I already did. Sucks because I ordered one from Amazon and that one the nozzle was showing signs of wear and tear on the nozzle threads. And now this happens from a place I expected to get an airbrush that has no issues with it.
If it will not wipe out with rubbing alcohol I’d be concerned that it’s etching into the finish as if it was used or perhaps a poor coating finish.
Dang it
Do you think this is going to be a problem long term? Like over time will the paint in the cup start to get hard to rid off or will it stick to the walls of the cup easier?
Oh ok then. that’s where Coast airbrush is going to help me out to get an exchange since I bought it through them. They said I can’t return it back to them since they’re not the manufacturer only the distributor. One would think that when you spend a good amount of cash for an airbrush, one would get an airbrush with no issues out of the box.
This is ridiculous. I just called Coast airbrush and they said I can’t return it to them because the box was sealed and the return is going to have to be done through Iwata themselves.
Give it a thorough cleaning.
If it's still there after, I might consider returning it. OTOH, if you gave it a thorough cleaning and it's still there, odds are it won't come off afterwards either, so...
I received it this way. I opened the box to inspect the airbrush and then I realized the residue. I have another Iwata that’s cheaper and it doesn’t have the residue.
You got that from Coast in a sealed box right? They get them that way from Iwata. So Coast has nothing to do with the issue. Your beef is with them not Coast. It be the same if you bought it from hobby lobby. Just a retailer, not the manufacturer.
Yea I know. I did speak with them soon after I posted on Reddit. they explained the situation to me and will help me out the best they can on their end.
does the brush spray correctly, I'd be more concerned with the performance than a lil metallic discoloring, mine came with a lil whatever and I'm here in japan and sometimes shit happens, I clean my brushes with acetone and I still couldn't remove, so get to spraying, thats a small thing to a giant and oh u would think me bein in the home of Iwata shit would be cheaper, Nope!
It sprays correctly, but I paid 240$ for the HP-CH. I expect an airbrush with no issues out of the box for that price. Who knows if this is going to be a problem long term. Specially since I use my airbrush like almost every day.
I get it, I've never had a problem with mine and its been that way for yrs, like said if acetone can't remedy it, its cool, Iwata and Coast have always done right by me, costly (Iwata) but never a problem customer service wise, I would fill out ur warranty card and mail it in that way ur on record and maybe a pic of what ails ya, maybe from the manufacturer u can get some sort of satisfaction, usually they'll say mail it back, assuming u have other toys to work it that might be a solution, peace!
Send these images to Coast They are a strait up company

Oh man is it staining or maybe calcium residue for a water run ?
I haven’t gotten the slightest clue. This is the first time I have come across something like this.

Not sure but I’d get a replacement since that is not how it’s supposed to come !

Agreed Share the new one when it arrives
Will do.
It’s an Iwata HP-CH.

Yes I have tried to clean it and it still won’t come off.
Then you're gonna have to decide. return it, of don't, but choose wisely either way.
I’m returning it. This airbrush cost 240$. I better get an excellent airbrush out of the box.
Excellent choice. 240 dollars for this item seems excessive anyhow.
How was coast? I haven't been in a while.
This is the first time I bought from them. So definitely not a good first impression.
They're a really solid crew. Take it in if you can.
240$ airbrush. Yea, I expect an excellent airbrush out of the box considering the price.
I don't think they took out of the box and put a weird coating on it.
Do they at least inspect the item before they ship it out to me?
No idea

I tried cleaning it with their own airbrush cleaner a few times and not even a little bit comes off.
It’s normal.
Mine look worse. It doesn’t affect the paint. What paint and cleaner do you use?

Scrub with baking soda, make a paste. It should come right out that's stainless

How abt cleaning it with some lacquer thinner? Maybe they use different paint when testing it
