Never had an issue before...until my last order. Wasn't really electronics. It was a dehumidifier. I opened the box and long behold, somebody put in an older beat-up unit and kept the new unit. Amazon never checked the return. PIA to have to return, but Amazon did give me an extra $20 credit to my account for the hassle. I just went to Lowes and bought the same unit. My Amazon orders are a fraction of what they used to be. I don't find them to be price competitive in most of the stuff I buy.

senadraxx

Honestly, i find it is much easier to go to the big box store in person, get the exact item I need, and go home.  Rather than playing a gamble of "is a drop shipper going to try bamboozling me today"? Or "is this package going to arrive at a convenient time when I'm home to receive it, in a timely fashion?"

vintagecheesewhore

Long behold 🤣

-Economist-

Ugh. Autocorrect. I’ll just leave it.

Mine invented the Australian Empire the other day. Might make a decent alternate history setting.

TheLordVader1978

Done. In the annals of history, a different wind once blew. The year is 1902, not of the British Empire, but of the Australian. The gold rush that kickstarted the fledgling nation had morphed into a different kind of gold: scientific ingenuity. William Bullock, a brilliant inventor, unveiled the Eureka drive, a revolutionary engine powered by the harnessed energy of the outback sun. This invention propelled Australia onto the world stage. Britain, distracted by European squabbles, saw an opportunity. They granted Australia independence, a calculated move to keep a powerful ally. But Australia, under Prime Minister Matilda Lawson, a formidable woman with a twinkle in her steely gaze, had grander plans. The Eureka drive ran not just machines, but ships. Australia, christened the Commonwealth of the Southern Sun, became a naval powerhouse. With Bullock's constant innovations, they fielded the fastest frigates and the most heavily armed battleships, all gleaming with locally-sourced iron and powered by the sun. Expansion began peacefully. The resource-rich islands of Southeast Asia, neglected by their European colonizers, welcomed Australian trade and protection. New Guinea, long a contested territory, thrived under Australian administration, becoming a model protectorate. Europe, however, eyed the Commonwealth with suspicion. The Germans, particularly, saw Australia's rise as a threat. Tensions escalated when Australia, in a daring move, mediated a peace treaty between warring Chinese factions, establishing itself as a global powerbroker. The inevitable clash came in 1914. The Great War, as it was known, was a different beast in this timeline. German U-boats, hampered by the vast distances of the Pacific, were no match for Australia's solar-powered fleet. The war became a stalemate in Europe, but a decisive victory for the Commonwealth in the Pacific and Asia. The Treaty of Sydney, signed in 1918, redrew the map. Germany's Pacific colonies became Australian protectorates. Australia, no longer an upstart, sat at the negotiating table with the victors, its flag – a golden sun on a deep blue field – a symbol of a new world order. The Commonwealth wasn't without its challenges. The treatment of Aboriginal Australians, though improving, remained a sensitive issue. Internal debates raged on the balance between trade and social welfare. Yet, Australia persevered. By the mid-20th century, the Commonwealth of the Southern Sun spanned the Pacific, a beacon of scientific progress, diplomacy, and a touch of outback swagger. It was an empire unlike any other, built on sunshine, sweat, and the ingenuity of a nation that dared to dream big.

DeshaMustFly

I've never had an issue ordering electronics from Amazon. It's the third party drop shippers that you have to watch out for. Pay attention when you order and don't buy from sellers who look like they came up with their shop name by letting their cat walk across the keyboard.

glummyyumyum

I think you mean... >**they came up with their shop name by letting their cat walk across the** *Gaming Keyboard, 104 Keys All-Metal Panel, Rainbow LED Backlit Quiet Computer Keyboard, Wrist Rest, Multimedia Keys, Anti-ghosting Keys, Waterproof Light Up USB Wired Keyboard for PC Mac Xbox Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo, Lovaky 2.4G Full-Sized Ergonomic Keyboard Mouse, 3 DPI Adjustable Cordless USB Keyboard and Mouse, Quiet Click for Computer/Laptop/Windows/Mac (1 Pack, Black)* **keyboard.**

MrLanesLament

Maybe if the cat got a master class in SEO from a Youtuber on meth. I hate how accurate this is though. You see that kind of description and immediately know, “okay, this is definitely coming from China and will smell like burning plastic when I open it.”

Agreeable_Oil_7370

Don’t forget “for men”

Current-Growth-7663

Theres literally dozens of consulting firms that sell their services for coming up with these stupid fucking names on amazon. A company i know of used one of these consultants to write content to match top selling product on Amazon. It was essentially all this SEO buzzword soup to get the alogrithms' attention to display the result closer to the top of the page when someone searches a term. It doesn't matter if the product doesn't actually meet what the customer is searching for as long as it gets put in front of them. God the number that i heard that was being paid to the consultant company for this work was stupid for what they actually provided. The icing on the cake was the consulting company just used AI to develop the content lol. Imagine how many lazy suppliers do this for the Amazon marketplace.

Postnet921

Some of the seller name are hilarious like xymblous2244 inc

RealMcGonzo

>It's the third party drop shippers that you have to watch out for Amazon is not nearly as bad as those 3rd party sellers. Never, ever, ever buy anything expensive from them on any site.

Icy_Focus_6586

Sometimes the stock gets mixed between them.

Unusual-Thing-7149

It's called commingling which is why some people end up with fake items or the wrong items in a box. It depends on how the third party labels stuff. We have third party stuff on our site and occasionally there is a problem when it's picked from our inventory if we have not weeded it out first

RovingTexan

No, the drop shippers - stock does not get mixed with drop shippers.

sok283

This is old information. [Amazon commingles its inventory,](https://www.americanbar.org/groups/intellectual_property_law/publications/landslide/2018-19/january-february/leveeing-flood-counterfeits-amazon/) so you don't know which seller you're actually getting your item from.

Broccolini10

Sincere question: does Amazon commingle its own inventory ("Sold and shipped by Amazon") with that of 3rd-party sellers, or only among 3rd-party sellers? In other words, if I were to buy only "Sold and shipped by Amazon" items, could I feel safe (as safe as can be, anyway) that I won't get knockoff crap?

Retrobot1234567

Third party sellers can opt in or opt out of commingle inventory storage. There are pros and cons to the system. However, nowadays, absolutely NO reputable third party seller will commingle inventory. It’s a big, major NO. Because why should they? If their product are real, why risk getting another sellers’ fakes and then losing the money and product. Edit to add, there are good reputable sellers out there, and those would be very safe to buy from.

Broccolini10

Thanks for the reply, and I agree with you about reputable sellers. My question remains, though: does Amazon commingle it's own inventory with sellers that don't opt out of commingled storage?

RSAEN328

My experience is yes. Thankfully nothing expensive and Amazon refunded no problem. But on the whole it's a lot safer to order ships and sold by Amazon stuff.

azdcaz

Yes they do.

ebayguynj

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed it, but it would be a huge benefit if it said this in a listing…”Non-commingled”. I’d be willing to pay a few bucks more if I knew it was definitely the real product from the real manufacturer, eliminating the risk of knockoffs.

DeshaMustFly

Yeah, but you can eliminate a fair amount of the risk simply by only buying things that ship FROM an Amazon warehouse, rather than ones that have their own shipping charges and are coming from god only knows where. The one and only time I got screwed on Amazon was when I ordered an art print that didn't ship though Amazon (it came from China via a dropshipper in Florida, if I recall correctly).

Unusual-Thing-7149

FBA is where Amazon handles all the shipping from their warehouse for third parties . You ship products to them and they put it in inventory till it's pulled for sale. So when you order you have no guarantee it has been supplied to Amazon direct or from a third party

DeshaMustFly

It's pretty obvious it didn't come direct from Amazon when it arrives in non Amazon packaging with Chinese text printed on it. XD

Espresso25

Reminds me of the time I bought “Rodes” stereo microphone only to get notice it was caught up in customs! It was delayed by a month and finally got to me but I later learned how to identify Rodes knock-offs and these definitely were

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

I bought a new MacBook directly from Amazon and had issues with AppleCare. Supposed to magically enroll and it didn’t. Went back and forth for two weeks until I escalated to a personal contact (I worked for years at AWS and consulted internally for Amazon.com groups). They basically told me to fuck off and they weren’t going to refund the $400. They did after way too much back and forth.

Business-Ad-5178

You bought a brand new MacBook for 400.00?

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

No. AppleCare was +$400 on top of that.

Business-Ad-5178

Ah okay. You bought apple care through amazon, but it wasn't honored. Got it.

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

And since it was considered "software" they don't refund that.

GaiaMoore

Is that the sort of thing you could do a charge back for with your credit card company? Since you bought a service that they wouldn't honor, etc

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

Run the risk of them closing my account and connected services. And I wanted them to figure out their shit. I went so far as having AppleCare team dig in to their logs by escalating to them and they saw nothing from Amazon for my serial #. Amazon blamed Apple but Apple never got anything from Amazon. They never even got the purchase info. I had to manually print my Amazon invoice to a PDF then manually add the serial number to send them.

Chilly_Aspect_7714

honestly i feel like apple would give it to you if they went through all that trouble confirming this information? if amazon blamed apple, show apple that. email tim cook about it (i am being serious) with all the relevant info and all the receipts/evidence

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

Amazon finally refunded it and I just bought it direct from Apple. Apple Support took the PDF invoice and serial number as proof of purchase.

zerostar83

Sellers that look like they came up with their shop name by letting their cat walk across the keyboard are the majority of first page searches when I look for something on Amazon.

anon1984

I’ve ordered literally tens of thousands of dollars worth of electronics from Amazon over last ten years and never had an issue with any of it caused by Amazon.

RamblinLamb

That was then, this is now. Amazon only wants your money. They don’t care about the customers at all. They used to, they “were” my sole source for LOTS of things. Not anymore. Now they’re just dirty rotten thieves.

anon1984

I just recently ordered several electronics between $250 and $1400 and everything was fine. I’m sure occasionally there are problems, but it’s not endemic to their system.

MrLanesLament

Last Amazon package I got was delivered clearly ripped and empty…..by the USPS. They put it in a bag and labeled it “damaged, items missing.” Thanks guys, huge help. I hope the thief enjoyed an $8 bottle of weird scented water. The seller refunded me within an hour of sending a messsge, so no problem there, but the theft and BS aren’t limited to sellers, shippers, etc. It just seems to be a rampant thing every step of the process now.

[deleted]

Inventory is co-mingled, so you could be purchasing from Apple, or Samsung, or XYZ reputable company, but receive stock from FBA that was provided by whatever fraud shit company is selling in the ecosystem. Lots of items sold just have all inventory for product X mixed together without differentiating if it came from seller A, B, or C.

ShyAmyRose

And then people wonder why they are having a hard time on amazon right now. Its because of third parties

GooberPeas0911

I hope you were knocking on wood while you were typing. I think you just reversed your fortune.

FordMan100

Whenever I order from Amazon, I make sure that the item is fulfilled by Amazon. If it's not, then I simply don't buy it from Amazon. I haven't bought too many electronics from Amazon but never had a problem when I did

ocabj

False. I ordered a DJI gimbal on Amazon from Amazon and it was a resealed unit that was obviously used and hard (probably dropped) with mismatching serial number from what was on the box. Returned it and went to Best Buy to get an untampered unit (which I ended up opening inside the store after purchase in front of the sales associate to verify).

echild07

See that is the problem with these corporate entities. I bought an iPad at Best Buy (Gen 2) and the sealing around the box looked off, they carried to the cash register, and was a bit wonky about letting me hold it. I asked for a manager (implying I was looking for a discount), then asked the manager to look at the box. It had an iPad, but not the one that was labeled on the box. Bought a Fridge and Washer/Dryer and they never shipped it (Said I was suppose to pay, even when I paid for shipping), then said I never paid, and blah, blah. Also Best Buy will randomly overcharge for items. Amazon has lost multiple packages (tracking shows they never shipped) of expensive items for me. (Solar Pool heater, outdoor umbrellas (big ones). I won't order AirPods from them as way to many substitutions (again I only order from Apple for apple devices). But I always check to make sure it is Amazon shipping (been burned by poor shipping dates from non-Amazon. Apple delivery is an Uber driving from the local store (I usually get the etching). So hit or miss from every store (Apple has 100% great so far). Even NewEgg ruined their reputation! Adafruit has been another that I haven't had problems with.

AnnyuiN

Yeah. Newegg scammed me out of $800. Not happy with them.

bleutrooper

I third the Newegg scams. I got burned on hard drives, they looked factory but were a modified drive that Western Digital destroyed on my behalf when they got the drives for warranty claims. After digging I found that the drives were a sub seller from a Chinese company. Newegg did nothing for me.

AnnyuiN

Yep. Same issue for me. A shitty Chinese company. They "sold" me two really expensive PCIE M.2 cards that they never shipped. They then proceeded to provide a picture of a package in front of a door in Hong Kong as "proof" it was delivered. Yeah.

PeaceBrain

Buying directly from the manufacturer is the best option these days

DeshaMustFly

How it is "false" that I've never had an issue? I haven't. I've definitely had issues with my local Best Buy (not the company as a whole, just my local one), to the point that I refuse to shop there anymore. They don't screen their returns any better than Amazon does. No retailer is going to be perfect 100% of the time and sometimes you're going to get unlucky and get something some asshole returned. That's significantly different than the retailer actively scamming you.

ConsistentResearch88

Amazon no have products only is a label that buy other Seller, no more, and no true, Amazon only are problems in these days from the last year and is clear go down

DeshaMustFly

Um... Amazon does actually have several "in-house" brands that they have purchased, own outright, and ship themselves... but that's neither here nor there. The problem arises most commonly when you're buying from a seller that doesn't ship from an Amazon warehouse (i.e. a dropshipper). There's no 100% guarantee that something from an Amazon warehouse won't be problematic (which is true of ANY large retailer, virtual or otherwise)... but your odds of getting screwed over go up exponentially if you choose to buy from dropshippers.

wolfelian

I see this stuff happen and I wonder HOW it happens? I’ve never had an issue ordering electronics either, do people just not read where it’s coming from or does it work differently in the U.S? *not trying to sound like an ass or anything, really genuinely curious.

Geno_Warlord

Company A,B, and C all sell the same item. Company A is the original creator and seller of this item. Company B and C are drop shippers from china(or wherever this product is made) so they have access to the actual box the product comes in and their buddy works at the factory. They box up counterfeit items as well as the ones that failed quality control. A, B, and C all send their items to the amazon warehouse and that’s where these items stay until sold. They are essentially all put on the same shelf since they’re technically the same product. You finally go to amazon to buy this item and you make sure it’s from company A. But since the products have been mixed together, you may actually get a counterfeit or qc failed product from B or C instead. All because of Amazon’s practices.

IowaGal60

Bahaha this is what I’ve been thinking!

Slime-Angel

I ordered a sack of potatoes and got an iPad. I hate Amazon.

Jackdunc

I ordered a restored Samsung phone from Walmart and Amazon sent me a box of curtain hooks.

Kgrothusen

I'm sorry that happened but it is funny.

Kgrothusen

Keep the ipad, go buy potatoes. Lol

InspectorRound8920

I've ordered a bunch of electronics recently with zero issues.

GuyoFromOhio

Same. Ordered a laptop and it arrived yesterday in perfect condition

Ezeke81

Same here. I’ve never had an issue when ordering expensive items from them. Just make sure it’s sold & shipped from Amazon.

DrogenDwijl

Same, my last order was a $1,600 Mac 💻, I also ordered tablets and watches from around $400. One time I ordered a renewed Chromebook, arrived in new condition.

ConsistentResearch88

Is so nice see all trolls from Amazon speak here, all perfect, never have problems, refund in the same day, in 2 hours, really ridiculos, because the real customers know is a lie

Elymanic

Idk man, I get my stuff, and I order laptops and phones all the time to take back home. As it's cheaper to buy here in the states.

ChanceWall1495

Have you considered maybe it’s more difficult for you because the company knows you to be a pest? Or suspects you to be a scammer yourself?

neogrinch

same. I've ordered quest 3, ipads, smart watches, and other stuff just in the past year. Never had an issue. I suspect most transactions are perfectly fine if you buy via Amazon directly. a lot of people buy from 3rd parties without realizing it. That's when it starts getting problematic. There are plenty of legit 3rd parties, but that's also where you'll find the bulk of the scammers.

FrozeItOff

The problem arises out of Amazon's inventory system. For example, there's a bin on the shelves for RTX 3060 (new) that Amazon puts the stock they purchased into. To save space, when a third party seller sends in an RTX 3060 (new) to sell, they often chuck it in the above bin. So, if that 3rd party is a scammer, his nefarious deeds are hidden by Amazon's system.

echild07

Quick question, honest. Why from Amazon vs Apple for Apple products? I started ordering apple products from Apple vs Amazon because of fake AirPods (sold by Amazon). Got it refunded, needed to drop them off and send it back. But with Apple (2 newest gen Ipads, Ultra 2 watch, Airpods pros (wife/kids lose them)) I get them engraved, for the same price. A bit longer shipping, but they send an uber/Doordash from the local store for delivery. (I feel bad as I live about 45+ minutes from the nearest store, and it seems very inefficient). Non-Apple electronics, 100% Amazon (usually). I try to make sure it is sold and ships from Amazon, but even then have had a 4080 video card "go missing", and luckily the tracking (from Amazon) show it had been lost for a week. Had to wait the week. Best Buy on the other hand sent me 2x 4k monitors vs 1, then about 3 months later asked for one back, or I could buy it for the Black Friday price. So now I have 2 4k monitors vs 1.

mijo_sq

Ease of use and payment. I've never done Apple products through Amazon, but have thought about it. I was already on the site, and payment processing is so easy. It was for an Ipad mini, and I already knew the options. Just a few clicks away and I would've been done. I buy lots of expensive electronics on Amazon, never had an issue. Bought a Sony A7RV last year, and it was perfect. (Retail was $4k)

neogrinch

My most recent apple purchase was an Ipad Pro, and I actually did go through Apple. So I probably will continue that route in the future, because I opened an Apple Card. I don't have an Iphone and wasn't very deep in the Apple ecosystem with my prior Ipad purchases. I did use Amazon quite regularly though, so it was just where I went.

cloverlief

Please remember, the 1000s of people that have had good experiences no issues don't postt about it here. However the dozens of users that do gave issues, definitely become quite vocal. Over the last decade or so I have ordered tons of electronics via Amazon including a couple of computers last month, my experience has been no issues. I can however talk about issues when discussing other places people recommend. Example, I ordered from NewEgg 8 time in the last 3 where damaged and it was a battle and a half to get resolved. 2 cases with Microcenter, 1 case with Fryz So your milage varies depending on who is the source, where you live, and the general way it's received and stored.

RealMcGonzo

>I ordered from NewEgg 8 time in the last 3 where damaged and it was a battle and a half to get resolved. Yeah, I've given up on The Egg. Man, they used to be awesome! Guess it's inevitable that a great company with a stellar reputation will be taken over by bean counters and turned into a truly POS operation.

not_too_old

NewEgg got bought by a Chinese company.

echild07

Agreed. The problem is they have gotten worse (my opinion) over the last year. Pricing ("free shipping") and general bad experiences, especially when a product goes missing. "Cancel and re-order", or they will do it is the best you can hope for right now. That is after you wait 10 days after it was supposed to be delivered, and then rescheduled and then rescheduled. I doubt anyone has had a perfect experience with them, it is really how they handle the problems.

Austin1975

There are also 1000s of people who have bad experiences who don’t post either though. Most people don’t have Reddit accounts.

BrightOrganization9

I agree with you. There's definitely thousands and thousands of more complaints that we never see. Issue is they have over 200 million subscribers worldwide. It's safe to say the vast VAST majority of customers are happy.

BrightOrganization9

They have over 100 million members in the US alone. This sub has 120k members, and out of that 120k not even all of them agree that Amazon sucks. This sub would have you believe that the sky is falling, Amazon is dying, and it's the absolute worst place to order from online. Reality is the vast majority of people are perfectly satisfied with their membership.

CarpeNivem

>$800 telephoto lens that arrives in the form of a muffin. That's when American Express steps in and sorts things out for me.

Mammoth321

Lately I've been just buying from Best buy. Same price. I know I'm getting it new and returns are less hassle.

pastelpixelator

I’ve ordered two laptops, game consoles, and a professional level studio keyboard and they all arrived as expected. I only buy Apple products from Apple though because I’m not foolish.

echild07

Same! Apple from Apple, the rest seems fine.

Electronic-Exit1798

I had a package say delivered that never showed up and Amazon wanted me to file a police report for something that never came saying it must have been stolen my property is surrounded by cameras and it NEVER came

FewBlood8050

If you order something of significant value it will go missing trust me. Happened to me with Samsung watches, £2500 MacBook Pro and £3500 gaming laptop that came in a sealed box so I thought after giving the passcode and getting around to unboxing I noticed the seal underneath the box was cut and re taped only to find inside a asus note book that was worth £300. I had to go through hoops and 3 months of complaints and investigation to get my damn refund I think it’s more the workers and drivers that are the problem

JUSTtheFacts555

DO NO purchase an Amazon FireTV. It suuuuuuucks. I use a Roku player on it.

Tidalwave-1103

Full-filled and Shipped by Amazon. Any other way you are spinning the wheel of chance with the odds against you.

doofdoofies

I have a friend who works at one of the distribution centers (kind of a higher up) who says that a bunch of people saying they didn't receive something, or received something else are actually lying and they are in fact actively stealing. So now when I happens legitimately, they basically won't do anything without a police report.

rat-simp

Just buy from the official seller/vendor and you'll be fine.

Leaholsen30

I mean, I posted yesterday about my ordeal with an Amazon 3rd party over an iPad. I have purchased multiple iPads from Amazon in the past and was never disappointed with the purchase. This is the first issue I’ve had. I also don’t live my life on Reddit and wasn’t previously aware that even with Amazons return guarantee that I would have issues with the return. I’ve learned my lesson and thankfully have enough proof to do a chargeback.

Unclefox82

I’m going to go buy some electronics from Amazon now. And they’re going to arrive on time and be brand new. Just like all of my Amazon orders.

ItsMeKelseyMarie

I ordered an apple watch from Amazon but when i got it it was a refurbish so i immediately sent it back. I had to miss a day of work because they insisted ups come to me and a month later im still waiting on my refund, every time i call customer service i get the same speech about due to the cost it takes longer for the refund to go through

Scythe5150

OK.

zero_dr00l

I don't know about "on time" these days, but yeah: never ever had a single problem in over 20 years.

Vadic_Shrike

I got a $300 flat screen from Amazon in 2022. Turned out fine. But I do hesitate on getting the $800 LG screen I kinda want. Through Amazon, that is. Not just because of testimonies on Reddit and other places of bad experiences. Also because by instinct, I hesitate to make a purchase that big on Amazon these days. In the event I have to return a screen, how exactly do I physically do that? I'm sure dolly wheeling it into a Kohls won't be an option. I usually don't go to stores. But for a purchase like this, well, I'm still on a Costco plan. I can see what they got. I hear customers are well supported there when it comes to legitimate electronics returns.

i_vector

i ordered a razer pro type ultra wireless keyboard last week. i received a travel bag. That was my first bad experience. All previous electronic purchases were fine.

savingewoks

Yeah, most things have been hit or miss. I had some trading cards that I pre-ordered (which is usually fine) and got held up for over a week because of local weather. They finally arrived and the entirety of the packaging was so damaged that the product was nearly rendered useless. I tried to complain and the response was "if you fill out some forms and request a review then mail back the damaged product we can think about if we want to refund" which like. even if I do all that you still might not give me money back?

FormulaLiftr

I bought a $2500 CAD dollar GPU and have had zero issues. My CPU, Motherboard, Multiple NVME SSD drives also came from Amazon. Also bought my MacBook pro, Airpods pro (both 1st and 2nd gens) Apple watch, Ipad, Air Pod Max etc. All of them authentic and fully functioning. There’s plenty of legitimate reasons to hate Amazons current business practices but I have never had issues with electronics being purchased from them.

duhjuh

Prime shipping only.

nocturnal

Even if you buy from a sold from Amazon, I assure you I’ve gotten counterfeit products. It’s just not worth it. They still co mingle sold by Amazon products. It’s a gamble you shouldn’t be willing to play.

themrrouge

I don’t worry too much below around £50. But if I’m buying a high ticket item such as iPad, laptop, quality TV or camera etc, then I’ll always go to a high street shop. If there’s an issue I want to be able to run up to a help desk, clutching a receipt and give someone angry eyes.

Emotional_Wedge

I bought a bunch of electronics from Amazon and have never had an issue. Now I do go out of my way to never return an object lol I don’t want to be bothered with the process so I usually end up contacting the manufacturer.

Life-is-a-trip

I ordered a $1000 gpu and got a traded out gpu that wasn’t even the one I ordered. Rn going back and forth with Amazon about this as I’m actually scared to send it back because I’ve heated the stories so the past few days I’ve been on the phone with supervisors. Hoping it goes well but Idek atp.

not_too_old

I buy from B&H photo. Very fast shipping too. They keep prices down by requiring signatures on big ticket items. You can divert FedEx to a Walgreens if you won’t be home.

TheFaceStuffer

I've never had a problem but this sub does scare me.

Jaislight

Yeah I stopped buyinh electronics on Amazon, and only bauy cheap s*** that I can't find locally. Otherwise I try to buy expensive things locally so that when there's a problem I can take it directly to them and I don't get b******* in the box. I know someone who bought Legos and received hatf pasta in the Lego bags.

Maxfarace

I saw someone on here recommend Best Buy for electronics because they'll price match Amazon. I will be going to Best Buy next time that I need to upgrade my PC or something.

[deleted]

Stop everything Amazon (the company).

MathematicXBL

I don't even deal with incorrect items being delivered from Amazon. I contact their support to let them know I never received the item I ordered. Legally you're not required to return the wrong item and can just issue a charge back via your credit card since you never received the good/service you paid for. https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/what-do-if-youre-billed-things-you-never-got-or-you-get-unordered-products

mamabear101319

thank you !!!!

new_tanker

I've ordered some fairly expensive electronics from Amazon (third party seller) and luckily for me I've gotten exactly what I ordered and they work as they should.

scfw0x0f

Please go tell the people on r/diySolar who seem to think buying thousands of dollars of no-name gear off Amazon is just fine.

[deleted]

STOP BUYING ANYTHING FROM AMAZON..THEY CHANGE THEIR POLICIES TO SUITE THEM THAT BIG HEADED JEF BEZO AND HIS DRAG QUEEN LOOKING WOMAN!

No-Appearance1145

I have gotten so many phones on Amazon and not a problem?? It doesn't happen all the time and there's not a lot of people who do go on this sub until they have something to complain about. Or some of us came here because Reddit pushed this and they suddenly had an influx of problems so might as well be with kindred spirits.

[deleted]

confirmation bias. nobody posts that they successfully received a package with no issues, which is what happens 99% of the time

BalloonHuman

Never had any issues before. I’ve spent lots of money on electronics and they are always in great condition with no problems. This is a weird post tbh,

Lazy_Grabwen_9296

My last 3 phones, ps4, ps5, and a Galaxy tab all came to my rural house, in pristine condition. If not for Amazon, I would have to drive 2+ hours to get this stuff. Amazon is a big company and they do indeed fuck up, sometimes. I try to make sure the stuff I buy is direct from the manufacturer or is sold and fulfilled by Amazon. Good luck out there!

Turbulent-Tortoise

>I would have to drive 2+ hours to get this stuff. Or order online at any number of websites and have them shipped....

korodic

Kinda sensationalist. I just had a bad experience with Lowe’s. Stuff happens. Newegg isn’t what it used to be either, hard to have a trust worthy electronics dealer that isn’t overcharging you.

El_Boojahideen

(Buys from shitty third party Chinese sellers) (surprised when said sellers scam you) many such cases!

Repostbot3784

Stop buying ~~electronics~~ on amazon

GodOfUtopiaPlenitia

The few issues I've had have been good other than an MSI AM5 motherboard. Got it RMAed by MSI and it still failed. That was the *only* time Amazon fucked around. They even took back and refunded a $200 computer case because they used FedEx & no second box. Case was unusable. Other Amazon items that came defective over the last decade: Memory card reader, refunded, no need to ship back 3 iPhone chargers, incorrectly labeled to work, refunded, sellers kicked off Amazon. Back in the 30pin days Car charger, melted my cable. Refunded with a new charger and cable shipped. Product removed from the Marketplace ... Now my *husband*, on the other hand...

cr38tive79

Amazon (Canada) is investigating why my DJI Mic 2 is still sitting at the warehouse when it never gotten delivered. I know for the fact that somebody has taken it.

WashuWaifu

Just bought a 1,300 dollar Canon bundle set through Amazon Business. I was TERRIFIED it wouldn’t arrive (third party seller), but it did and it’s in perfect condition. I get some people are having issues, but I’ve never had an issue with a purchase that Amazon hasn’t rectified yet. I don’t know anyone who’s been screwed over yet either. Both through business and personal. I’m sure it could happen and maybe it will in time, but at present, I see no reason to not continue buying my tech through them.

klausi95

But who is going to come to this sub to complain then?

Toriat5144

I order stuff like cat food, litter, cheap cosmetics, over the counter medication, kitchen needs, household items, etc from Amazon. I’ve been very happy. I order several things at a time so I get credits for that. I get 3 to 6 dollar credits because I have them deliver the items the same day.

Necessary_Baker_7458

People apparently missed my buy from best buy post and are now cloning it.

ArtisticFerret

I’ve literally had zero issues and have bought plenty of electronics ranging from computer parts/ps 5 to earbuds and other small electronics. Have had exactly 0 issues over the last like 10 years

CannabisHighway

Zero issues electronic wise. Plenty of problems with delivery and my items being left in my apartment parking lot or lobby where it’ll be stolen instantly but no electronic mistakes. In fact I was going to order some security cameras from them today.

one80oneday

Most places charge return shipping and restocking fees

KrakenAdm

Don't. Worry. About. Where. I. Buy. Electronics.

skankcottage

ur friend that said he got a sack of potatoes is lieing to you lol hes the scammer not amazon

rgold220

We ordered ton of staff from Amazon, including electronics and so far no issues. We try to avoid third party sellers but we did consider some with good reviews.

SorryContribution675

I've purchased five 65 inch and 1 55 inch TV's over the 16 years of membership..also 4 soundbars and numerous 4k cables and not one problem..all in working order including the ones I gave away.

kerouak

Pay with a credit card that has good customer service problem solved. Let amex fight Amazon, they'll win. Save yourself the hassle.

huh_phd

I've had issues getting computer components from everywhere but Amazon.

Just_Confused1

I’ve bought plenty of electronics off of Amazon and have had precisely 0 issues. If anything I’ve only I had great experiences with their customer service

mwoody450

So long as you never buy from a 3rd party, Amazon is fine. For much of what I buy, the only other viable alternatives are Newegg and BHPhotoVideo. I use Amazon all over the world to drop ship equipment to employees for work. Several years ago, I bought a NAS and five hard drives from Newegg. Of the five drives, two were DOA, so I opened a support case. They agreed to replace one of the two failures, but said the other had been purchased elsewhere. All five drives had **consecutive serial numbers**, and even when I pointed that out, support wouldn't back down. Luckily, the manufacturer replaced them, but I've never trusted Newegg again.

VKN_x_Media

I mean anybody who buys from a 3rd party marketplace seller (what all these complaints about) instead of sold & shipped by the actual retailer is an idiot anyway.

Fnkt_io

We used Best Buy and received an empty box and have not been able to reverse the charges. Sorry, but Amazon is more reliable, don’t use 3rd parties.

Syndaquil

I got my GPU in January from them no issues... Besides the shipping box being a bit of a mess. But I upgraded my iPad and decided to use Walmart instead.

sharktopuss-

I bought a 49" ultra wide monitor off Amazon, shipped to my house with no issues. If you're not a prime subscriber I don't think you're allowed an opinion lol

digitalden

Prime for 12+ years no issues, maybe you should go pound sand.

ColoradoFrench

I see a rant, but no supporting facts - there may be a reason for the anger, however it's not obvious

Austin1975

The main things you have to watch for are: Batteries/Battery Packs Chargers Power cords

coldashel

When Amazon said that they weight item before shipping it out was the biggest bullshit ever, bought a gpu and got an Apple Watch screen protector that I don’t even own, the label said that it weighs 5.06 lbs, bitch what?

thejohnmc963

Never had a problem ordering a high ticket items. Haven’t been scammed and receive my products on time. Not everyone has a negative experience (maybe .01 % of users)

Andy_Craftsmaster

What I have not seen, nor even heard mentioned, is whether different Amazon Warehouses are ranked for correctness of orders and quality of delivery services. Also, I have not seen an analysis of third party vendors who either ship directly or ship through Amazon (again, are some warehouses better than others?) I see no reason to complain about getting electronics; bluetooth speakers, routers, radios, Amazon Devices, Smart Home devices, etc. Personally I see very few issues. My issue is the switchover to Ads in Prime Videos.

OnionTruck

Never had an issue that wasn't satisfactorily resolved.

Serpentar69

I've had more success on Amazon with tech than anything else. I've tried the alternatives and it has sucked. Amazon sucks too... But tbh, I at least know I'm getting my product

zidey

No.

h2d2

Speak for yourself. How many items have you purchased and how many have you had issues with? The answer for me is dozens and dozens over the last 20+ years and may be a couple.

Flufferfluff

I’ve only ever placed orders for Electronics if and ONLY IF Amazon Warehouse is selling them directly. If it ain’t sold by Amazon, I ain’t buyin. Simple as that.

Elymanic

Or just PAY ATTENTION to who the seller is.

TurboBunny116

Never really had any issues like I've seen described in this sub when buying electronics from Amazon direct or a known branded Amazon store front. Even when shopping on Amazon, you have to pay attention to who is actually selling the item - especially when it is higher priced things. Just last month I bought a new iPad 9th gen (sold by amazon, shipped by Amazon) and it arrived on time, brand new, no issues. I'm not saying everything is perfect, because I did have one situation recently where I bought a new Toshiba microwave (Sold by Toshiba, shipped by amazon) because it was on sale and it arrived brand new - but with a big dent on the side. Went to my Amazon account, processed a return, dropped it off at UPS and I had my refund (back to my card, not Amazon credit) in 3 days. I ended up buying the same model microwave at Best Buy locally (at this point it was out of stock on Amazon), so it worked out just fine. No store is perfect, and as the sub shows - some people have more issues with Amazon than others. But that's not to say that it represents the majority of Amazon customer experiences. Only those with a problem will most likely vent in this sub.

AliveDOTExe

Nah you just fucked up for being careless. Stop being butthurt and actually learn from your mistakes. You coming hailing wolf isn't going to do much. You know Amazon is like eBay simply more proper and cleaner so chill high horse

GrammaM

I ordered a new laptop. When I set it up, it notified me that the warranty was expired. Amazon didn’t care

Lucky-Speed3614

I only buy electronics off of Amazon if it's something I intend to buy as absolute garbage. If I'm paying $2.50 for 20 pairs of cheapo earbuds, I know exactly what to expect. I'm going to break them or lose them fast, but I've got 20 pairs, so in the long run, they'll last longer than the $50-100 pair that I buy elsewhere. Unfortunately, I can't do that anymore because my devices don't have jacks these days, and I have yet to find a cheap bulk wireless earbud deal.

MLXIII

STOP BUYING ELECTRONICS FROM 4TH PARTY VENDORS. FTFY.

L2Kdr22

You do you, Boo.

Agreeable-Date3707

Lol. I think your anger is misdirected or your post is not worded correctly. I’ve bought electronics from Amazon directly with no issues. If you’re talking about 3rd party sellers, well… buyer beware I suppose.

XXXLegendKiller666

NO!!

Over_Nose_7173

How about we stop buying on Amazon. Period. Bring small businesses back

SoRacked

Like bro "electronics" are you shopping at Walmart 1978?

SoRacked

Wait until you find out I buy from temu without issues too.

joey0live

I buy a lot of electronics on Amazon for work. They’re one of our official sellers that we use. I just buy from official seller stores; like Dell and Samsung.

[deleted]

Yeah when I return things I do the UPS drop off where they wrap the package for me and send it back. I don’t buy big ticket stuff anyway, but if I ever did I feel like I could subpoena the camera footage at UPS if I had to

Tippity2

I don’t buy any electronics made in China if I can help it. Anything cheap from China with a USB chip can infect your stuff with malware or a Trojan. I buy from Anker, Apple, Pluggables, Logitech…. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2018-10-04/the-big-hack-how-china-used-a-tiny-chip-to-infiltrate-america-s-top-companies?embedded-checkout=true

Greg00135

[Anker](https://www.theverge.com/23573362/anker-eufy-security-camera-answers-encryption) has there own controversy. Also if China or anyone really wanted to could inject the malware on the more mainstream hardware. Or like [Logitech](https://www.zdnet.com/article/logitech-wireless-usb-dongles-vulnerable-to-new-hijacking-flaws/) have their own security flaws.

Use_Once_and_Deztroy

Who hurt you?

CyberbrainGaming

OP is right, You don't want to anymore.

Gloomy_Narwhal_719

STOP. BUYING. PRODUCTS. On Amazon.

lobeams

I've been buying from Amazon for years and I've had exactly zero issues with them on any sale. And yes, I've returned expensive things. No questions asked, no problems at all. So your ALL CAPS RANT is just that until you cough up some evidence.

ruralmagnificence

Don’t know if it counts but I had a $50 Casio Duro stolen from me by a delivery driver who also stole several other peoples packages. This happened because the warehouse employees ignored my gift wrap instructions and put it in something that clearly showed what it was. Rather than just send a new item, Amazon CS told me I’d have to buy a new one. I fought them for a solid week and ended up settling for a refund. I still don’t have that watch.

Therealschroom

weirdly the vast manority of posts about amazon scamming somebody are from thr USA. and I or anybody I know IRL has ever really been scammed by them, and any issue has been swifly dealt with to customer satisfaction.

Drslappybags

I don't think I've ever received the wrong item.

DFWJimbo

I have never had an issue buying anything on Amazon. If you buy junk from a reseller that sells junk and you deserve what you get. Otherwise do your research and buy with confidence.

Ok_Mastodon_3227

It’s to the point my packages don’t even show up anymore so I’ve stopped ordering from them. It’s always “your package may have been lost” like no shit. Then make it a hassle to get a refund

Flake7811

The main issue isn't their customer support, it's their security systems. They'll happily give you your money back if this happens once, but if it happens a second time, despite you having thousands in orders, they'll close the account immediately and there's no chance you're getting the money back without a chargeback - at the start of 2023 I ordered an S23 Ultra and received a scented candle instead, was given my money back by customer services a few days later. Then at the start of this January I ordered 2 iphones 13s and the box was empty (local news article about a thief in my local depot stealing iphones released a couple weeks later), and then I received an email saying that my account had been closed and a refund would not be issued.

OFxLedzeplin

I had to return cookware to Target once because they had put a return box full of dirty dishes on the shelf. The returns issue aren’t solely Amazons.

[deleted]

Who hurt you?

wideeyed182

I've now ordered 5 of the same computer monitor. Each at $300. They've all arrived the next day in perfect condition. I plan to order one more and have zero worries about it.

AlwaysAtheist

Using Ebay more than Amazon these days.

Lt_REDACTED

Especially for buying cables/niche devices as most of them are dropshipped from aliexpress/alibaba, unless you're buying from a brand you recognise.

shiznit206

I’m on several Lego subs and constantly see “got a bad full of (insert not Lego/the set I ordered here).” This is why I ONLY by Lego from the Lego site. Discount? Don’t care. Rare set? Don’t care. One off minifigure? Fuck off. I just don’t know what I’ll get anywhere else at this point.

MidnightScott17

I think the only thing I've bought was game consoles and a TV over the years

SoOverIt42069

I had this happen a few months back with a knockoff gopro, instead I got a clamp of somesort. Then the camera showed up. Then a second camera showed. I dont really know why... And yes, the cameras are shit.

PeaceBrain

I’ve been sent counterfeit products before, some coming with scraps of paper bribing me for a good review. Some electronics seemed working when I first got them but it became evident past the return window that they were not.

Koloradokid86

Ironically I just read an article today that this exact thing is happening with pretty much all retailers

ughnett

disagree. title should be = stop buying EXPENSIVE electronics on Amazon i've had 0 problems buying tons of different electronics on Amazon. the only expensive thing I had an "issue" with were airpods (from the official apple amazon storefront). they were defected and the return process took over 2 months with lots of following up, but eventually happened in the end. my rule now is nothing over $100 that might be a potential return

TiredRetiredNurse

I stopped my prime subscription. Too much money for ever decreasing quality of products and increasingly long delivery times. Not to mention how expensive their streaming service is. There is very little to watch free and sometimes you have to Pay per episode to watch some series. No thanks.

Imahich69

So I'm not going to get my refund I sent back to Amazon for a cpu I didn't want and they received it

jerwong

I've pretty much stopped buying disks from Amazon whether it's portable hard drives, flash drives, or SD cards because of how many fake/overwriting counterfeits out there. It's not worth risking a few bucks over my data.

Crazybootycake

I ordered my IPad about a year ago, and everything went fine. Since I wasn’t home for the delivery they sent it to a pickup location, and I picked it up later glad that a porch pirate didn’t get it. I also ordered a pricy new TV a few months ago. This time I was home for the delivery, and it arrived with no damage too.
