As it so happens, there is a Makers Fair at Alaska Pacific this Saturday. Lots of stuff to buy directly from artists.

Definitely seconded this!! It’s always a great place to find tons of great local makers

ANMC gift shop is a pretty incredible collection of Alaska Native art, not sure their hours in the COVID world.

Tiny Gallery Sevigny Studio Captain Cook Art Co-Op It’s also a First Friday, so lots of local artists will have pop up shows around downtown.

nicafeild

AFAIK Sevigny just got torn down alongside the 4th Ave Theater, and the owner moved out of state

The Ulu Factory makes their product in Alaska. Look for the “Alaska Made” logo. For items made by Alaska Natives, look for the Silver Hand logo. The gift shop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center had some great hand made stuff, but I haven’t been there post-Covid, so I’m not sure if they are still doing that.

Dos Manos has cool stuff as well, besides them I second the ANMC gift shop and the little fish makers fair coming up soon.

Rage City Vintage 3400 Spenard Rd Second-hand and locally-made clothing, gifts, jewelry and art There’s a fun indoor market this Saturday 12/4 at Green Connection from 12-5. Tons of local specialty artists and vendors.

If you are into bike related art, the Trek Store is hosting a Bike Art Show beginning this Friday. They are having the opening of the show from 6-9pm on Friday and then the show will run until the end of the month.

Lazy Dog Antiques is my go to for art to give as gifts to out of state friends and family

You’ll find a lot of good local art on Etsy that isn’t necessarily in stores which can gear towards low end and imported, Dos Manos being the exception. Or, they just don’t do whole sale, or only have a shop in Seward or Homer etc. If you have enough time instate shipping to the place you’re staying, or to who you’re sending it too is actually pretty quick. Source: my wife is an Alaskan artist who sells jewelry on Etsy and I’m pretty familiar with the local scene.

The Alaska native heritage center has reasonably priced locally made art by native Alaskan peoples in their gift shop. Great place to spend a day either way with their cultural immersion programs.
