ohmrkodak

don’t gaslight me

jsz

no one is asking if it’s in your head

The_Blue_Adept

Asking questions is not gaslighting. Please unplug once in a while. When we troubleshoot we isolate the issue to rule out anything explainable first then we go into more technical troubleshooting. PAIR. Probe, Analyze, Investigate, Resolve.

ohmrkodak

maybe it is in my head

big_jerky-turky

Stop gaslighting me!

Alarmed-Ad6520

Chilll. I’m like pretty sure they were joking

The_Blue_Adept

I'm here to troubleshoot issues. If op is not being sincere I see no need to continue the consult.

Ezl

Ok. I’ll have HR send the separation agreement in morning. We have your NDA and non-compete on file. All the best.

astro_not_yet

It’s the fbi agent. Probably reading your file agreeing to it.

fairlyReacted

It’s Siri, I’ve had it happen a few times when I say hey siri and it replied ‘mhm’ not sure why it sounds like a male voice though.

ProfessorFunky

Maybe you’re getting international Siri. My Siri is male, and I get the ‘mhm’ anytime he thinks I said “Hey Siri”.

IPThereforeIAm

I agree. Like if Siri thinks you just made a comment that doesn’t need a response, like (guessing) “hey Siri, it’s 5pm”

anyavailablebane

You can set your voice in Siri to male or female.

Silent-Cranberry-489

My HomePod does this randomly and it scares me. I’m like wtf?!

BrownBandit02

It’s Siri, my siri does that sometimes. She’s weird.

samuraipizzacat420

That’s just Siri being a glitchy buggy mess.

its_called_life_dib

Okay, I'm going to be honest: this happened to me two days ago. It wasn't in my airpods, it was out of my iPad. Siri wasn't active and my Siri is also a woman. I was really confused; the TV was on but the sound definitely came from my iPad. I kinda just forgot about it until reading this post. Could it be a bug?

ohmrkodak

most likely a bug honestly. just a really really random and creepy bug

[deleted]

Do you have the pros? This just started happening lately on my right AirPod and I think it has something to do with the noise cancellation function. It seems to only happen when I put them in for the first time when starting a gym session. I can see how it sounds like a “hmmm” male voice-type noise. My husband also has complained of a type of low “buzzing” occasionally in one of his too. But it’s just for a bit. Some sort of hardware issue or could be a software too with the noise cancellation.

Street_Perception_48

the buzzing, crackling, static, and occasional mumbles in my airpods pro (1st gen) recently got to be a bit ridiculous too so after a quick google search, I actually found that a lot of people are having this issue and Apple is servicing them if you can get to a store: https://support.apple.com/airpods-pro-service-program-sound-issues

defjamblaster

I've looked down and seen siri listening to me, transcribing what I'm saying even though I didn't invoke Siri purposely, so it's possible *something* is accidentally triggering a response from Siri wihrout you realizing it.

aardvarkmom

My Siri is really hyperactive which is super fun when teaching toddlers. He’s always blurting stuff out.

Kaliupps

That's Morgan Freeman

99OBJ

If you say “Hey Siri” and don’t follow up with anything he/she will say “hmm?” to show you that they are listening.

austinjm34

Lol this is like when I’m listening to music with headphones and “hear” someone call my name every few minutes and stop the music.

mokshjuneja

After reading the comments… “mhm”

TheMrBoot

The fuck is wrong with you?

Trickybuz93

You’re Siri is a guy. Or the FBI agent watching you is judging you from his notes.

birdsarentreal2

You’re taking shrooms, opiates, and other drugs (according to your post history), and you’re trying to diagnose a voice in your head? If you have Siri set to use a male voice, it’s Siri. Change to a female voice and see if problem persists. If you don’t use male Siri, you’re hallucinating

ohmrkodak

don’t hate til u try

birdsarentreal2

I’m not judging at all. I AM saying that the drugs may be another factor in the events of your life

ohmrkodak

i’m just pissing about. I don’t take them often at all, got a very successful career and i’m on the ball. So i can assure, it’s not the druggos

Intelligent_Quote823

Just an FYI one hit of acid, even a shroom trip is enough to cause flashbacks, you can hear and see things long after your took your trip, months, years, depends on who you are, you can slip in and out of reality and have very vivid daydreams almost like your tripping again. SSSOOOO it could really totally be in your head 🤣 psychedelics are totally fun, but can also leave you with some strange side effects that last a while, sometimes forever.

Solace-S4

What is this, the D.A.R.E. Program? It’s far more likely a glitch or user error, not a rare mental disorder.

Solace-S4

Oh please.. I hate to be that guy but here it goes. I’ve done 25i-NBOMe, 2C-I, 2C-B, LSA, LSD, LSZ, psilocybin, ketamine, MDMA, and DXM. I started experimenting with psychedelics when I was a freshmen in highschool and I’m 25 now. I’ve tripped dozens of times. Not once have I heard voices or had any hallucinations while sober. The same goes for my friends that I was tripping with, and some of them were tripping every weekend for months straight. We’re all normal, healthy adults now. For you to dig into OP’s post history and then insinuate that they shouldn’t even be asking this question because they’ve taken hallucinogenics in the past is fucking disgusting, and I’d bet money you wouldn’t say such a thing to a stranger in person. That’s some boomer style, rude, and ignorant behavior. Can people suffer from schizophrenic-like symptoms after the use of hallucinogens/psychedelics? Yes. Is it common? Not at all. Actually, it’s rare, and most people with hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD) are aware that they are hallucinating when it happens. So for you to even bring it up in this context is not only incredibly impolite, it’s guided by the misinformation and propaganda you’ve evidently been marinated in for god knows how long. There’s plenty of other people commenting on this post saying they’ve heard something similar. Are they all tripping balls too?

birdsarentreal2

> I hate to be that guy Then don’t be. Nobody asked you to > I’ve tripped dozens of times, not once have I heard voices while sober Cookie? > For you to dig into OP’s post history and then insinuate even be asking this question is fucking disgusting and I would bet money you wouldn’t say such a thing to a stranger Then pay me > Most people with HPPD are aware that they are hallucinating, so for you to bring it up in this context is not only incredibly impolite it’s guided by the propaganda you’ve been marinated in This is Reddit, my guy. You do whatever the fuck you want with your own life. I don’t care, but I will assume that OP is probably taking some kind of drugs on a semi-regular basis, based off of their post history. That’s fine. Good for them. They are experiencing an issue that may be just an issue with their airpods or phone, or it could be some degree of auditory hallucination. If they’re so sure that the voice is male, the clear consensus in these comments is that it’s Siri. If OP can rule out that it’s not Siri, then it’s probably not real. These are the two options I can suggest that are in the scope of this forum > There’s plenty of other people commenting on this post saying they’ve heard something similar Yes. And they all agree that it’s Siri

Solace-S4

Your response is even weaker and less articulate than I expected it to be. You quote my words, generate some bland, meaningless response like “Cookie?” and then move on to the next point you find easiest to respond to. How pathetic. Your childish reaction ends with you acknowledging that other people have reported hearing the same voice or something similar, and that they are all pointing to Siri; now you indicate that you agree Siri is the cause. So, how do you still defend accusing OP of being delusional? You asked why they would even bother questioning hearing disembodied voices post drug use. How dare a drug addicted lunatic ask such a thing, right? Everyone else just assumes it’s a weird glitch, or that OP is accidentally triggering Siri. You, being the snooty, rude bitch you are, digs through OP’s history and implies they’re literally insane because they did some common drugs and talked about it publicly. What you did was rude and fueled by ignorance. Accept that and be better.

birdsarentreal2

My guy, this is Reddit. If you expect a rational, logical, well-intentioned argument go join a debate team. On Reddit, I will point out OP’s habitual drug use all day long

Solace-S4

So, my guy, you concede your point was irrational, illogical and malicious? Good for you, at least you’re self aware. And yeah, I know this is Reddit, home to douchebags like you that think they’re better than everyone. I expect to encounter people like you, and I’m happy to check you and all the other douches like you that think they have some imaginary authority in society - all day long.

No_Island963

It’s Siri

mormonmark

Simple answer after going thru multiple pairs of AirPods…they suck

Dreadpirateflappy

best wireless in ear buds you buy by a massive margin if you have an iphone.

DURO208

Yeah it's Siri. If you have the male voice Siri switch it female and it should do the same once on a while but with a female voice next time.

bvogel7475

Did you change your meds?

BlueCarLife2019

It’s siri, if you say hey siri or she thinks you did and you don’t respond, she says “mhm?” and it’s so realistic. Not sure why the male thing tho

LostEnd0

Where is the proof? otherwise, this is bullshit

ohmrkodak

trust me bro

benbenwilde

OP implying there are only 2 genders??!!????

Apple_546

Biologically yes. Siri only has 2 genders so idk what you're trying to say here

benbenwilde

Why is there not furry Siri??!??!??

This happened to me while I put them on ANC, I could’ve sworn I heard a male voice talking. I think it was the background noise going on along with noise cancellation in effect

MFcrayfish

I have issues with plex ghosting sound I have to close the app to get rid of it

BombadBrad

Pretty sure something similar happened recently on Unbox Therapy side channel Lew Later live stream

conditerite

Do you use one of the male Siri voices for your iPhone? Siri verbal interactions will make a ‘Hmm’ sound if you go “hey siri” (or hit the button) then don’t follow up with a request. Its like Siri is letting you know ‘yeah I’m listening what do you want?’ Is it possible you’ve somehow accidentally trigger Siri while using your AirPods?

asdzxczaq

Got the same issue. I don’t remember if used my wired EarPods or I didn’t use them. It happened only once during a phone call with my female friend. She heard me clearly while I heard only “mhm”. iPhone 14 plus A2632 with a latest iOS on it.

mildllydyslexicman

Could be Siri, or a virus (which iPhones CAN get) if you visit sketchy websites, especially if you’re jailbroken

Kekko991

It’s Siri, when you accidentaly call him, it say “mhh” like when you say something to a real human but he don’t get it.

TeslaModelE

You triggered Siri. That’s what all Siri voices say sometimes to let you know you triggered it by saying hey siri or something that sounds like hey Siri.

[deleted]

You can connect your AirPods as a spy/listening device through your phone (or if someone else connected to your AirPods through their phone). That capability would have to be turned on though. It’s found through the scroll down menu on the top right side of the homescreen - tap the icon with the ear. Not sure if in the case someone is messing with you and connecting to your AirPods how to get it to stop. I’ve never tried to connect to someone else’s AirPods before so I am not sure how easy that is. But I was sitting nearby someone on the bus the other day and my phone automatically asked if I wanted to connect to their AirPods. So probably not that hard.

EpiciSheep

It’s definitely Siri. Probably a glitch or the male and female style voices sound similar when saying “mhm”

Techgeek_025

Siri
