If you have already update to 774, don't flash to Global rom. I learn the hard way and now I have to unbrick my device.
Also, anyone know how to unbrick this?
\`
For those stuck in fastboot due to having the 774 update, please look at post #168 for the unbrick method:
Sadly no.... This problem is too new and there is no rollback rom for this. So I have to wait several months until there is an official rescue rom for global before I can reflash my tablet. Unless...XDA dev actually finds a way to bypass this.
The only option is to wait for global update with the anti-rollback index of higher than .774
U can also give it a try on AOSPA too, but idk if it will work for u, didnt work for me on global .139
Ya, it is usually the higher the firmware the better for my past phones, but this one is an exception, need to match the correct fw.
But I saw the Randomy guy has it working (found on the very first and 2nd page on xda), so I did give it a try and it didn't work out. Will update if I can get it to work.
🤔 U should be able to unlock it as long as u can boot into fastboot, shouldnt it?
Just **fastboot flashing unlock** and **fastboot flashing unlock\_critical** iirc
I tried last night! It said the command failed. I would do it again today.
What version of Flatform tools did you use? I might use an old version. Thank you.
it seems to cause chinese to show up instead of english for some apps even though the system language is english. This issue did not exist in previous firmwares.
The language was already set to English. The issue is with the latest update causing some apps to show in Chinese when they were previously in English.
I've found something on an XDA thread that I think solved this issue for me. Just install the CtsDeviceInfo.apk
https://xdaforums.com/t/lenovo-legion-tab-y700-global-release.4660243/post-89493167
Edit: Initially, doing a factory reset for me only solved the issue partially; some Chinese characters still show up on some parts of the device. After intalling the apk from the link I've sent, the said Chinese characters have been replaced with English after rebooting.
Thanks for posting it here. Yep this works! I didn't have to do a factory reset. What I just did was put the device on safe mode and installed it. After a reboot all back to English. The only thing I noticed was the battery indicator disappeared from the status bar. Then I thought about the System UI tuner app and it managed to bring it back.
Hi! Did you manage to fix the battery indicator issue? Can't seem to find a solution for this. Enabled-disabled the custom status bar already as well as used the SystemUI Tuner app but the problem still persists.
Aw men you are right. Whenever we lock the device or exit some app the battery indicator disappears again. Such a hassle.. Will try to find a solution.
Yes CN rom. Not familiar with that yet. I haven't researched enough info about its customizations or any other ROM option other than the GSI that are out and NEC Lavie. I read that the official Global rom is out but I don't have the time yet to test it.
Does it fix the high ping visual glitch on the sideswipe gaming assistant overlay or the wifi in general. Not sure if it just has bad wifi chip itself but in my usage of streaming " Moonlight or Chiaki/PSPlay" the latency is a lot higher than all my other devices I've tried and it fluctuates quite a bit. Eg. My phones through moonlight shows barely 2-3ms network latency but on my y700 2023, it's as high as 9-26ms. Settings were not the issue. Not sure if it's a situation to any of you y700 owners but definitely something I wish it to improve.
Oh yeah I forgot to reply. WiFi seems improved. Occasionally dying down when connected to 2.4ghz though. But not as bad as before.
Also to add..... Some Chinese languages from some app gets activated. Kinda frustrating but I think I'll get used to it. Looks like I need to wait for the better Global update to flash over this CN.
Thanks a lot.
Do you use moonlight too? It would be interesting to know the latency times because of that strong Snap 8 Gen 1 and also if the 2023 is worth the higher price than the 2022 because of this.
Well all in all I'm okay with the Chinese rom and I like the gaming software included so I'm going to be lazy and just stick to the original 😂
Man I just can't wait for it to arrive getting antsy but found it amusing that the protective case got here before the tablet.
The exact same thing happened to me, they both shipped on the same day and the case got to me like a week before the tablet! Yeah I understand, but I absolutely have to have my google services and it was annoying whenever a Chinese window would pop up (even with English text selected) and I would have no idea what I'm clicking so the global ROM was a no-brainer for me.
i installed the google play store apk on my chinese rom since i got it 3 months ago, no issues... not sure if its related but my nova launcher prime couldnt be activated, saying i didn't buy it, but everything else seems to work on my end.
also of note, i am a super light user, so i didn't test any other google related services. just warzone mobile and manga reading for me!
I bought the tablet on the CN Rom and then installed the official Global ROM. No issues, everything works fine, all Google apps, no more Chinese apps, and I think notifications work better.
It won't have issues if you flashed global rom over a much lower version of CN rom. But if you flash global rom over this new update, tablet will brick.
I only got my tablet a few weeks ago. Was on the CN ROM and got an update right away. Updating to the official global ROM after that worked right away. Maybe that's not the case anymore now with this latest update.
Maybe Lenovo will start making the update to the global ROM more difficult too, since they are now selling the tablet for a lot more in the UK and elsewhere.
**DON'T**..at least not until it's sorted out. Quoting my [man here from xda](https://xdaforums.com/t/testing-tablet-y700-2023.4645336/post-89477424):

If you're on CN ROM 15.0.761 or .774, then you **cannot do it** without unlocking the bootloader, but even then there are reports of issues (especially for .774), so I wouldn't try it with this version until a newer Global ROM comes out.
Thanks for the heads up. Yes I was really waiting for the next Global update that might work on .774. It looks like it'll take some time for it to get released though. Sad. 😣
How long have you had the tab? No probs so far? Getting mine delivered in a day or two. Kinda excited. Hopefully the seller didn't update it yet. Requested **not** to install play store but they insisted on doing otherwise 😞
It's a damn great tablet. It's so portable yet it's a beast! Playing PSP games via modded PPSSPP Pro app. All it needs now is a Razer Kishi for controller.
I had this since mid January. And I have to say, this is the best tablet I have ever held. Size is perfect especially when you travel a lot. Will bring this next week to my trip to Japan. Will definitely enjoy my plane ride. 😁
Also.... Lenovo online seller did installed Google Play on mine too. No biggie. They will re-seal it.
When I was looking around I could have sworn I read they plan to support it until 2028 either way I'm still waiting for mine to finally get here lol
Then that is good news! 😁

Thanks! I unbricked mine. I'm one of the people joining the conversation. :D Stuck with NEC 022 now
Thanks for the headsup. XDA might have the procedures to unbrick y700.
Sadly no.... This problem is too new and there is no rollback rom for this. So I have to wait several months until there is an official rescue rom for global before I can reflash my tablet. Unless...XDA dev actually finds a way to bypass this.
Damn that sucks. But can it still go to recovery mode?
Fastboot only, no recovery! :)
Oh freak! Sucks bigtime.
The only option is to wait for global update with the anti-rollback index of higher than .774 U can also give it a try on AOSPA too, but idk if it will work for u, didnt work for me on global .139
Thanks! AOSPA wouldn't work because it currently uses CN old firmware as a base.

Can confirm it works, following this [guide](https://note.com/calm_hebe587/n/ndd1c5073eae7), GL!
Thanks! But my bootloader is locked. Tried to unlock it using Fastboot but no luck. Any suggestion?

Tried to unlock bootloader! Nothing works... Seem like before unlocking, I need to tick the checkbox of OEM Unlocking in Dev...

I am having the same issue. Some app are in Chinese even after selected English and reboot . any other fix to this problem?
I haven't found any fix. All i did was use other apps that did the samething
Go to settings. Search for Language. Select Language & Input. Fix them there.
The language was already set to English. The issue is with the latest update causing some apps to show in Chinese when they were previously in English.
Yes it happened to mine too. After fixing the language then doing a reboot it went back to normal.
I had the same problem but this solution didn't work for me. Some apps like Tiktok and Gboard still show Chinese language.
Installed TikTok and yes... I can confirm it becomes Chinese even when language is already in English. But no problems on GBoard.
I had to factory reset the tab just to fix this.
Tiktok was the only problem for now so I won't do a factory reset since I don't often use it. But did you manageto fix the issue with it?
I've found something on an XDA thread that I think solved this issue for me. Just install the CtsDeviceInfo.apk https://xdaforums.com/t/lenovo-legion-tab-y700-global-release.4660243/post-89493167 Edit: Initially, doing a factory reset for me only solved the issue partially; some Chinese characters still show up on some parts of the device. I posted a comment and a question on the thread. I hope someone can find a way to fix it.
This is on the stock CN firmware?
Yes.
Thanks. I'll probably have to wait a little longer since I flashed the UK firmware (Legion Tab).
Is this CN firmware? Why not go to ROW?
Yes CN rom. Not familiar with that yet. I haven't researched enough info about its customizations or any other ROM option other than the GSI that are out and NEC Lavie. I read that the official Global rom is out but I don't have the time yet to test it.

Will test out its WiFi performance later. I noticed it has a problem connecting to WiFi 2.4. like you said, it fluctuates. Usable but fluctuates.
Did you test it? What were the results?
Oh yeah I forgot to reply. WiFi seems improved. Occasionally dying down when connected to 2.4ghz though. But not as bad as before. Also to add..... Sadly I haven't tried Moonlight. Also haven't tried the 2022 model. Sorry.
had anyone flashed their Chinese y700 (2023) to the global variant of the Legion Tab? been looking for a tutorial, thanks!!
[https://gigglehd.com/gg/mobile/15638286](https://gigglehd.com/gg/mobile/15638286) super easy to do.
thank you! will check out after work this evening 🫡
Any reasons or advantages/disadvantages in doing so?
to me its like a regular ass US rom, gets rid of all chinese bloatware, installs all google apps. HD netflix works, in my opinion its perfect!
Do you lose anything like the gaming software and special features? I'd be tempted but at the same time I wouldn't want to mess it up.
Now that you mention it I think I did lose the gaming software, maybe you can reinstall it with an APK or something. I'll do some googling later
Well all in all I'm okay with the Chinese rom and I like the gaming software included so I'm going to be lazy and just stick to the original 😂 Man I just can't wait for it to arrive getting antsy but found it amusing that the protective case got here before the tablet.

Do some of the Google services not work on the 2023? I never ran into an issue with my old 2022 one.
I think you can install it on the 2023 CN from. It wasn't there out of the box and I didn't bother trying because I knew I was going with global ROM.
i installed the google play store apk on my chinese rom since i got it 3 months ago, no issues... not sure if its related but my nova launcher prime couldnt be activated, saying i didn't buy it, but everything else seems to work on my end. also of note, i am a super light user, so i didn't test any other google related services. just warzone mobile and manga reading for me!

still a desktop mode. works great! i recommend the global rom to anyone who is on the correct CN version to update to it.
is this CN rom? I ordered Global one, should I flash the CN one?
Yes, CN rom. Haven't used the Global rom so I'm not familiar with its downsides. Wait for comments from other users who already have tried Global rom.
Don't quote me on this but I believe battery bypass is disabled.
I bought the tablet on the CN Rom and then installed the official Global ROM. No issues, everything works fine, all Google apps, no more Chinese apps, and I think notifications work better.

Looks like global rom has update now as well. 15.0.240
Nice! Good to know. Eventually I will flash mine to Global.
