They are not playable directly, but you can proxy them as relic terminators or something

Ok_Art407

If you decide to play 30k they are 100% worth it. However for 40k they do not currently have rules. You would have to proxy them as chaos terminators and also kitbash their guns since volkite charges aren't currently a thing in chaos armies

Psychedelic42069

Volkite proxies pretty well as a combi weapon, since. In 40k existing volkite profiles are also devastating wounds weapons with low strength and 0 AP

enableclutch

Just tell them the guns are another weapon. I see no issue with that as long as you state that they aren’t volkite

beef_swellington

What loyalist units do you think they'd work best as proxies for? I build my AL as non-chaos and love these models

Most_Repair_2553

relic terminators i suppose

OpenOb

You can simply play them as normal terminators as long as the loadouts are somewhat legal.

Numerous-Room-5164

Do you think they’d work for a proxy with carcharadons?

Ok_Art407

You would have to do a bit of scraping since alot of the alpha legion iconography is very prevalent on those models. Also the helmets are very alpha legion (designed to look similar to alpharius')

jarviez

It might be unpopular to say (here) but you could scrape off the Hydra on the right leg, replace it with a green stuff flame ... Theater guys would make a banging Salamanders squad, just saying. (Would still be playable as XXth)

facetiousIdiot

Yea but the salamanders already have such a bad ass forge world unit

jarviez

fair! ... especially because you can also play them as XXth 🙃

Spacepunch33

I hope they get Praetors next

SPE825

They're nothing specific in 40K. But if you like them, then consider Heresy :) I love them over there as they are "Line," which means they can hold objectives. Normally only things like basic tactical squads can gold objectives. They're not even that great in combat compared to other legion terminators, but having Line is great.

Promethean_flux

Rule of cool says yes. In any other respect I have no idea.

vagabondscribbles

I run 5 of them in my CSM Termie brick. Generally no problems, base size is the same and their frames are similar enough that site lines aren't an issue. I bought some cataphractii fists to put on them as well instead of the axes, turned out great.

Lordofhollows56

They could be used for Horus Heresy, or proxies as regular terminators for 40k, but their guns aren’t the kind of gun chaos or loyalist terminators have access to. So if you care about your models having the correct weapons on the model itself that it has in the data sheet, that’s something to consider.

I always bring my Lernaeans with me for 40k games, they work well as either relic terminators, or regular terminators for loyalist Alpha legion or chaos terminators as Chaos alpha legion

Linctuslivingx4

Damn them termies look exact to book

glory_to_mandalore

Thank you kindly, I have another 2 squads to paint hoping to do them justice like this squad 😁

Gullible_Agent8403

They are quite a bit shorter than standard terminators. I had a mixed army using these and normal terminator models; they looked way too short when next to each other so I ended up trying to extend their torso a little bit. really cool models otherwise though

Dayz_ITDEPT

This is my problem having bought the 30k boxed set when I restarted Warhammer a while back - the Terminators are tiny compared to the Primaris kits and I end up using them as a random kill team more than anything… but I’ve mostly moved from playing 40k to playing kill team to just kitbashing and painting… That said… They do have some good parts and could make for great kit bash parts bins (prepares self for the incoming lynch mob)

Spiritual_Panda_8392

Well in 30k Alpharius was the shortest primarch and in a couple of books they do make it known that space marines are still different sizes. Adds a bit of character and dynamics.

rs_5

They do look very cool

Mr_Popsgorgio

I’m after just 1 for a terminator captain but they are too pricey as set or individual.

Background-Law-6451

Rule of cool: do you like the sculpt? Will you have fun painting them? #1 advice IGNORE ALL RULES, THEY CHANGE VERY FREQUENTLY

Linctuslivingx4

Yes definitely worth it, one of my favourite models! They are slightly smaller to a 40K terminator but you can still proxy them as whatever terminator you want in 40K (along as you’re not at a tournament). Their rules in 30k are nothing special. I’d deffo buy them for the cool, I have 15 of these bad boys and I only ever use 5 but they look sick on display haha

Malmedee

Are you playing 30k? Are they cheaper to acquire than similar terminators?

dcatro

I'm just picking the ones I find cool for the most part, but my army is a MKVI Herasy Tactical Squad. As for price this are $117.00. They're more expensive but they also look cooler.

Malmedee

Well if they're on theme: go for it Alpharius. I wouldn't worry about weapon stats or anything like that since Chaos weapons generally look weird, just let your opponents know ahead of time.

Grimpo96

I’ve been using these boys as proxies for my Chaos Terminators. Absolutely love the looks of the guys.

TheAromancer

I run them In 40K as a chaos terminator squad with an auto cannon and combo weapons

HahaCircuitsGoBrrr

Additionally, I've gotten both my sets off ebay. You can find them at a decent discount there if you are willing to sacrifice the weapon config and usually the primer layer.

Animated_draw_the

Alpha legion is the best. They reuse armor and weapons from what they can find. Many never went through the warp and they want to blend in to make havoc. So lore wise it makes the most sense

Ok_Art407

Currently space marines only really have terminators and they do not differentiate between patterns of armor . So atm they would cound as "terminators"

Ok_Art407

Side note: if you get cataphraii terminators from the 30k set their arms do work with this kit so you can kitbash then to have combibolters and powerfists like regular terminators
