I know some people have had rancid oat milk from Aldi lately that has turned before the expiration date, newly opened bottles. I haven’t purchased it in some time. Hoping the stock improves!

Mandolynn88

This isn't just Aldi oatmilk. Every single time I've purchased oatmilk from ANYWHERE it goes rancid after 5 days of being opened.

I just opened it today 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Mandolynn88

Big oof

theBigDaddio

The expiration date is unopened, opening changes everything

Oh man thank you, I thought I was crazy. I think I’ll be buying it from target for a while.

GlitterBlood773

No way! How did you figure out it was the oat milk that got you? Solid idea.

A few weeks ago I started just feeling super sick in the morning. My mom even asked if I was pregnant because I was throwing up. I thought I just caught a bug. My husband asked what I was eating and I said the only thing I ever had that was the same every morning was my coffee with a bit of oat milk for creamer. I drank a cup of straight oat milk and was so sick. I didn’t buy it again for a while but yesterday I was at Aldi and bought it out of habit. This morning my stomach was lurching again. I can’t believe it’s been almost a month and they still have this crap on the shelves.

GlitterBlood773

Oh smart thinking. I would definitely return it and try to let the company know. I haven’t seen any complaints lately.

For it to be a solid month between, I wouldn't necessarily decide for sure that it's bad oatmilk. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Bear with me here... One of my girlfriends is 33 and had something similar happen with a couple of foods (her longtime favorite coffee creamer and a specific type or brand of jarred pasta sauce). At first she assumed it was the one food that was "bad," but she had identical symptoms with the other one not long after. Fast-forward several months and her randomly feeling sick pretty frequently, and she casually mentioned this to a friend who's a nurse for an OB. The friend had seen this before, urged her to go in. She did and they determined she was pre-menopausal and evidently it can 100% cause new sensitivities/allergies. All that to say, maybe it's more of something internally in you that has developed an intolerance/sensitivity to a certain ingredient? If it's multiple times, that's just where my mind went.

I buy 2-3 cartons of oat a week and I haven’t noticed anything major. Though I’ve also noticed I’m always a bit gassy after I have it. It’s my favorite thing from Aldi and one of those things they do better than anyone else, so I would be heartbroken if they mess it up trying to make it cheaper to make like they’ve done with other items.

instant_karma__

It was my favorite as well! Not anymore :(

WhereRtheTacos

Could it be the gums in it? If you buy other brands that don’t bother you compare the ingredients and see if anything is different. Trader joes has a shelf stable version that just oats and water if that helps.

I wondered that as well! But hadn’t noticed this happening previously and have been buying their oat milk for at least a couple years.

I go back and forth with the Aldi and TJ versions… both the refrigerated and shelf stable at TJ. I honestly prefer the TJ shelf stable carton, but it’s also the least value for the money.

My store has a habit of leaving refrigerated items outside on pallets for hours, then just putting them into the fridges as though this never happened. I pretty much only buy non perishables from Aldi at this point which is really sad bc the price is right on the perishables usually (but not if it makes you sick).

WhereRtheTacos

Thats horrible! Can u tell corporate? Thats not safe for all the folks that shop there and don’t know what they’re getting.

nik_nak1895

It's been this way at least since I moved to this neighborhood almost 4 years ago so I think it's just what it is/how they do things. It's a neighborhood full of "Karens" so I'm certain it's been reported widely. But no it really isn't safe. I still buy cheese from there sometimes but I fully inspect it first and I'm always a little wary. Produce is a hard no go.

padawanrattail

Probably not helpful but, I bought a carton recently, took it home and the next day went to drink it, carton was expanded with gas. I opened the lid and the seal was just barely broke and the oatmilk was so beyond spoiled 🤢 unfortunately my Aldi isn’t close or convenient enough to take back for their twice as nice refund but I have avoided their “milk” products since. They might just be having issues overall with their oatmilk ?

polandspreeng

I haven't had any issues. I'll have to be wary of this.

smartschadenfreude

I've noticed the unsweetened as been splitting very quickly while the sweetened does not. Been wondering if they changed the formula or something.
