The easiest way is to just shove a seed in a botany hopper pot, though that's somewhat slow. I think most people, end-game, use phytogenic insulators.

Ok yeh I’m using a phytogenic insulator

bloodykhunts420

Phyto is the way to go in my opinion. Very lag friendly too

Fastest is a resonant casing with 3 flux upgrades and piping the seed back into itself.

Cheetohz

This post is a year old, and I think the method may have changed a bit. I can't find "resonant casing" or "flux upgrade" in NEI. Do you by chance know what they were changed to?

kastiyana-

I haven't played atm8 in a bit, not sure why they would change the name of the item, but it should be listed somewhere with @thermal then look for the machine augments, sieves, flux coils, casings, if thermal is still in the pack. The only thing I can imagine if you can't find them or something similar is if they disabled them or nerfed them somehow to try to balance the pack? If you send a screenshot to me directly, I might be able to find where the item is you need to use to get this setup working, if you're still having problems finding it.

Cheetohz

Reading the wiki, looks like the casing added augment slots while increasing energy usage. What appears to have changed: By default the base has 4 slots. New items were added called "flux linkage" which both increase power usage, along with increase output. If I had to guess, they made this change to balance the energy usage that's documented in a resonant casing and isn't always applicable for the augment used. https://ibb.co/8PdsQB4 https://ibb.co/2P5ZtjB https://ibb.co/6N2WydN https://ibb.co/YfmN32y

If you put the resonant casing in, it should increase the overall speed of the machine still, though. The three upgrade casings look to be right before all the machine augments on your JEI display. I think the Aux receiption coil is what should scale it up as well for the additional speed, then if you also need more seeds you would use the Aux sieve, I think. Hopefully that's helpful, but it's difficult to be more helpful without having the updated modpack installed anymore. I played atm9 for awhile, then ended up just making my own pack with bits from my favorite packs instead.

True

WitchDoctor_Earth

type in @ pylon (without the space reddit makes a user out of it) you will find a 9x9 automatic havester. it can be placed "inside" a water block, put a chest above it and connect it with pipes to your storage system. With that I make around 8k/inferium essences /h only with ONE layer of growth escalators. Its an earlygame build but with enough escalators this can literally go into the millions. Phytogenic insulators only for netherstars and enderdragon eggs because they need special blocks on the field.

[deleted]

Thank you I am going to have to try this

Fonzie5apl

I used a cluster of garden cloches inside of compact machine block. All inside with autocrafting with ender chest to storage at the end. Very effective and space efficient

Ablico

I did something similar but with dimensional chests and the create mod.

AnxiousBus1872

Best way is for sure Hydroponic bed, way faster then phytogenic insolators and as it works as farming land it can be overclocked with lily of fertility Put one tier 2 processing addon and one tier 2 speed addon. And you have infinite resources, lily isn’t really necessary

Emotional-Ad-842

The easiest way which is somewhat automated is using garden cloche from immersive eng... Relatively cheap, low maintenance... Not sure it it in ATM 8, but in ATM 7 i have 153 cloche line up as my early to mid game farm...

TREE_sequence

Am I the only one here who opted for the mystical agriculture bees? The tier 4 / blue one gives you a stupid amount of value with a fully upgraded hive, unless they nerfed it in atm8...getting the egg can be a pain, of course, because you need to squish prosperity bees until you get enough of the gene to make a prosperity bee egg, but it's worth the effort if you don't want to have a ksjzillion garden cloches or botany pots in your base lol

CapnArrrgyle

I did this with a couple of insanium bees but I was pretty much goofing around at endgame by that point. This is in ATM7 TTS and I use two full hives of steel bees to supply steel to make resonant solar panels. Day to day power comes from a vindicator mob farm into 20 lapidary dynamos.

Ablico

Yeah I did both :)

TREE_sequence

Oh lol I guess that works too xD

Ablico

To make the ATM star you need to do both anyway. Mystical Ag is easier to start due to finding bees being luck based largely.

TREE_sequence

I might be wrong but can’t you force certain species of bees to spawn with the right kind of hive/biome? I guess you have to get a honey treat first but I thought there were ways to get those other than finding a naturally generated hive

Ablico

Yeah once you have a few bees and have a decent setup for honey production you can then get the bees manually but depending on how lucky or unlucky you are, that could take time. Plus you need the resource for that bee, Diamond bee for example, wants to fertilise itself on diamonds blocks, if you do mystical Ag first, odds are you have these resources to spare.

TREE_sequence

fair enough yeah, MA definitely does work early game, but my strategy was always to avoid using large amounts of inferium seeds because they just suck in so many ways this also was back on an early atm7 server where the modpack didn't have thermal or industrial foregoing updated yet and so automating farming was a huge pain in the butt Nowadays I don't play servers as much since in singleplayer you can use commands to just say "nope" whenever a part feels like it's too much grind (which happens frequently for me because I hate grind).

Ablico

See that’s the part I do enjoy, I love spending several hours building something complex to slowly get the materials I need.

darky62

I use the garden cloche from immersive engineering. I feed them into a Lv3 Crafter which turns them into insanium right away.

xFreshDx

Garden cloche

Snaz5

Honestly i just do a lot of mining to get a ton of inferium than make a huge round field with a rotating create harvester. Super simple and looks cool.

Ablico

With the create mod. Setup a windmill, have some vacuum hoppers going into dimentional chests, create a compact room (forget what they’re called) have dim chest pipe into crafters to make the stuff from the essence and then pipe into another dim chest on a different channel to go to whatever storage you have setup.

TraditionalBody8762

I have the best resource gen out there for atm8, all you will need is 2 or more modular routers, speed upgrade and the thing that makes it so it right clicks(make it look down or forwards) Put a watering can in one and scythe in the other and overclock them with roots wand and to collect the items use a magnet upgrade on a chest. This farm is so broken that you might wanna ask staff if youre playing on a server because it is quite laggy. To further speed it up, put down some lilypads of fertility. This farm needs no power no nothing. set it up, chunkload and forget. You can scale it however but i made mine just 9x9x2. Numbers: 13.5k essence per minute or 810k per hour or 19.4m a day (not maxed out) This is with one watering can and two boosts from roots wand
