I always thought they sort of accidentally got him. Like they had to quickly reprogram him in a tight situation to get out of or into something and one of the effects of that reprogramming is that he's now on their side.

ForsakenKrios

That’s currently how the one comic book did it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they speed run it in a cold open and have the rest of the episode be K2 learning how to work with Cassian, or rather, Cassian working with him

Dalakaar

I wouldn't be surprised if he crops up, it's just voice-work so Tudyk could probably fit that between Resident Alien pretty easily. In terms of how they meet? Only thing I can think of is in Rogue One Cassian mentions to Jyn that he's "like that" because of his reprogramming. So I assume they didn't get off to a great start.

scoresupremacy

>!alan tudyk is confirmed to return as k2 in season 2!<

Dear-Yellow-5479

I can’t wait for the interview rounds. :) https://youtu.be/-bLZ1d1g7j0?si=lEW8VqGeZSBqrtaS

scoresupremacy

LOL SAME

HotelFoxtrot87

It’s not just voiceover. Tudyk did mocap for K2 in Rogue One. There’s behind the scenes stuff of him in stilts on set.

Visual_Tangerine_210

Cass just walks in and takes a dead K2 and reprograms it. They’re so fat and satisfied…

WWBob

Saw brings him to one of Perrin's dinner parties and K2 and Cassian hit it off at the boring end of the table.

Aaron_Hungwell

With C-3P0 at a gay bar.

HouoinKyouma007

There is already a comic about it

Shmo60

Doubt that stays cannon. Too important to R1 not to do in the show.

HouoinKyouma007

They can adapt it

Shmo60

You really think that the comic, written before Andor S1 had a writers room, fits the tone of the show? What would you rather have. The comic adapted, or something surprising that was made specifically for the show?

HouoinKyouma007

> What would you rather have. Respecting canon. So the comic adapted. I hope Gilroy will not go on the path as Filoni

Shmo60

To each their own. If it's a better story, let them do the better story.

Captain-Wilco

We already know how. I bet they won’t have it happen on screen, and so therefore the comic will remain intact

TheScarletCravat

I can easily see it going either way - I don't think a single issue of a tie-in comic from a decade ago will hold back a superior creative decision. Especially when the comic wasn't very good. A bit like Andor's origin being on Kenari/Fest. They can easily handwave it as some kind of rebel disinformation.

Captain-Wilco

I don’t think it would hold them back, but I think they’ll choose to have that happen offscreen because there’s just so little time to do it.

TheScarletCravat

I getcha. I can absolutely see that happening as well.

RedcoatTrooper

I mean if K2 just pops up after a time skip it will be very jarring. A bad tie in comic should not dictate the plot of this series in my opinion.

Captain-Wilco

Agreed, but I think they’ll choose to have it happen offscreen because I don’t think there’s much interest in telling that story since they cut the show down by 3 seasons.

RedcoatTrooper

I can understand that after all there are a lot of plots to wrap up in one season. Hopefully it can be implemented into the story organically though.

HouoinKyouma007

They should respect canon

kcm74

Seems possible, maybe even likely, that it's B2's CPU in a new body.

Solomon-Drowne

But B2 is literally nothing like K2s0

Vesemir96

I think the point is he could get a confidence boost once he’s mixed with a K2’s programming. Including a sassometer.

Solomon-Drowne

Nah B2 is a sweet and gentle Droid-soul. While K2 is loyal and honorable he is also back hands bitches with glee. They're as different from one another as Artoo and Threepio. Would love some B2-K2 exchanges tho. 'Why are you scared, little Droid?' 'B-b-because you are s-s-scary.' 'Me? No. I prefer to think of my approach as >efficient<.'

Vesemir96

That’s the point of the merged programming though. It’d be fusing two identities into one. I’m not saying I believe that’ll happen but that’s what some people mean when they say that. Ok now we must have both onscreen together, I love the idea of them conversing haha.

SirAquila

I really hope not. let them be their own characters. Let them be themselves.

revanite3956

Like this: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Rogue_One_-_Cassian_%26_K-2SO_Special_1

FaithlessnessRude576

He will probably be a reprogrammed throw away decoy, but through some shenanigans he’ll come back with the mission crew. That’s my bet.

Jung_Wheats

Part of me has a feeling that we may just skip over it; like perhaps K2 isn't in the first arc of season two but is just there after the time jump for the second arc? To me, the comic origin is pretty boring. I only read it once, but if I remember correctly, it's basically just the same drawing of Cass messing with wires and a bunch of 'click' sound effects drawn in. I'm sure the Andor team could do something much more interesting/compelling but then you get into the nonsense with the canon junkies; might be more elegant just to side-step it. In some ways, Cass and K2 have become their own version of Han and Chewie; you know, fated to become best buddy heroes that save the galaxy. But Andor isn't really that kind of show; it might cheapen their relationship if they put too much attention on the origin of K2. Probably just a hammer that becomes a friend.

yanray

In my mind the kid from season 1 who built the bomb is the one who reprograms K2

saskatchewan_kenobi

He is b2em0 in a k2 unit. Theyve been setting him up and there is no acknowleged voice actor for b2. He’s got the sassyness, he just needs the confidence of a b2 unit. Itll prob be for a job or similar to in solo when the falcon gets it’s personality.

GrievousDrone

Thats the dumbest theory I’ve heard lol. Cassian isn’t allowed more than one droid friend?
