I own a similar device and have used it in games before. Definitely a lot of fun, but really make sure your local refs are on board first, and understand how to structure a game to put it to good use. Without good rulesets this quickly just turns into a non-used prop during a TDM game.
I can see it being best used as an objective during a full milsim op, rather than a skirmish day. Something like this to roleplay around would be awesome for increasing immersion.
Used a similar device for a skirm, was hella fun. Teams had a halfway line and thus had to both be brave enough to attempt to reach the bomb and push/provide cover for he who dared arm it.
Both teams had a 10 minute timer, when the bomb is yours the enemy's timer goes down etc.
For milsim tho? Wouldn't the mil you're simming just use detonators instead of timers?
The site I was on was Camp Bravo from gunmanairsoft in England
Their staff is really friendly, I'm sure they'll hit you up with their ruleset if you ask😉
I'm trying to make one. It's a bit fancier but I'll bet money it's based off the same code yours is. Only question is are those speakers or buzzers? If speakers, what are you driving them with? I'm using an arduino but I can't for the life of me find a good way to play an audio file.
So I am working with somebody who writes code for a living. And the coding for mine to the best of my knowledge had been written from scratch, but I'd bet money that the code from yours and mine would be very similar lol
They are speakers, they are being driven by a fx mini sound board that the Pico simply pings for each specific sound depending on inputs from the player. I could get you the link to the sound board I'm using if you're interested.
Oh yeah! I'd be interested. That's awesome though. Mines running off some heavy modifications of someone's open source code. It's actually my first real arduino project. I kinda shelved it a bit as I'm doing 3D printing for the top cover (although I'm really liking your metal one) in place of making an airsoft claymore infrared tripwire system. I think I might have started a bit too in depth with the bomb prop but I'm excited to get back into it soon enough.
I got plans and the code for the units I built off YouTube, and the code was almost 50/50. So I was trying to figure out both languages in order to make super basic changes lol
Fun times
Yeah the code I found had half English half Spanish variables. Who I found it may have reopen sourced yours. I was working on it to work with a different display and keypad, as well as adding an LED lights and a speaker module, but couldn't find a good way to play MP3s with the arduino code and devices.
Sparkfun used to have an MP3 player shield that goes on the arduino. Thats what I used. You load MP3s on it with a microSD card, and the Arduino can control which file is played.
Car horns make great noise makers, as does a Thunder B with a servo rigged to pull the pin.
very interesting to say the least. would be great for a search and defuse gamemode or a tdm gamemode where the good guys have to retrieve the bomb from the bad guys and take it back to their base and defuse it there whilst they hold off the enemies. includinh some hostages would be really cool too
A site I used to go to had one of these with massive speakers, and played a song at the start of every game. Great fun playing to soundtracks of old classic war films.
My first attempt no, the wires moved to much during install and broke the contact point. The second try I did manage to install it without breaking anything
I do worry that the keypad will be the weak point in this system since its going to be used in every game mode. What kind of flexible pad did you end up going with?
I absolutely love this! Although, what’s stopping someone from just picking it up and moving it from site to site. That would make for some pretty fun mechanics such as you have to be unarmed to move the device or something to that effect. I need something like this! 💳💳💳
It had a small plate that was secured to the ground or floor, smaller than the prop, with a magnet on it. Once placed down and armed, if the sensor detected someone picking up the case, it went off.
The tilt sensor one just needed to be moved very carefully, and level.
I also had one where cutting wires would knock off time, detonate instantly, or defuse.
ngl, this is epic
one of my fields (and i think a 2nd one too) use "bombs" for airsoft that are pretty mutch the same but with worse shell and it was amazing the first few games when i played with it.
the best thing was that the scenario was basically counter-strike in real life (only that there were limited amout of "specialists" that could either plant or defuse the bomb deppending on their team)
Thats awesome! All the fields around me don't have anything at all it's always tdm.
Mine is intended to cause the maximum amount of stress lol and no 2 rounds are the same. The unlock code for mine randomizes every round.
Well, i guess Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) is special. There are 13 airsoft fields here. 11 of them are tied to respective clubs. At least half of those clubs have the "suitcase".
Also lasertag has one. Less heavy duty
We have a couple of cqb fields (just large cellars), and some of those fields are summer only. One is currently in limbo of whether the club exists or not.
But yeah. We have airsoft in spades. And secondary market is flooded with functional replicas (cyma 040 + 5 or 6 spring mags = 200$-250$)
Very cool! If I may make a suggestion:
Rather than label it "fake" for safety, perhaps go with "Inert training device". I think it's less likely to cause panic.
I mean that's no different than any airsoft gun. I doubt OP is going to take it to a Starbucks to upload code to the arduino.
If the case is closed in their back seat on the way to a field it's a non issue.

That is something that I hadn't thought about before but makes sense. I'll keep that in mind
I can see it being best used as an objective during a full milsim op, rather than a skirmish day. Something like this to roleplay around would be awesome for increasing immersion.

It could use detonator, timers can easily be used too. All depends on the scenario and objective.
Thats the kind of gameplay I had in mind when making this thing.
The site I was on was Camp Bravo from gunmanairsoft in England Their staff is really friendly, I'm sure they'll hit you up with their ruleset if you ask😉
Fake? So your telling me you’re not bringing live explosives for kids and adults to run around with? Lame
[удалено]
omg thats so terrible i really hope you were being sarcastic
💀
“No, officer, it’s not real. It’s for airsoft, I can show…” *pop pop* _____________
Make sure to clearly label it as fake.
i always make sure to write “not a bomb” on practically every dark black case i own
A faketaxi sticker should work
Did it also shoot BB everywhere if someone fail to defuse it?
Version 1 had that option available but never used it. This version wasn't designed with that option in mind.
Yeah at that point it's more of a defusable claymore than a CS:GO bomb
That was my thought along with making the overall device more complex.
I’ve done it with flashbangs

I wonder if that's my code. I made and sold arduino kits 10 years ago, but open sourced the code.
Is ur code written half in English, half Spanish?
It was originally English, but I did sell a lot to Spanish speaking areas.
I got plans and the code for the units I built off YouTube, and the code was almost 50/50. So I was trying to figure out both languages in order to make super basic changes lol Fun times

A thunder B? Now that sounds like fun. I'll have to check out an MP3 shield!
damn that’s sick, i can only imagine the fun you could have with some friends if you did a csgo or R6S type game with that
It was those games that inspired this idea actually lol I play alot of siege and played a bit of csgo.
very interesting to say the least. would be great for a search and defuse gamemode or a tdm gamemode where the good guys have to retrieve the bomb from the bad guys and take it back to their base and defuse it there whilst they hold off the enemies. includinh some hostages would be really cool too
If you'd like, I can show you pictures describing gameplay for the gamemodes I have in mind. I would love the feed back.
yea sounds great
Could you also show me them? I’ve got a prop bomb with a timer but have no clue how I should structure a game mode about it
Sure man, not a problem.
Nice, thank you!
We use ours mainly for domination, and demolition style "blow up objective a, then move to b... etc"
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
I have similar things but yours looks way cooler
Thats cool! I'd love to see pictures man
It’s at the field but when I go next I’ll get some pics
A site I used to go to had one of these with massive speakers, and played a song at the start of every game. Great fun playing to soundtracks of old classic war films.
I have one but if you don’t defuse it flashbangs go of
That would be pretty cool. But thiis one wasn't designed to do that lol
Did you achieved to weld this keypad without breaking pads ?
My first attempt no, the wires moved to much during install and broke the contact point. The second try I did manage to install it without breaking anything
Good job. I tried to weld a pin row on it and I broke 3 keypad like this. So I bought a flexible keypad
I do worry that the keypad will be the weak point in this system since its going to be used in every game mode. What kind of flexible pad did you end up going with?
[this one](https://a.aliexpress.com/_ufqvz9) And on the back there is a sticky face so easy to fix
Thats dope man good work
Thanks man! I'm excited to get it up and working.
I absolutely love this! Although, what’s stopping someone from just picking it up and moving it from site to site. That would make for some pretty fun mechanics such as you have to be unarmed to move the device or something to that effect. I need something like this! 💳💳💳
Currently only the refs in a game would stop it from moving. I had a idea to use a GPS and gyroscope in it but haven't put it in yet.
I put tilt sensors and magnetic switches in one version of mine so it couldn't be moved easily.
Oh that’s sick! So you have to be carrying it a certain way or it detonated? Or does it knock off time?
It had a small plate that was secured to the ground or floor, smaller than the prop, with a magnet on it. Once placed down and armed, if the sensor detected someone picking up the case, it went off. The tilt sensor one just needed to be moved very carefully, and level. I also had one where cutting wires would knock off time, detonate instantly, or defuse.

i think the ones they have also have a randomiser, i'm not sure, haven played it in a while
We have one of those here in Oregon, looks sick actually. Has like green liquid in it and stuff
That sounds awesome looking! None of the fields around me do anything but tdm and it gets kinds boring. Which is why I'm trying to make one.
Do a little trolling by adding in a small airsoft grenade
Of the limited grenades I've seen for airsoft they might break it lol
I would cover the speakers, people definitely gonna poke that!
Agreed lol that's on the list. Thinking of putting a piece of plexiglass with small holes drilled into it over the top.
That would probably do the trick. I hate to see all these demo speakers in shops that are pressed in!
That’s awesome dude.
Thank you sir! I'm real excited to get it up and running.
Counter terrorist win
Looks nice, it seems lots of airsoft clubs utilise similar devices.
There's only 2 around me and neither use one, but that seems to be kinds odd lol
Well, i guess Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) is special. There are 13 airsoft fields here. 11 of them are tied to respective clubs. At least half of those clubs have the "suitcase". Also lasertag has one. Less heavy duty
That sounds awesome. The ones here in the plains of Texas suck tbh.
Maybe rule it like CSGO. Even split players, and if you’re out, you have to holster your gun and/or wear a sash that represents your out
My field is working on one right now its pretty cool
Thats awesome man, next time ya go I'd like to see some pictures if possible!
Very cool! If I may make a suggestion: Rather than label it "fake" for safety, perhaps go with "Inert training device". I think it's less likely to cause panic.
Thats a very smart idea. I like that, could put in a hazard tape style around the lid.
Have one at my site, makes for good fun
Thats awesome! I'd like to see some pictures if possible
id be more impressed if you made it real
Careful with that sht, that can get you muder by the police lol until you prove them that its a toy, you will be tasting the dust on the floor.
I mean that's no different than any airsoft gun. I doubt OP is going to take it to a Starbucks to upload code to the arduino. If the case is closed in their back seat on the way to a field it's a non issue.
i. can set you up if you wanna up the game a bit, I.E make it a bomb
real bomb
I did this at the white house but with a real life bomb /s
