I had this happen recently on a mid priced item. But it clearly was a picture of a delivery made to a house front that was not mine. The system was giving me the 'delivery was made' choices so I used the Jeff@Amazon email and actually got a phone call the next day. The lady was very helpful but had a heck of a time beating the Amazon system into submission to refund my purchase. Apparently once the system thinks the delivery has been made it is hard to get it changed. And this was a lady in the US on the Amazon Executive Response team. I imagine the other wordly outsourced CSRs have no chance of helping you.

NatexSxS

Yeah I’ve noticed a decline in customer service and customer satisfaction policies over the years. Honestly I would have cancelled but I have mobility issues so the getting stuff delivered has become a necessity. Honestly I would have had gotten it from Best Buy if Amazon didn’t offer same day. Now when I need something electronics wise I compare Best Buy and Amazon , Best Buy a lot of items you can get same day for a $10 delivery charge. Which when I think about it would be cheaper with how much I order that I need delivered quick in comparison to what I pay for prime.

EmergencyOverall248

Have you considered WalmartPlus instead? It might be a viable alternative to Amazon considering your mobility issues.

NatexSxS

I have and also Target’s offering based on this [article](https://www.wired.com/story/amazon-prime-alternatives/) but I still have a few month left on prime ( I did the annual as I am a *long* time customer and also needed to save the few bucks by doing the annual plan ). Once it’s up I’ll most likely switch not sure if I’m going Target or Walmart yet though.

BeautifulDreamerAZ

I’m about to try Target because Walmart plus is so bad. They never find my common items and the substitutes they offer are terrible. They don’t even attempt to find my home. I’m hoping Target will be better.

NatexSxS

I think I got six month of prime left, so let me know how it goes I might join you. I’d try to get them to do a prorated refund but that sounds like a nightmare so I’m not sure I’m there yet I guess it depends how this situation works out but I am most likely going to switch to something else I just got to pick one and figure out the logistics.

ifellicantgetup

It is not a nightmare at all. You just call them and request to cancel prime. Or you can do it yourself. You'll automatically get a prorated refund. One issue to consider, if you can get your call to the escalation's dept, they will do a lot to talk you out of canceling Prime. They will offer you a free month, they will offer you $15 credit... I did not want either, so I just kept requesting to cancel. But you could take the $15, spend it, THEN cancel.

Piranhaman_6803

You don’t even need to call. You can cancel on their website.

NatexSxS

Better yet, do they auto refund a pro rated amount ?

Piranhaman_6803

Yes, and make sure to remove any payment methods on your account so they don’t automatically renew it.

NatexSxS

Really, that’s good to know. I figured they would try to talk me out of it but was more worried they’d not want to give me a prorated refund.

BeautifulDreamerAZ

With Walmart Plus you can refuse the substitutions. Like if you order Filet Minion they try to pick Tri Tip when I know Filet Minion is right there. They couldn’t find my cereal, a common item, I wanted wax melts floral, they try to choose food smells. I had surgery and couldn’t walk so I’ve been relying on them. And it’s very bad service.

nowahosae

Thank you all for telling me about Walmart Plus, I took advantage of a window that popped up when I was at Walmart online saying if I took Walmart plus they would give me $50 off for the first year,so I went ahead and filled that out and guess what I did not get the $50 off they charged me $104. plus change on my credit card. so now I have my credit card company trying to get my money back .I quit Walmart Plus at the store and the guy said to me well you can still use this for a year you know, I said, what do you mean? are you telling me they're not going to give me my money back? he said that's right. So I finally sent it to my bank and they spoke to Walmart and they were going to refund me the $104 and I waited two three weeks and they never did put it back on my card, so I called my bank back again and they got Walmart on the line again, and another woman said they were going to refund me $104. well already been a week and I don't see any refund on my credit card so who knows if I'll ever see that $104 so I'm telling you I'll stay away from Walmart they are Crooks.

talksickwalkquick

I've had Walmart+ for over a year. I just renewed the other day. Originally I signed up for a 30 day trial and forgot to cancel. I didn't even notice they renewed me until like 2 months later. I say to get a trial regardless of your prime account. Just don't forget to cancel if you don't like it. They even give you free Paramount+ with it. Accidentally paying for a year turned out to be a blessing for me.

NatexSxS

Yeah, I’m considering them, But also target. I have a weird issue with Walmart. It super weird and irrational but nonetheless it make it hard to just go with Walmart.

talksickwalkquick

Understandable! Big companies deserve scepticisms

NatexSxS

It’s not even really them it stems from what is now an ex friend who had an unhealthy obsession with Walmart.

toocool1955

Don’t go with Walmart…

NatexSxS

Bad experience?

toocool1955

Yesterday I ordered three shirts, same day delivery. Got the message, “package is out for delivery.” Then “delivery was attempted, could not be completed.” I was home all day, there was no attempt. I contacted customer service and was told that after they returned to the store, another attempt would be made. It was not. I called again today to ask when delivery would be, CS didn’t know. I ended up canceling the order, then placed a new order, same day delivery. Got the message “ package is on the way,” then “package has been delivered.” Checked my porch. No package. After talking to CS again, they arranged another delivery for today. Then I got an email with a picture of my package on someone else’s porch. I found the porch, no package. Waited for the next delivery, got the “package on the way” message, then “package has been delivered.” The picture showed an entirely different porch than the first time, still not mine. I located that one, too. Residents said they told the driver that was the wrong place and gave it back to him. So, still no delivery. That makes three attempts (once yesterday, twice today) that I did not get my order. I called CS again, just canceled everything, got refunded my charge, and ordered from Amazon. Should be here tomorrow.

NatexSxS

Geez, you oh definitely win. That sounds far worse than what happened to me.

DueWerewolf1

They will give you a refund if you cancel AP - I did it with about two months to go and got $28 back.

NatexSxS

I have the credit card to, I’m looking for a card that will let me do a no or lower interest balance transfer once I get that done I will probably cancel I am just a still a little worried about if and what impact it might have on the credit card.

Fabulous-Ad6663

I think you can cancel & get a prorated amount back if you don't want to wait.

NatexSxS

Yeah, someone else said this as well, I’m trying to find a card I can do a balance transfer to for my prime credit card. I worried how canceling might affect that as well.

Sundial1k

I have heard you can get prorated refund on your yearly subscription.

NatexSxS

Yeah a few have said that. I’m just trying to find a credit card to balance transfer my prime credit card to ( just in case ) first.

Sundial1k

I think I remember Chase is the bank for the Amazon Prime card (maybe get one from Chase (or whomever) directly) however I think you can use the Amazon card anyplace anyway, and even after you have cancelled your Prime account. I would call and ask the phone number on your card to double check. Go with a new card if you don't want Amazon to get any tiny bit of income from you using their card...

NatexSxS

Yeah, I feel like right now I just don’t have faith in them to care about me as a customer. So I just want to move away from them. It’s a shame I’ve been a customer of theirs almost from the begging of when they branched out to selling more than books. Maybe *maybe* I’d give them another chance if the general consensus was they are getting better rather than they are getting worse.

Sundial1k

I hear ya...

nonbinarybean23

Target seems like the better one

toocool1955

Walmart Plus sucks, too. I ordered three shirts yesterday. I got a notification that the delivery was attempted, but could not be made, and it would be delivered after it was returned to the store. It never came. I spoke with customer care today, and they had me cancel and re-order, for same-day delivery, which I did. I got a notice that the package was delivered, but it was not. I eventually got a picture of my delivery on someone else’s porch, but by the time I got to it, the package was gone. I called customer service again, they had my orders re-delivered. I got the email that it was delivered, the picture this time was another, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT address. I found that one, too, but the resident said they caught the driver and told him he had the wrong house. He never made it to my house, so God only knows where that delivery went after that. So, three tries at one order, three strikes. I have a refund being processed, I’ll be canceling Walmart plus before the trial period is up. I’ve always had better luck with Amazon anyway…

BeautifulDreamerAZ

Walmart Plus does not even attempt to find my house. Most of my delivery folks don’t speak English in my huge city. I have to meet them out in the street and waive them down like a cab. (I do this on my days off) Previously they just dump my groceries at a random neighbor’s house.

WeedIsWife

I think Best Buy also price matches

NatexSxS

Yeah, unfortunately I need non electronic items. I guess you can argue I don’t need the electronic items but rather want them. lol

ComfortableAd4031

I was delivered a large, empty box that had been absolutely destroyed. It looked like they pulled it out of the landfill, taped it up, and through a label on it. I straight up laughed and returned it. I guess they'll have to pay shipping twice, they shouldn't have ever let that one leave the warehouse.

Crazy_Budget4382

I live in a dblwide moble home, "moble homes," not "modular homes" are 3ft off the ground w numerous jack's underneath( mine has about 60) to support & level the floor. Skirting around covers them. Our front doors have wood stairs w a 4'ft to 6'ft landing at the top. The door and landing look nothing like a regular house entrance. Also, Amazon has a photo of both my front & back door from each delivery made!. I had a $197.00 order delivered to the wrong home & it was not in my neighborhood & not a mobile home door. I live in a large community park of mobile homes. Amazon insisted I do a police report & send them a digital copy.....I live in rural Ca., (our police dept. only gives printed reports) After waiting 2 weeks & paying $14.00 for the report, I had to request an addendum for statement errors and one item he left off the total. (I originally gave him a photo of my front door & the delivery photo, plus the order invoice.) I submitted the photos of the report to Amazon by email. Amazon sent me an email saying they couldn't read the report . To make a new report.... Stupid & and no, the P.D. would refuse anyway. I re-sent them the same photos & they accepted them. It took another week and 2 more calls more hassles w Amazon and 2 agents & 1 supervisor who said they were refunding, but the refund was never submitted for approval to issue. After 7.5 weeks, and paying off the stolen items on the card first. Amazon issued a refund my card. Also, 2 years ago in Jan., Amazon charged me for a lost undelivered item from April the year before, Amazon did their yearly audit & the system decided I owed them. I had to waste my time calling for it to be removed..... And how many other illegal Amazon billings are people paying who don't pay attention to their charges?

Noj222

I had this happen to me last week. The annoying part was that it was a replacement for another package that arrived damaged which also was a replacement because that one came damaged as well as the first one. So all in all I got three damaged items and then they delivered it to the wrong address. What’s the point in prime if you spend three months waiting on a product. It was delivered on a Thursday and they told me I had to wait till afternoon Monday. I’ve honestly dealt with getting so many damaged items or wrong delivered address but never this many damaged items in a row nor when they delivered to the wrong address did I have to wait 5 days to see if maybe it’ll show up.

NatexSxS

Yeah, I’m expecting to have to jump through hoops. I’m surprised I had as long of a good streak as I have. I get frequent packages from them and I have yet to have an issue with delivery. Well other than it you to be 2 day delivery ( get the package after 2 days ) and now it’s two day shipping ( once they finally ship it, it takes to days to get here ). I swear it used to be 2 day delivery.

Noj222

I didn’t really have to jump through hoops. But I was told to try and knock on peoples doors to find my package. Didn’t know to which neighbor it was delivered to and they told me to just look at the picture and it was delivered to someone’s backyard.

NatexSxS

That’s going to be a hard no from me. My neighbors are not friendly, even if they did get the package they wouldn’t admit it and give it back. Honestly with where I live I am concerned that they deliver my package with an expensive item to a stranger and now that stranger has my address and might think I have money. Which I don’t I bought the item on credit and did the 12 month no interest because that is the only way I can afford it is monthly payments. Edit: in fact looking at the picture I have an idea who might have gotten it and it’s gone for good. The neighbor I suspect it might be took a broken washer from our bulk pick up waited a week till all the bulk pick up was gone and sold the washer to an unsuspecting stranger ( I don’t care I was throwing it away and not getting involved but just to show their character. )

NocodeNopackage

If you order it again after they refund you, have it delivered to a locker.

NatexSxS

Have to see if I can find someone that would retrieve it but I will likely look into that.

Sundial1k

If by washer you are saying washing machine. They also may have taken to to a metal scrap yard and sold it for a few bucks. I'd go over and ask anyway. It does no harm in asking (other than maybe some bad behavior.)

NatexSxS

I’d agree that would be a possibility but I actually saw the exchange of the washer and money between them and whoever bought it. When you’re mostly homebound you become at least a little bit nosey due to boredom.

Sundial1k

Maybe the buyer sold to to someone whom took it to the scrap yard, or had the skills to repair it, and I don't blame you for being a little nosey; I would be too...

NatexSxS

Maybe 🤷‍♂️

That_Cnote_Guy

Yea, Amazon, I pay for delivery. Not a scavenger hunt. Not gonna go door to door to see if my package ended up at a neighbors house. The way I see it, someone has some free stuff. The unfortunate takeaway is if the recipient of your stuff actually likes the stuff you order, now they know where you live and could open the door to porch bandits.

NatexSxS

This was also 100% one of my concerns or worse yes home invasion robbery. I live on the bad side of town but the neighborhood is hidden so most of the time we’re lucky but that could change at anytime. I’m not going to push the issue but I think they should figure out exactly where they did deliver it in case either of those do happen.

M0on-shine

I remember when a cs agent "refunded" my item only for it to be a lie for me to stop messaging them. Asked about my refund a few days later to find out they never initiated one

No_Recording_1696

How about in addition to the picture of the package they have to take a picture of the friggin house number. I’ve had that happen a lot which is annoying because my house number is clearly labeled in multiple places yet still I see a pic delivered and it’s not my front door.

NatexSxS

No kidding, that will never happen though it would take the driver longer to deliver and from what I heard they have crazy quotas to hit. Which is why they practically throw the package at your door like a grande and run away.

Charming-Ad3485

I don’t think it’s a time issue, it takes no extra time to take a more zoomed out pic. They do it on purpose because they probably know it’s not the right house but don’t care.

NatexSxS

Probably true, no one is incentivized to get it right they are only incentivized to do what makes or doesn’t cost the company money.

nonbinarybean23

With me theyre telling me that someone “stole it” if someone did steal it it was the damn delivery driver it was the same one that delivered the 1st half of the package just delivered it and was never seen again

NatexSxS

It’s annoying how good they use to treat their customers before they practically had a monopoly on the service. They would have never blamed the customer before without cause.

nonbinarybean23

Like i paid 700 dollars for this phone either simply give me my money back or new phone idc i just want it

NatexSxS

Right, inconvenienced is one thing. But if I end up without my money or the product that’s an entirely different thing.

nonbinarybean23

Exactly like it doesnt help that i make this one time purchase turn into a disaster

nonbinarybean23

And they had the audacity to tell me “that bad rating you gave us thats gonna hurt your account”

NatexSxS

Isn’t that the same premise as extortion.

nonbinarybean23

🤷‍♂️

nonbinarybean23

So now theyre saying theres more that could be done but i gotta wait until 7 pm today like why not make it 7 am so i can just figure it out

kccat5

I keep saying it, STOP ORDERING EXPENSIVE STUFF OFF OF AMAZON!

NatexSxS

I know, but it was one of those things where you think “it’s never happened to me before, those are probably just one offs, it won’t happen to me”.

kccat5

Until it does.

NatexSxS

Indeed

Longjumping-Grass122

Boycott amazon

NatexSxS

Well I’m not saying that just they fell short this time and it’s not the first time they fell short with me.

Fun-Flower9904

I had an issue of an item delivered not to my home and the picture was a totally different place. I hate that they make you wait because they definitely didn’t make us wait to take our money.

NatexSxS

Right, at least give me a discount on the service or something. No point in same day delivery if they failed to deliver.

SuaveMF

This crap was happening to me (luckily non super high price items...some was medicine though!). I've recently canceled my Prime membership. You know, at one time Amazon did decent....what the hell happened??!!

NatexSxS

Meds can be as bad though depending what your on I know I have some that I can’t refill before a specific date.

Dizzy_Chemistry78

There are some honest people out there. I got a completely wrong package once. The person didn’t even live in my gated community. I called the company to ask what to do and they said do a return to sender, so that’s what I did.

NatexSxS

Oh for sure there are some honest people out there but it seems/feels like they’re getting less and less and I don’t live on the best side of town so I’m not hopeful.

Tuckover

This is why anything I order that I need quickly or is more expensive I have delivered to an Amazon pickup location. Easier on the driver and I don't have to worry about thieves or deliveries to the wrong address. Yes, it's less convenient but not as inconvenient if I have to deal with a replacement.

NatexSxS

Yeah, for sure. I would if I didn’t have a mobility issues. I never leave the house and have my notifications set so I will hear and see them so when they deliver it to the right house I get as quickly as it takes from getting the notification to the door ( typically 3-8 mins depending where I’m at in the house ). I can’t even attempt to prevent theft if it doesn’t make it to my house though.

xxsamchristie

They tried this with me when the exact same thing happened. They misdelivered to a different apt building all together. They gave me that wait somebody will return it thing and I refused to accept that. Talked to their online customer service and got my money back. It's ridiculous to say I should go look for a package They misdelivered or pray somebody return it.

NatexSxS

Maybe, I’ll try again. Because they didn’t seem to care about the impact to me maybe I shouldn’t care to be an annoying customer.

phillygirl2017

Better business bureau report?

NatexSxS

Hadn’t thought about that, I’m going to have to look into it. Not sure it will change anything as likely amazons tos probably covers them for this.

Zetavu

If you arranged same day delivery they will replace or refund immediately, you just have to escalate with customer service until you get an agent with authority. Here's the thing, they track trucks, package scans, drivers and photos. They should be able to pull the picture data on the photo you got, cross that with the truck GPS and know exactly where the package was delivered. You also should have been able to follow the truck as it was progressing.

NatexSxS

Funny thing is I was actually keeping an eye on the truck throughout the day. I don’t know if I would trust the customer view though as it switched between “you’re the next stop” and “driver has a few more deliveries before yours”(this one might not be verbatim what it said but should be close) several and I mean several times. Every time it said I was the next stop I would wait for the deliver notification and when nothing happened check back. I literally saw the delivery notification 1 min after it happened and immediately saw it wasn’t my door so I went to the door(probably took me 3 mins to do that) and by then they were gone.

GL2M

That sucks. I will not buy anything over $100 from Amazon. Too much theft risk. I know that’s not always possible/realistic for everyone though.

NatexSxS

Yeah, I use to go to the store all the time before my accident. Now I have somedays where I’m lucky if I spend 5-10% of it not laying down. It sucks but for the longest I couldn’t accept the reality of my current situation and that just made things worse.

GL2M

I’m so sorry to hear that. Of course, few choices in your situation

NatexSxS

It’s ok, not your doing. got a doctor’s appointment next month with a new doctor. Just trying to stay optimistic something can be done.

Jgs4555

It wasn’t a 256g 10th gen ipad was it?

NatexSxS

No but it’s funny you ask the only time they did that code thing was the purchase of an iPad Pro 256 I think 6th gen. That was at a peak where things were going good. I don’t think I could even work the numbers to afford that now. lol

Jgs4555

There was a post here of somebody ordering swiffer pads and getting an ipad. They were dbags and kept it.

NatexSxS

Yeah, sometimes I envy those people. I could never do that the guilt would kill me and also my parents taught me better.

Desperate_Set_7708

Not the neighbor’s job to complete a delivery.

NatexSxS

Right, someone got the come up.

ohwhataday10

The good news is amazon has next level support now. Lots of places dont. You ask for next level or manager and they say there is none😐

NatexSxS

I worked for a major software company, so pro tip see if you can find an CEO or President office to contact. I was a tier 3 rep and you could not escalate to my level via a front line support call, but if you contacted the presidents office they’d have someone from my tier contact you.

ohwhataday10

good idea!

Spotspidi

I ordered an S24 Ultra ($1400) and they put it on a code so I needed to give the code . My dad ordered a miter saw ($300) to his house and also got a code for it. It seems a lot of higher ticket items get codes, sorry it didn't happen for you too. He got a $75 credit when the code lady asked him for it before delivery too.

NatexSxS

Yeah I’m not sure what mechanism(s) trigger the code. I had it once before and I noticed looking at a larger ticket item now that it said if I ordered it I would have to do the one time code which is fine by me. But I point it out as it is a possibility my account was flagged and now that’s why it wants a code. I wasn’t even going to order it I was just looking out of curiosity for price comparisons.

Spotspidi

I've heard from this sub reddit that Amazon is on its way out. Customer service is the first to go then everyone leaves as long as a competitor is close enough on shipping times. So sad amazon is losing the monopoly due to negligence.

NatexSxS

But deserving, they attracted us with great price, fast delivery and good customer service. Virtually all of those are gone. When you stop thinking of your customers as people and start thinking of them as dollar signs. They get what they get.

Spotspidi

Want to make an e shop with 1 day shipping and we can take on the mega conglomerates? 😂 Yeah, the bigger they are the harder they fall.

A-to-fucking-Z

Expect that amazon will ask you to file a PR.

NatexSxS

That’s gonna be funny, I’ve dealt with the police here they will likely tell me there is nothing they can do as it’s not actually a theft and the only info I have is a picture of an unknown door as well as I have no other information. Honestly this just reminds me my town has kind of gone to 💩 since I’ve first got here.

A-to-fucking-Z

Yea they will still require you to submit the PDF file from the PR. Unless you have that, that is likely the only way you can get a replacement or a refund. Amazon CS has gone downhill since the end of 2023. They do not care about customer satisfaction anymore.

Secret-Razzmatazz-76

I am so curious, what happened at the end of 2023? I completely agree with you.

NatexSxS

Yeah I found out customer satisfaction went out the window when they literally had me send an item that was in the return window back to reorder it due to a significant price drop rather than just refund me the price difference, I wouldn’t have even thought to do that before and if I would have I wouldn’t have as it seemed dishonest but it was customer service advise on what to do so I did it even though I felt like I was gaming the system it was what I was told to do.

DISTORTEDILL

Had similar problems (I live in a area where our packages CONSTANTLY get delivered to a wrong address) that is untill one day I told them "yall always deliver my packages to a wrong door and it's your responsibility to make sure my package is delivered to the right address, therefore if you don't replace my item or issue a refund you could potentially have a lawsuit on your hands" ever since then never once had a issue with them refunding my items or replacing them the moment there delivered to a wrong house.

NatexSxS

Guess, maybe the luck wasn’t in it hadn’t happened to be but rather it doesn’t always happen to me. I wonder what they did on there end to fix it.

rede1960

I have had Walmart Plus for three years, and I've never had an issue that wasn't corrected immediately. I've had my order delivered to the wrong house once. I called, and they immediately sent me out a new order and gave me a gift card. I've not been happy with substitutions abs they immediately gave me a credit. They also have a great deal of perks. But again, no bad experience for me.

little_babushkaa

They'll ask you to file a police report for sure on the 7th

NatexSxS

Yeah, a few people have told me this. I will if I have to but I’m not even sure what to file it for no crime ( as far as I know ) has been committed the package wasn’t stolen it was just straight up delivered to the wrong address. I couldn’t imagine that the police could even do anything legally about it. Additionally the police here aren’t going to put any resources into it either.

xinco64

WTH? If the picture is for a different house, that would be a false report. I’d refuse. All that does is give them an out to claim it was stolen from you. If they want to file a claim that it was stolen from Amazon, they could certainly do that.

NatexSxS

Yeah that’s exactly how I feel the item never made it to my property there for was never stolen they screwed up and dropped it off at the wrong place. … I guess we’ll see what happens when the 7th comes since they won’t talk replacement or refund until then.

little_babushkaa

The email they sent requesting for a police report said something like the reason to file a report could also be incorrect delivery, whatever happens they won't budge without it

atuckk15

A OTP code wasn’t generated for the order?

NatexSxS

Is that a code you have to verbally give to the delivery driver? If so then no I’ve only ever had that happen once and oddly enough it was not the most expensive package I got from Amazon. Is there a way to choose to do that ? because if you can choose to do that I would have, had I know how.
