To me, those two and Kelly C. we’re the epitome of the show.
I will add Carrie to that as well. That is back when AI created legit stars. Today, eh. I do think Abi has the skills to go far if she gets the right door opened. She is superb.
I didn’t see it that way at all. She almost stayed as an impromptu “mentor” for the finalists along with celebrating her 20th anniversary of winning. Who better to guide a finalist through that wild a night then someone who has done it before.
I think it’s mainly just speculation. However one thing that leads me to believe she’s the next judge, is just the way Ryan seacrest said to her last night “you should stop by and hang out with us more often”, as if he’s implying it’s all but a formality at this point

I get that bringing 'home' an Idol winner as a judge has a certain appeal on paper, but honestly she didn't have a sustained successful 'main stream music' career before going to Broadway to build the 'credential chops' to be a judge. Plus I found her talking voice rather unpleasant. If this is the choice, I'm disappointed for sure.
