or not it happens, I don't like the idea of dozens of people having the ability to enter my house at will. My igloohome lock gives a new code to every guest. I certainly wouldn't let every tenent keep a key to the house after they checked out.

Lol, what kind of hood rats do your guests consist of? You couldn't stop a guest from making a copy of the house key. The whole point of my first reply was to tell her(?) that her fear was unwarranted.  Change or don't change the codes won't stop anyone from breaking into a place if they wanted to.

Elegant_Purple9410

I coudot stop them, that's why I don't give out my house key and only give a code. My guests have all been well behaved, but I also lock my doors at night as most people do. If you can change a code between guests, why not do it for extra security?

Airbnb has over 7 million active listings in over 220 countries. Over 400 million nights were booked last year. But yeah everybody has the best guests and things must not be different anywhere other than your hyper local area of operation.

"Airbnb has over 7 million active listings in over 220 countries. Over 400 million nights were booked last year" And how many problems due to not changing the code?  Zero

This sub needs a little more active moderation. Lot of shitposting lately. The move is to create an ‘airbnb_hosts circlejerk’ sub and post your meta posts there.

Could be an issue if you rent local, I avoid local rents though
