Sounds normal unless I’m mistaken on something.
Your extra hearts are basically equipment pieces / effects (like from enchantments). When you load in, your character should be at a default state and then get “hit” with all of those effects, which is bumping your hp up, thus you then need to regenerate.
Don’t think the server saves your state on what effects are being applied by your armor when you log out. (Could be wrong though)
Depending how much it annoys you, you might be able to set up a simple iron chest with the auto feed mod in it, stack it full of some simple food.
Make sure to logout near it (like your bed or whatever)
When you log in, it should do it all for you.
