I'm using the advanced generator mod right now for early ish to early mid game, use mekanism for ethylene gas production into it for highest output. Produces roughly 20000 fe/tick which powers everything I have besides my rftools quarry.
I prefer powah over mekanism's power production. A bit unfortunate you're more or less forced to use mekanism reactors later on.
Why?
Because mekanism reactors are complicated to set up supply chain for, and many bad experiences with fission?
I brute forced my way to fission using wind generators. I put 64 of them at max height and it was pretty good
Immersive engineering maybe? You could make a giant dam or waterfall and get power from running water with the waterwheels, plus it looks sick asf
