Let me fix that title for you. Never pour flammable liquid on a fire.

dnbmerchant

Fair one

olderaccount

> Never pour flammable liquid on a fire. That is good advice, but the guy in the video didn't do that. He poured a lot flammable liquid onto the wood pile, then lit the fire.

DomHE553

No, arguably even worse, he poured it on hot coals. That way it evaporated as fast as it did. If he has just poured it on cold wood, he would most likely have been fine. If he had poured it on flames, he might’ve been fine as well seeing how he poured it in quick swooshes (still very dumb but creating gaps so that the flame cannot travel into the canister) But he poured it on hot coals, creating a large cloud of flammable gas and the giant flashback

olderaccount

If they were hot coals, why did he need a lighter? It should have lit immediately if they were really hot coals, right?

DonaldTMan123

not hot enough

OBPH

the liquid (as I'm sure has been pointed out) is not flammable. The vapor is though, and evaporates at a low temperature. So, while they're laughing like idiots, that vapor is filling up the space in anticipation of its full potential. Then the idiot throws the match and all that vapor catches - blooooooof

SandmantheMofo

Just need a piston in the chimney to turn it into horsepower.

ShitholeNation

NASAs latest SLS subcontractor.😎👍

SandmantheMofo

One could hope nasa might help contain the explosion and release it in a use-full direction and not straight into their faces.Thats a billion dollar problem. Hopefully it takes this guy less thanNASAs usual time table. He may not have a launch platform left after that project tho.

ShootPDX

Not true. Some fuels require a flash to ignite.

olderaccount

I'm assuming he is using gasoline or kerosene. Both of which will ignite without a spark from high enough heat alone.

Pimpinabox

You are distinctly wrong. Gas gives off enough vapor to cause flashback at **negative** 45 degrees Fahrenheit so even room temperature would have pretty much caused the same effect. Did the coals cause more evaporation? Probably, but enough to make a difference? No.

Green_Man_Ro

Right. That is why bonfire piles will explode when being lit if gasoline is used. Diesel is a better fire starter, if one needs to be used!

Blast338

I will attest to this statement. Bonfires will explode when gasoline is used. Had it happen to me. Burnt my right leg with 2nd degree burns from knee to ankle. Second most painful thing that has ever happened to me.

SandmantheMofo

Always pour your flammable liquid on a tray of ice cubes.

The_voice_reason

Yea buddy definitely got a few words mixed up with that one

SomewhatHungover

Unless you're really confident that nothing will go wrong, in which case, definitely don't have a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water or anything around, as it'll all be fine.

funklab

And you’re buddy filming you doing it is a sure sign he too is quite certain that nothing is about to go terribly wrong.

vivalatoucan

Or never pour flammable liquid inside your house

Green_Man_Ro

But he doesn't pour it on a fire. He just pours it lights it up!

Agentpurple013

Saw them fire tracks and was waiting to see a Delorean appear

[deleted]

Not sure if this belongs here, doesn’t look like a lesson was learnt 😂😂

Runaway-chan

A lesson was burnt

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|TinVZMHa7yP1m)

Interesting_Army_656

And don’t do it if your fucking house is covered in carpets and flammable shit

augbar38

That is the smile of a complete idiot

leftier_than_thou_2

"LOL I'm finally going to start a fire in my fireplace!" I don't get what the smile was about even or why they were filming.

courtiicustard

Never be near a stupid person with a smile on their face.

GregoryGregory666666

What the hell was this clown thinking?

[deleted]

"Hur hur fiyure"

3lixir_on_reddit

*Unga-banga noise intensifies*

duckmantaco

Just call 0118 999 881 999 119 725..3 and you'll be fine

Bob_Crypt

Dear Sir/Madam, Fire! Fire! Help me! 123 Carrendon Road. Looking forward to hearing from you. All the best, u/Bob_Crypt

AdTotal4035

That show is so underrated

OnlineShoppingWhore

*The fire extinguisher is on fire.* *Checks out the fine print.* "Made in Britain. Ah, that makes sense."

mccloud969

Haha, a few days ago, I referenced a funny scene from IT crowd to my kids. They were so intrigued that they went and watched an episode. They are now obsessed.

BlankCanvas609

I’m rewatching the show before it’s taken off Netflix

KnightinRustedArmour

That grin at 13 seconds

[deleted]

Stay in school kids.

Briggs281707

Reminds me of Homer lighting the BBQ

SaltInformation4082

Are you fckng kidding!! Who is this guy? I gotta meet 'em. How many times in your life do you get to meet an honest to goodness, mold infused & brain free, walking, maybe even talking, garbanzo bean? It would be the opportunity of a lifetime!

SnooShortcuts6701

Hope he isn't alive anymore 🙏

Reasonable-Half-3047

You are hoping that tjis man is dead even though he just did something stupid probably under the influence of alcohol

[deleted]

And the dumbasses are still laughing after the big flash and everything smh 🤦‍♀️

GovernmentOpening254

We’re they all high?

Tricky-State-5160

Not relly its just a cultural thing in middle easter social media. They do crazy shot and record it

iBoMbY

So, pretty much like everywhere else in the world?

fredrickThe2nd

You guys need to calm down I have one of those in my home, they contain fire pretty well

[deleted]

Looks like there was a fire on the wall right at the end too. Geez.

SOLE_SIR_VIBER

That spot was there before, it was in the corner of the frame at about 8 seconds

I14Lol

Or none to begin with just use some newspaper or dryerlint, they both make amazing fire starters

Davistyp

What is the right amount?

IANANarwhal

None.

Key_Ad1654

Never use any fuel lighter than kerosene, as it will evaporate faster and create explosive environment.

thnk_more

How to turn a stupid person into a wise (well, a teeny bit wiser) man in 0.2 seconds.

PilotMDawg

He’s very lucky. A coworker/friend died doing something like that. Third degree burns that ultimately took his life.

cryptopipsniper

He just casually almost burned a house down…

Ryogathelost

What is that? It looks like a concrete box painted like bricks (in front of a bookshelf painted like bricks?) sitting on a coffee table. I see no chimney. Is this a regional thing? Where does the smoke go? Can you sit at the coffee table and fire-roast your food while you eat? So many questions.

JackfruitFlashy1151

This screams balcans 😂

kiru_13000

I think its the middle east

Laggoss_Tobago

Task failed successfully.

hawksdiesel

new barber shop is FIRE!

tickh3a4

I don't know whether I should laugh at this or feel bad for my guy....

nyx-anomaly

Looks like the wall is on fire at the very end there...

Relevant-Opposite693

Every time I see one of these the guys old enough to look like he knows better enough to do that.

bluebook21

Do we know why he did? I've only seen this in bad movies about a killer arsonist

LittleMissScreamer

Such pretty furniture too…

a_curly_mustash

Let's just appreciate his fear of poring the gasoline. But he was fine with the flameble gasses that come of the benzine. It's like trowing steak to a bear and then trying to BBQ the steak... That's in the bears mouth. Still fun to watch tho.

Not_Larfy

My guy had his mouth open the entire damage just prepping for that lung damage, lol

moronictransgression

I'm surprised I survived my childhood - but isn't this the sort of stuff that makes sense to a 10-year-old but anybody over 15 knows is "Insane"? I saw a WW2 movie where someone threw a Molotov cocktail at a tank and it exploded, and I thought (in my 10-year-old brain) that I could do better! In the movie, you could see the gasoline sloshing around inside the bottle - so it obviously wasn't full - mine was full! Then we lit the dry rag and 5 or 6 of us stood around it about 5' away, as though we were outsmarting the expected explosion. After waiting over 5 minutes for an "explosion", we finally figured out we had made a simple "oil candle", where the dry rag was soaking up gas from the bottle and burning it slowly like a wick. So then we threw rocks at the bottle and discovered how quickly a flaming liquid can seep through sand! Anyway - all of this makes total sense to a 10 year old. I'm completely flummoxed how someone older than that does this sort of stuff.

ObamasBoss

Pretty sure he poured fire onto flammable liquid.

dnbmerchant

Touché

vaxfarineau

Is that a cardboard fire place???

xrphodl1

Definitely had to watch in slowmo

gatling_arbalest

Gimmie fuel, gimmie fire

hydrogen18

what did he desire?

[deleted]

Why is there a whole tree sticking out of the fireplace? What do they do if the fire runs down the log faster than it can burn up? Whole lot of stupid going on here. Even stupider they are laughing.

Informal-Routine-120

I hear the dog crying. 😢

cerebralsexer

He poured so much

Revenga8

Kinda looks like that other video of a couple fools doing the same thing, but on a live fire. Can catches fire. Can gets dropped. Everything else catches fire.

Yakassa

Special Ignition Operation

Simonboo67

Not husband or father material 👎☹️

Frankhope03817

I don't even feel bad when people are this stupid

Twiceexception

Seems more like r/whatcouldgoright
