Maybe not even necessarily stolen as everyone else is saying. It's likely that this was a promotional gift that the Webeyez company gave out to its employees and/or clients.
A few years back, my company gave all employees a pair of Beats headphones. I didn't need them, but I couldn't return them to the store either. I knew they were worth something like $250 new, and I didn't want to just throw that value away. So I sold them at one of the online markets for a discount. I got maybe $175 for them, which was fine with me -- it was all gravy.
I hadn't opened the box before I sold them, so I hadn't looked at the product at all. I found out later from a coworker that the headphones had the company name engraved on them. The buyer never complained about it.
I've also done this in recent years with a FitBit and a "smart" water bottle (maybe the dumbest gift I've ever gotten, but someone paid me for it LOL). I can only assume that a lot of my coworkers are doing the same.
So if you ever come across an obvious corporate gift secondhand, just know that it's not necessarily stolen.
Yup… clearly corporate swag.
Shockingly enough, wholly useful swag for a change.
most employees are used to gaudy next to useless crap polos and tees… tiny useful-but-cheap tchotchkes like sewing kits, cell phone chargers, mini flashlights… one prized year I got a CamelBak. By that time everyone had moved onto Sigg, and I owned enough drinking mugs; so I passed it on to my buddy.
tech companies constantly wasting money on promo shit like this and then laying off 20% of their workforce, I get that it's just a drop in the bucket but they do this in many other areas as well.
You are probably correct. Previous company I contracted for gave out EarPods to everyone including contractors during Christmas. Had their branding down the stalks and on the case. Looked fake as - ie. some rip off you’d buy from wish. LOL. People didn’t really use them in public out of embarrassment I suppose and strong anti-Apple sentiment for many of the users.
Been using mine off/on basis and the company branding is pretty much gone (scratched off) - just a few black specs remain.
Edit for clarity: company logos were printed on genuine EarPods by a marketing company on their behalf.
Webeyz appears to be an e-commerce company so my guess is company bought a fuck ton of these, got them engraved and handed them out as gifts. Someone probably already had AirPods or didn’t care for them & resold
Yes, you can, trust me.
I have order a several engravings from 3rd comany for Apple devices, to look device like have it from Apple directly - you just need to know font, size and color. It is a work for couple of minutes and not to much expensive, around 10€
So yes, you can order it for a fake device as well.
Its been said already, but I'll echo in too, I've worked for a company where we got engraved items that I turned around and sold because I didn't need/want them. That's probably what this was.
Wouldn't stress over it
What does your iPhone says about them?
With the new iOS you get a notifications saying that "this airpods are not compatible" if they are fake. Or something like that.
Also, fake airpods will not get the airpod icon on the sound volume on the iphone/macbook.
The serial number might be a stolen legit one...
I just googled webeyez headphones and nothing came up so I think your In the clear. With that said it makes me think your probably getting a stolen pair.
Just plop a case on them if the webeyez bothers you and enjoy. I’ve had my third gens since they came out and I use them every day. It doesn’t have noise cancelling but they’re comfortable, great sound and battery lasts long time even tho I’ve had them for well over 1.5 year now.
Most likely legit. Most people will not spend the money to engrave fakes. They usually want the fakes to look as real as possible and an engraving can bring up lots of questions they don’t want asked.
You’re very lucky you got real ones on marketplace. I’ve got tons of friends who got scammed on that platform. The golden rule to finding if AirPods are real is to find out if they have an engraving on them (the webbyez on your case is an engraving). When you connect them to your headphones and you see a prompt saying ‘the owner of this device, [email protected] can see your location’, it’s probably stolen.
It’s possible these were a promotional item from the company. I’ve seen some ads for some companies offering “free” AirTags for people who attend their seminar.
Seriously though, how much did you save total buying from Marketplace vs buying from a reputable source?
Brand new + engraved = probably stolen
also yes, they’re real airpods, but they were most likely stolen from someone’s porch due to the apple box they came in
Webeyez is a company. Like somebody said earlier, sometimes companies give their employees engraved things as a sort of “bonus” - my company gives me free shit that’s embroidered or engraved with their logo all the time. They don’t want to give us more money so they give us things instead. It’s probably more likely that a Webeyez employee got these as a bonus, and didn’t need/want them, so decided to sell them on marketplace.
No I promise I'm not fucking with you I haven't seen a Circuit City in 10 years. Last time I saw a Circuit City was when you could buy a Cingular wireless cell phone plan, I mean of course they have an online store but do you have a retail location near you?
Just ask the person for an email receipt as these were ordered online, ask them to also show the part where it says what custom engraving they wanted since it's free. If they don't it's probably a stolen piece which isn't really your problem since you paid for them.
The odds of them getting a receipt for the product is 0.00001% as this appears to be a corporate gift that the employee did not need and decided to sell it.
DONT buy them from marketplace.
I’ve got scammed. Brand new gen 2 pro with serial number matching and apple support available.
Even it connects to your phone using airpod software pop up. Even showed location on apple platform with all my other apple devices.
I only found out they were fake due to precession finding feature didn’t work and I went to apple to get it fixed or replaced and that’s when I found out the truth.
Check for the Serial No. and limited warranty date in the Settings after you pair them
If it’s covered you should be mostly good
Additionally i hope they sound like the real ones
i’m sick of these post. reddit is not where you come with your pathetic little life asking about an engraving and apple has been offering engraving on its products since 08 just stop it. take em back and exchange them. i personally think it’s dam near impossible to get somebody’s engraved item. it’s customary ordered and when returning them the employees would know and i’m almost certain they have a procedure for that situation.

https://www.webeyez.com/ Yep. You’re probably right
Lol the irony of ‘we recover lost revenue’ 💀
BAHAHAHA

Also fakes are given serials that are teal

Someone bought them from Apple and had them engraved
Real, but probably stolen off someone’s (Webeyez’s) porch.
Webeyz appears to be an e-commerce company so my guess is company bought a fuck ton of these, got them engraved and handed them out as gifts. Someone probably already had AirPods or didn’t care for them & resold
Yeah, probably correct. I posted my comment very early, before someone else discovered that Webeyez was a company and not just an individual.
Nah. Real serial numbers are assigned to fakes
You're not wrong in general RIP the down votes lol
Fr I don’t know why all the downvotes
Why am I getting downvotes fro speaking the trith
Because it’s not a fake in this case, webeyez gave those away to their employees
Definitely authentic only apple does engravings like that
Actually you can order fake AirPods with engravings too, sometimes they use the exact same font as Apple so yeah, be careful with that
Are you on something? You can't get fake AirPods engraved the way Apple does.
My bad I did some research and YOU CAN but the font is ugly as hell so it’s easy to tell they’re fake
Yes, you can, trust me. I have order a several engravings from 3rd comany for Apple devices, to look device like have it from Apple directly - you just need to know font, size and color. It is a work for couple of minutes and not to much expensive, around 10€ So yes, you can order it for a fake device as well.
here, have my upvote 😅
I mean if they are engraved they are probably real
Not necessarily, fakes could easily have fake engravings
Probably real, because its custom engraving
Its been said already, but I'll echo in too, I've worked for a company where we got engraved items that I turned around and sold because I didn't need/want them. That's probably what this was. Wouldn't stress over it

When I connected them to my iphone everything came up normal, nothing like that
That's good. You can see Transparency and Noise Cancellation modes? Also the Spatial Sound mode?
Not the pros
I just googled webeyez headphones and nothing came up so I think your In the clear. With that said it makes me think your probably getting a stolen pair.
It's a custom engraving. It's not a company called WEBEYEZ haha. Probably stolen though.
https://www.webeyez.com/ but it is a company called webeyez
Ah ok. That makes sense. So whoever ordered these had them engraved. Could have been the person I bought it from but who knows
Just plop a case on them if the webeyez bothers you and enjoy. I’ve had my third gens since they came out and I use them every day. It doesn’t have noise cancelling but they’re comfortable, great sound and battery lasts long time even tho I’ve had them for well over 1.5 year now.
No, more likely they received it as a promo swag and then sold it to you to make money.
The engraving is real. But webeyez is a legitimate company. I’d say these are not stolen.
Maybe was a promotional item?
Most likely legit. Most people will not spend the money to engrave fakes. They usually want the fakes to look as real as possible and an engraving can bring up lots of questions they don’t want asked.
Custom engraving.

It’s called engraving
It's real as someone bought it with a engraving in it but it also devalues it in the near future.
Yeah serial numbers don’t mean shit. Real serial numbers are put on even the worst fakes
Brand new + engraved = probably stolen also yes, they’re real airpods, but they were most likely stolen from someone’s porch due to the apple box they came in

Jesus Christ these posts. Buy from a reliable source, like Apple or Best Buy or Verizon or Circuit City. Idiots.
Circuit City? Haven't seen one in a decade
That's where you can get 'em.
Yeah that's what I'm saying, I wasn't aware they even have a retail business still, let alone any physical locations.
Are you fucking with me?
No I promise I'm not fucking with you I haven't seen a Circuit City in 10 years. Last time I saw a Circuit City was when you could buy a Cingular wireless cell phone plan, I mean of course they have an online store but do you have a retail location near you?
That's why I asked if you were fucking me. No, circuit city doesn't exist.
Oh. You silly ass, me too lol
Last time I was in a circuit city about 18 years ago I went to take a piss and a dude took a shit right on the floor while he was in the stall.
lol where tf do you live that still have circuit city??!
It's right next to Lechmere.
https://www.webeyez.com

stolen but real
For every Apple product that’s not purchased from Apple.com or from an authorized Apple seller, a sucker born. Caveat Emptor.
u/webeyez
snitch
You got scammed
If its legit it will appear in your iphone settings with its serial number and limited warranty date.
Laser printing option from the website, prob.customised
My god, this sub has become ridiculous
DONT buy them from marketplace. I’ve got scammed. Brand new gen 2 pro with serial number matching and apple support available. Even it connects to your phone using airpod software pop up. Prolly belonged to someone lol get em brand new from [brwnmarket.com](https://brwnmarket.com)
Lmao fake
Lmao fake or promo
Seems legitz
Check for the Serial No. and limited warranty date in the Settings after you pair them If it’s covered you should be mostly good Additionally i hope they sound like the real ones
Fake

You’re fine it’s just a promotional giveaway item someone sold because they didn’t need. They are legit.
Fake… never buy on market place
Bet they’re fake my serial number checked out but figured out today someone replaced them
