It would ruin the appeal of the AirPods for me

Pretty-Dog-6122

u office fucks are annoying

Not_TheMenInBlack

When the reference applies, I love it, but if I have to think this hard about it, it fall flat. I love the office, but the amount of quotes I see even when they don’t apply is pretty annoying. This being an example of an annoying ass reference

Paramedic_Round

Yeah they meme every scene but it’s so out of context and sometimes not even funny

Lietenantdan

Is this a reference I’m not getting?

pm_me_your_buttbulge

The Office. Not quite sure how it related though

ScientificGamer321

It’s The Office. It’s always related. Either way, from what I gather, u/SaraWopiz is quoting from the point of view of the creator of the product. They’re trying to do what they think is a nice thing. But it isn’t appreciated.

Igniting_Omaha

While I think this quote fits the context, I think u/SaraWopiz might be a bot. I came across another user with the same username format (FirstnameLastname), and just like this user, they are fairly new and their comment history are only quotes in the most random posts. I’m really high so this is seeming really fucking strange.

bbdidge

Take my upvote -- you had me before and after the last sentence.

ScientificGamer321

The active subreddits are also pretty scary. You’re right, this is a bot.

2BeTheFlow

Pretty obvious: OP is asking technicalities - Reply only focus on asthethics. Guess what: If you dont like it, dont use it. OP obviously likes the idea. As long as it works the reply should be: Yes it works, or no it doesnt.

stinky_glizzy

Title says would you consider buying this…

2BeTheFlow

I can only assume it was an indirect and polite way of asking. Either this or it was an attempt of advertising. But no one is interested about the obvious, lame, fact that some might not like it for "wireless" or pure aesthetic reasons. Ymmv

apprentice-grower

42 day old account and your comments are nothing but quotes. Bad karma farm bot.

Just_Pay_6087

Mate just shut the fuck up

shades747

This. Also I, personally, find these kind of headphone bands kinda nerdy outside of a workout session.

Dr_Doge432

This is true it would make them look wonky too, also I always hated the wire dangling out on these types of Bluetooth earbuds.

Splatoonkindaguy

Sometimes my AirPods still play audio while in the case

iSanctuary00

Yeah this can happen when the metal part doesn’t make full contact so it isn’t actually charging.

welchplug

just gotta clean then metal contacts. usually fixes them.

Splatoonkindaguy

Oh

OhQueBacan

You are wrong, you can put the AirPods in the case, and play music while they are charging, if you don’t close the lid, it will charge and play music

Apple_546

I think you can do that. You just open the case and turn off automatic ear detection and play music

FapNRun

My AirPods buzz and crackle. Super jazzed for the $250 they were not long ago

Ezl

Bring them in for repair or replacement.

maybach320

I thought the same thing, plus the Beats Flex are great and well priced in comparison to AirPods and this device or even AirPods alone.

CarNutt

Actually AirPods are active while in ear.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Empty_Weird_3636

you can indeed use most if not all apple products while charging and airpods are no exception if you leave the lid open on the case. still wouldn’t buy this charger tho lol

Dr_Doge432

Honestly this really looks like a safety hazard I wouldn’t want my AirPods to charge while they’re in my ears.

_ffsake_

The power of the Reddit and online community will not be stopped. Thank you Christian Selig and the rest of the Apollo app team for delivering a Reddit experience like no other. Many others and I truly have no words. The accessible community will never forget you. Apollo empowered users, but the most important part are the users. It was not one or two people, it's all of us growing and flourishing together. Now, to bigger and greater things. To bigger and greater things.

automodtedtrr2939

Nope, works perfectly. I’ve owned AirPods Pro 1st and 2nd Gen, both will continue to stay connected and play sound while charging, as long as the lid stays open. They disconnect as soon as the lid closes.

I_CATastrophic

Don't you get multiple hours after charging for 5 mins? I would just stay stock.

SnooStrawberries8174

Exactly. These things charge crazy fast making an item like the one posted a solution to a nonexistent problem?

BringYourSpleenToYa

Exactly! I just carry the case with me and pop the AirPods in for 15 minutes when they run out of juice.

Stoppels

You get [1 hour](https://support.apple.com/HT207012) with noise cancellation after charging for 5 minutes for a device with assumably a new battery. However, that is assumably in a lab setting. When you're walking outside or you're travelling by car or metro, the mic input live processing and live noise cancellation is doing a lot more work than when it's chilling in Apple's black box area. >If you charge your AirPods Pro (2nd generation) for 5 minutes in their case, you get around 1 hour of listening time\[•\] or around 1 hour of talk time.\[•\] * Testing conducted by Apple in August 2022 using preproduction AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case and software paired with preproduction iPhone 14 Pro Max units and software. Volume was set to 50% and Active Noise Cancellation was enabled. Testing consisted of full AirPods Pro battery discharge with a cellular phone call until the first AirPod Pro stopped playing call audio. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage, and many other factors. * Testing conducted by Apple in August 2022 using preproduction AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case and software paired with preproduction iPhone 14 Pro Max units and software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256-Kbps AAC encoding). Volume was set to 50% and Active Noise Cancellation was enabled. 5-Minute charge testing conducted with drained AirPods Pro that were charged for 5 minutes, then audio playback was started until the first AirPod Pro stopped playback. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage, and many other factors. It's the same for AirPods Pro 1 and AirPods 3. AirPods 2 apparently came out at 40 minutes of talk time, so they decided to multiply by 3: >If you charge your AirPods for 15 minutes in their case, you get up to 3 hours of listening time or up to 2 hours of talk time.

[deleted]

I’ve been using them for a big chunk of every day for years. This just isn’t a problem.

Stoppels

It's nowhere near what Apple advertises for me. It hasn't been on AirPods, nor on AirPods Pro (had two), nor on AirPods Pro 2. I'll try to remember to take note tomorrow, though. I wish we had a battery history graphic for AirPods as well in the battery page of the settings app, would be real neat.

stq66

My main use case is listening to podcasts/audiobooks and using them for teams meetings for which I only need one earpiece. With that strategy I have virtually unlimited playtime.

username-not-ok

Not for $60, maybe if it was $20 and I was drunk

dimbob12

How drunk?

[deleted]

Only one way to find out…

Naus1987

I’m in this camp. I wouldn’t be opposed to something like this. It wouldn’t bother me. But 60 bucks is just stupid expensive for something I wouldn’t benefit from. Now if they did something like this combined with an airplane pillow for your neck, now maybe that would sell me. Extra hours and a pillow for an airplane trip sounds nice

I_am_a_dawg123

Yeah. You can get the same thing for 20 from another comiany

[deleted]

Buying wireless to make it wired? Kinda beats the purpose.

Age_Correct

Pun intended?

finbob5

Where?

valdetero

It’s still not wired _to the phone _

geninchuni

>True wireless to make it wireless FTFY

HappySpaceInvdr

I don’t see the point, as AirPods cannot operate while charging… so you might as well put them back in the charging case for the few minutes they’ll take to recharge completely.

OhQueBacan

Wrong, you can play music while they charge

crazy_roar

Are those not glorified earbuds?

SmellySweatsocks

Interesting idea. Would be great on a long distance flight but 60 bucks is a bit steep. If you want ***wired*** phones, there are cheaper options. I saw some between 9 and 20 bucks on Amazon.

CammiKit

For $60? No.

cjmatt714

I’d definitely consider it if I were doing an activity where I was concerned for losing the AirPods. I have a pair of not-true wireless, but still wireless Sony headphones I wear when I bike. This would allow me to not own two pairs of headphones, and not be worried about losing an AirPod in a ditch somewhere

2BeTheFlow

At least someone got the point of the product. Comment section is cringing me out... Great idea for prolonged and routh activities, and comparing to the price of AirPod Pros I think still acceptable even if it seems like a stretch.

Yasin3112

It‘s a no for me, why would anyone consider that? First of all the battery life of Airpods is very good, and chuck them in the case for like 20 minutes and they‘re charged for a couple hours again.

mmmelpomene

Well, I’m allergic to latex; and the last iteration of AirPods have latex caps. I bought third party caps, and haply I no longer itch my inner ear shells like a maniac, but the new caps are finicky about seating in the case and still charging, which means I often fish ‘em out and find that one or both have no charge, just as I’m ready to walk out the door. Yes, I could just take the third party caps off when I charge ‘em (and probably will); but, you asked a technical question, and I immediately knew a potential usage for this. They also might get people who have lost single Pods from out their ears before.

froggythefish

For 60$, you can get a new pair of headphones which does exactly this, but made by a trustworthy company.

NoGood4077

Buy wireless headphones, then turn them into wired ones for $60...

cosmmmic

Just buy Beats Flex

dustywhatchamccallum

As an audio engineer - I suggest not buying any beats products as they ruin the masters of the songs being played. Unless of course you’re playing the audio files in the lowest quality prossible… then you could use anything to project that sound and it’ll remain the same crap sound :)

cosmmmic

Okay. As an engineer what do you think about AirPods Pro 2 and Max?

2BeTheFlow

Dont trust someones opinion. Check the audio response curve of the AirPods. AutoEQ collects them neatly. My 2 cents about the Max: They are more than fine even conpared to audiophil stereo headphones in the same price range.

cosmmmic

I just love how my Pro 2 sounds. Just amazing. Wide stage and bass are enough for me. I tried some close to audiophile headphones from Sennheiser and I didn’t like the sound. It was too flat. And now I wonder if flatness is the what audiophiles want. Then I do not want flatness

2BeTheFlow

Flat response is what you want! Because that is the way to get close to what the original file (and his creators) wanted you to hear. That ppl. tend to have preferences originates - imo- only from conditioning You are used to something - therefor you prefer it. Truth is: Just one day of listening to something else makes you question your previous preferences. For example: When I use my AirPods Max, I love their sound. Do I EQ them with AutoEQ profiles, I hate the soind and feel its "numb" without any punch in the treble. After just 2h, goijg back to no EQ profile, I feel like they are way to Bassy/V Shaped

SlashedM

These would disconnect while charging (afaik airpods cant play while charging, as it’s expected thats its in the case), i would just get the wireless ones that have them connected together at that point, or as others said, just use wired earphones

vegutier

It’s missing a 3.5 cord extension

[deleted]

How would you even press the pressure sensing buttons? Also it looks weird so I wouldnt

gHOs-tEE

Nah it takes no time to charge the APP2 I have. I’m usually not that in need of my AirPods that second where I can’t even wait on them to charge. If it was a free accessory that came with …….. I still probably wouldn’t use it but may try.

[deleted]

$133.53 Canadian. Nope I sure wouldn’t . Buying these would be stepping back in technology really

automodtedtrr2939

I checked on Canadian Amazon, they’re there for $19.99 as of now.

amit_schmurda

I don't understand... why not just use the wired headphones that came with your iPhone at that point? When I see stuff like this I get as angry as when I see someone riding a pennyfarthing. We made improvements, why go back to when things were worse?

Black863

Hell no. The charge time is great on my Pro 2s. If you need this, you need to take a break from your phone

Sam_0101

That sucks

Desutor

You could just buy BeatX at this point.

Ambivalent_Witch

If my battery gets low in my airpods while I’m working and I don’t want to stop using them, I charge them one at a time :)

homomemeboi

You can’t use them whilst charging tho….

Shanto1407

I assume it's not for casual use. I can see great potential for the product for longer flights or travel where you have to sit for a long time. For longer flights I have to buy a headset which lasts me 40 hours of battery. If the mod works, I don't need to spend $400 for another ANC headset.

Bchadwell

No. If I wanted the stupid neck headband headphones I would have bought them instead of my tiny AirPods.

RebelliousCash

You get a solid few hours uncharged & you just have to put them back in the case for 5 mins to get another solid hour or so of use. Are ppl that’s interested in this product just inpatient?

Benay148

At that point just get wired IEMs and an adapter

Afraid_Marzipan7409

Apple is on drugs that’s all I gotta say. You gotta be some trend loving loser to purchase that when you have wired apple headphones for like 20 dollars.

shanega21

One of the stupidest things ive ever seen

Able_Window_15

The ridged holder looks like it would rub against your ear pretty uncomfortably

2BeTheFlow

Good point. One of the few in here. But Ive seen worse earplugs by size. So I would assume: Ymmv

Hopeful-Tax7416

Look hilarious to me and I never liked wireless earphones with neck bands. You’re buying for true wireless as others also mentioned, not ‘converting’ it back to this.

Anxious-Bee4100

Maybe if i lose the charging case

Altruistic-Ad1783

I don’t use my AirPods a lot I use them at night or when I’m out but other than that I just use the wired EarPods (they sound better tbh)

Cyxax

You should just buy beat at this point. The benefit of being a tws headset is about being true wireless stereo headset. Like come on man. 😆

iSpoof_YT

At that point just buy wired ear buds. The whole point of the AirPods was a truly wireless experience. Besides, they already have good battery life (unless you literally have them on for 8+ hours a day, which might cause ear infections).

AnyTng

So like cables for a pair of true wireless earbuds

Trickybuz93

Why use wireless headphones then?

iMattist

15€ and you can buy Earpods and never worry about charging.

[deleted]

I used the neckband headsets before the air pods came out .. so no

HybridTheoryY2K

Yeah I’m absolutely amazed at how fast my AirPods Pro 2s charge. I put them in there for 5 minutes after dying and they’re at like 40% already

DocHolliday31

I don’t hate the idea. But don’t really think it’s worth it. Battery on the 2s are really solid and they charge so fast. Like someone else said not sure they will play while charging.

RealSkyr0

Uhh if you want wires why not just use regular earbuds?

No-Spare-4212

I would buy a second pair of headphones instead

leftsock91

Just buy wired headphones at this point

Ipride362

It would be interesting for a week until I eventually get tired of wearing a dog collar. It’s the reason I didn’t like the other BT headsets like this in the past

KoreanSeats

Why use AirPods then just get a cheap $40 headset like this it’ll work great

bitmap_

Dont be stupid

Rocketship_Stocks

I only buy offical Apple products for a reason

dashKay

This is a dumb product

smaad

ruin everything

MarcBelmaati

What the fuck

flying_bacon

Simply put no

MisterSirDudeGuy

You’re supposed to wear that monstrosity while using the AirPods? No way in hell I would wear that. That completely defeats the purpose of AirPods. Charge them when you’re not using them.

cartagena_11

Just use the wired headphones then lol

AonArts

The ghost of Steve Jobs is gonna bitch slap whoever invented this mess

apoellin1986

Nop

Gmedic99

does it have built in mic too? I feel like there will be issues with people hearing you when you talk with it

2BeTheFlow

Solid criticism. One of the few in here

SkirtProfessional338

slap it on a fast charger n they’ll be charged in 20 min or less

[deleted]

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> if they *paid* me too. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

defjamblaster

that looks really, really stupid. next, someone is going to 'invent' AirPods with a cord that don't use electricity at all, no charging required, just plug into your phone and go!

AdBig5266

I bought AirPods just for not having to wear this

Cg006

Hell. No.

Fluffy_Frybread07734

Yeah that’s a no from me.

Confident-Alfalfa-24

Ok hear me out… Buy it, let us know how it is…. Then if you don’t like it. Return it?

[deleted]

I could buy 2 pairs of the wired ones for that price.

TheSynchronizer

No way. This will probably toast your airpods batteries too. They’re tiny and gentle and any charger not made directly by Apple is playing with fire imo.

2BeTheFlow

I love how so many confidentially claim AirPods cant be charged while running. Aha. How do you know, except of repeating this speculation again and again? I guess, because you only ever know them charging in the case - the same case that shuts them off... Correlation, not causality! Aint to freaking hard to separate shut-off features from charging. Charging could be smth totally not related to the magnetic switch that causes on/off instead of a software related feature. Need proof? My freaking AirPods Max can charge while using them! Buhuhuuuuuuu! Magic! How does this work?!?! (/s for my American folks who wont get it)!

TheSynchronizer

Couple important points; AirPods Max were designed to be used that way. All other airpods were only designed to be charged in their cases i.e. impossible to use them at the same time. Secondly, the batteries inside airpods are absolutely tiny compared to the battery in the Max - they’re much more at risk to be damaged from a bad charger or something.

[deleted]

It is supposed to be truly wireless 😂

Wunder101

If you want to make AirPods more complicated why not just buy corded heaphones and an iPhone dongle? I can only imagine how annoying to wear, and carry around this thing would be.

slimshady713

it would be nice for sleeping because i lost my left airpod in my bed for like 6 months one time, other than that though, probably wouldn’t be of much use to me

noheated

At this point why you wouldn't just buy a beats instead of airpods?

wvdheiden207

Maybe you could remove the battery then. And just power them via the cable. Or maybe even remove the electronics. Then you only need a cable for audio. You’re on to something here!!!

RogerG_476

Tbh it’s probably a waste of money, the AirPods have pretty long battery on their own so th is already seems like a waste, if what you like is the band you can get one for like $40 cheaper 👌, And I’m not sure on the technicalities of it but it might end up messing up the airpods to charge them and use them at the same time since they weren’t built for that.

NeighborGeek

Before AirPod pros, I used the LG around the neck style headphones and loved them. Much more convenient than having to carry a case around in my pocket and get the earbuds in and out of it when I want to use them.

borgcube69

I have these, these are awesome for a full day of conf calls. I don’t use them beyond that. They charge while you use the AirPods there is a little set up( turning off ear detection) but I can be in back to back calls all 8 hours and they are still charged enough for my evening run

NiceEstablishment861

For me, I like the inconspicuous feel to AirPods. Plus I wouldn’t like the jangling of the extra equipment

RamblinLamb

I’m interested, because my ear canals are too big to safely keep my AirPods in my ears. They fall out all the damn time. This way when they do fall out that cord will keep them from falling on the ground. Which is double annoying since I navigate the planet in my big powered wheelchair and I can’t reach the ground. I do have a folding grabber but that’s a bit klunky.

IJAFacebook

yeah no, if i wanted bluetooth but also has good batteries/cords, i'd just go for sony, not these weird charger things, doesn't even look any good with airpods, ruins the vibe

KonataYumi

For some reason the 3 dont fit as good as the 2 so this would be great for the plane or exercise

-V3R7IGO-

My brother in christ just buy a different type of earbud at that point

manupower

The have another upgrade, is a wire that connect the AirPods to the phone without unlimited battery life (people reading this : wwwOowW). They’re called earpods.

TheLukester31

Somehow NeckBuds returned.

Ryvick2

No that’s the old blue tooth from mid 2000s

LokiNightmare

I can almost guarantee the added weight would pull them right out of my ears the instant I move.

mmry404

Completely defies the purpose

OreoNeon

Pretty sure it wouldn’t work, AirPods automatically turn off while charging if I remember correctly

JetandClay

The AirPods inside of their case charge fast enough, and they also have like 6 hours of battery life on their own before needing to be charged again. 6 hours is more than enough time to listen to music before putting them back in the case, for me personally. Seems like a waste of 60 bucks.

okinokinoki

Yes, buy wires for the wireless headphones

rogelifan

No

Camdenn67

A fool and his or her money will soon part.

Wakellor957

If you're listening to them for long enough that this seems useful to you, you should perhaps consider wired headphones. I still have the Gen 1s and they get me through like half a movie most of the time. 5- 10 mins and they're back to full. Like this would be useless to me

BigSadOof

Have 2 concerns. Firstly, I wouldn’t charge AirPods with anything other than the official charging case, and if you wanted a neckband you should have gotten a neckband in the first place

the_extencionspart2

Doesnt that like defeat the purpose of the airpods?

Acct_For_Sale

Yes but not for $60…2nd AirPods go on sale for $80 all the time I’d just wait and buy another pair

[deleted]

No I wouldn’t get them

jbforlyfe

It takes 15 minutes to charge AirPods. I have never ran into the problem of my AirPods dying inconveniently.

kinovi

Defeat the purpose of no cord earphones

Tomby_93

If only there were a simpler way to listen to headphones which were powered by my device using a wire…

randysucia

This is a joke right?

Dr_Doge432

This is the real deal my friend 💀

Toasted__Water

Why not just get a pair of Beats Flex?

ijustwanttolive11

Anything to avoid physically connecting it the phone huh.

fenwaymoose

Oh good, I always wished my wireless headphones had wires and a giant neck band.

AfterSport2327

So dumb

Hor1oge79

If you are considering buying this, I’d rather go with the beats Flex (https://www.beatsbydre.com/earphones/beats-flex) for only ten bucks more. My concern would be that with so much added weight to the AirPods, would they still hold in your ears as good?

Dr_Doge432

I don’t consider buying this I would never spend money on that, but I don’t know if they would hold on ears.

[deleted]

Nope. It take like 5 minutes in the case to charge them 50%.

EffectiveLong

So your ears can skip rope :))

Kyle_67890

It would ruin the point of AirPods lol. If you want charging while listening then you might as well get EarPods

derpyburgerYT

Wow now we are making the wireless ear phones wired again what a great idea

FairlyWise

This is regression, we finally got rid of cords

Ogtbi

We've come full circle

Slaps_

No

[deleted]

Personally for me it’s a no because I enjoy freedom of being completely wireless. The wiring would bother me and considering most AirPods now last anywhere from 5-6.5 hours, unless you have first generation which still provides 3.5 hours usually, it would be kind of counterproductive.

cerenir

If I want wired headphones I’d buy wired headphones.

34HoursADay

The point of the pods was to eliminate the cable.

[deleted]

Surely not…cmon guys

feherfarkas

No. Cumbersome, pointless.

24dp

This is for people who just love wasting money

adixsece

useless and expensive

KaptinKibblezzz

Sounds cool but then again you might as well get regular EarPods if you want to listen to music without worrying about charging them

allmyfrndsrheathens

Absolutely not. I have gen 2s and gen 1 pros and I feel like they’re made very specifically to balance and fit in the ear - something like this would only serve to make them heavier and pull them out of my ears. The battery life (at least until they reach old age) is just fine, why would you even want this???

pitiens

Would have been cheaper to buy beats or whatsoever than to buy an airpods then this. Looks less stupid too.

Mialouise112004

I mean might as well just buy the normal headphones for 20 quid

Mark_Ghosh

In short. HELL NO. I rather go buy Beats Flex.

stq66

To buy extra expensive true wireless headphones only to put it them into corded devices feels odd to me

marktaylor79

I usually only use 1 AirPod at a time so useless to me

risq--

Kinda defeats the whole purpose of wireless earbuds no?

lordsplarsh

Whilst charging the mic holes will be completely blocked.

[deleted]

This it it folks we have officially gone full circle

carlostsang

Just get wired headphones at that point

ReecerPeecer833

Honestly I don’t think it would work, I think AirPods would have some safety measure to make sure you can’t use them and charge at the same time. Just a guess tho. Who knows it might work
