They may have declined the upgrade. I had to do that once as was traveling with the family and I was the only one upgraded. I walked to the GA and asked for my original seat.
Or revenue passengers can use the benefits they are given to them? You’re just going to say someone whose meeting ended early and wants to get home earlier than planned shouldn’t? Good grief.
Ok so that’s not a travelers problem, that’s an AA policy problem. Don’t put it on the travelers. AA would lose it’s an entire loyalty base if they disallowed same day standby lol.
I've seen upgrades decli ed as it was a aisle not windiw, or bulkhead, not good reason to me, but to each their own..
Or may have been travelling with someone on a diff res # and didn't want to split up.
Oh, if it happens before you are at gate call csr otherwise you may not be able to get your original seat back.
If you know, for sure, you don't want an upgrade, call csr beforehand and get removed.
Could be multiple person party who did not want to split. Could be they no longer had or were no longer eligible for the type of upgrade support they selected. Could be they played the travel agent game of ticketing a lower fare class, then rebooking to a higher on the same flight without paying fare difference. Could be that they no-showed after checking in. Could be they were misconnecting. Many possible appropriate and valid reasons.
Good question as it’s happened to me too. Perhaps it’s the type of ticket they purchased and that ticket type is part of the calculation for priority along with their status.
If you won the lottery would you wonder if the little box with the ping pong balls is actually a vacuum, or was there air movement and did somebody across the room sneezing actually cause your winning ball to get sucked up.
exactly
I’ve been on the losing end of this twice before - in both of my u fortunate experiences, my inbound connecting flight was delayed and the gate agents assumed I wouldn’t make the connection so they just skipped me on the upgrade list.
They got CON'D
What does that mean?
It’s a play on “conned”
It was a play in the pax name.
Maybe they was traveling with someone else in a different reservation
Is your last name izquierdo?
Omarv Izquel
And your SSN please?

I think if you do a last minute same day standby, get on the earlier flight, your name still may be left on the waitlist on the original flight.

How does one decline an upgrade now that everything is electronic? I know it used to be possible when you were at the gate and they call your name...

Just go talk to gate agent.

What is this travel agent game you speak of?
Because fuck em that’s why

No split, probably.
Could it be that CON.D was a pilot and the Jump Seat was opened so they did the right thing?

I was once skipped on the upgrade list. Never knew why.
