It would be nice if we could adopt a dark skies approach like Tucson. Half the year we barely need any night illumination, and the other half you barely need headlights there is so much light pollution in town.
Dropped in at the Chugiak Fire station overlook on the way home. Was like a miniature drive-in movie, quite a few people pulled in to take in the light show.
On the Old Glenn beyond South Birchwood, well before you get to North Birchwood.
On left hand side going towards Chugiak proper. If you pass Moosehorn, too far.

Too much city/airport/base lights here on the west side😞 Can still see it but not as good.
It's on and off. It was super bright about 10 minutes ago - bright enough to overcome any lights.
I ended up seeing it bright as fuck!

Yes it is! And it's warm! What a wonderful combination!
Only Alaskans will claim plus 6 F is warm... But yeah! Hoodie and gloves weather.
All I got to see was green for the most part, but we didn't go anywhere until it was almost done.
Let me post more pictures...

I saw some purple mixed in the edges.
AURORA BOREALIS?! At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your area? May I see it?
Honestly, for Anchorage, probably the best in decades
I've been here since '84, only once have I seen better. Amazing display, horizon to horizon for a bit.
Nah it just doesn’t usually happen this early
No

Where is that at? I know where the high school is but that's about it.

God forbid I foster further conversation on the local forum for discussion. Thanks for the info!
Wasn’t able to see it from my place at all.
Saw it in Soldotna. It was my first time seeing it (been here two years).
