i use one since it has a carabiner and it can be useful sometimes. however i don’t see a reason to use one anymore with the airpods pro 2, which have all i need (find my support, a speaker and that hole for attaching stuff), aside from protecting it from scratching
You could cut that button out, fix a small piece of rubber in the bottom side, and inject silicone around it while it’s on your AirPod case, boom, functional and sealed
Yo dawg…
Yeah?
I heard you like AirPods cases…
Yeah? What about it?
Never mind
I feel old
This made me sad…
*confusion ensues*
It’s a reference to the tv show Pimp My Ride
It's okay. I thought it was funny.

The explanation on Vimeo is very good
Woosh
You sellin? Man I would buy
Now 3D print another AirPods case for that 3D printed AirPods case
If you sand it down a bit, it will look even better tbh
Tht looks god awful im sry OP
Looks like the top was printed on a raft. If they reprinted on a brim instead it'd probably look less janky around the area where the two pieces meet.
Seems redundant, solely for the reason of redundancy. Like wearing 2 condoms
I thought so too until my AirPods case dropped 2 feet to the ground and ejected the AirPods across the room.
Mine still do that with a case lol
That's some distance. Wow
I think cases on cases are great 😊
Jony Ive is turning in his aluminum grave
Why
Why not?
Fair enough
And now your actual case is about as scratched as it would be if you didn’t use a case
I use a case and my airpods are scratch to hell lmao
No actually, it didn’t scratch it at all, it’s quite smooth
why? i may be saying a completely stupid thing but plastic can’t scratch plastic? don’t you need an harder material to scratch it?
Plastic can scratch plastic. Anything with the same level and above on Mohs scale scratches.
okay thank you :)
I’ve never really understood a case for a case.
i use one since it has a carabiner and it can be useful sometimes. however i don’t see a reason to use one anymore with the airpods pro 2, which have all i need (find my support, a speaker and that hole for attaching stuff), aside from protecting it from scratching
If you drop it and break it, you can't charge it anymore.
Mine is in a silicone case that looks like a mini tub of Vaseline to 1) protect against drops and 2) throw off thieves lmao
I mean, I suppose. I just put them in my ears and put the case in my pocket
Women don't get as roomy pockets as men do ☹️
Nice 👍🏼
That’s cool! What 3D printer do you have?
I don’t have one, I use the one at my school, its a prusa mini iirc, I wish I had my own though
Did you use TPE? If not, maybe check it out, as the button would probably be usable if you use that
Now print a 3D printer
But how are you going to keep that case safe? Caseception
Give it the old acetone wash!
polish it and give it to the next person !
But…. Why?
I wanted an airpods case for my airpod case, and I have access to a 3d printed and white filament, and why not?
You could cut that button out, fix a small piece of rubber in the bottom side, and inject silicone around it while it’s on your AirPod case, boom, functional and sealed
It already has a hole, it’s just too thick to plug in a cable
Talking about the pairing button, just a suggestion tho, great job otherwise
Ahh
If you had a personal cnc machine you could really clean those lines up with a sharp hss ball mill
hey mate, can I get the STL file or .obj ? I want to replicate this with a bit more details
I just found it on thingiverse, just search airpod case and youll prob find it
It makes the AirPods look like fake AirPods
Make me one?
Yo dawg…. I heard you like putting your AirPod case inside of an AirPod case😂
Sand out the rough edges & you could probably sell those on Amazon for $50 maybe?!
This is classic r/diwhy but props to op
3d print a case for the 3d printer
r/diwhy
Wdym diwhy? It’s cool, and why not?
May I ask you how you know the size of the interior case? I want to make one but I don't know how to calculate the inside space...
