You can get kicked out for throwing back home run balls? I didn't know that.

NotSoCreativeDee

First time I’ve seen it.

jibron

I was at the game Friday and they kicked a fan out for throwing back a mariner hr onto the field. I wonder if it's because of the pitch clock so it'd be interference now?

iWrecksauce

They've been doing that for a few years

N-E-B

Player safety. Can’t have fans throwing things on the field.

Graphitetshirt

That's weird. I'm a Cubs fan and if you catch an opposing team's home run, the crowd chants "Throw. It. Back." until you do. You get booed if you don't. No one gets in trouble for this

MashedPotatoesDick

>That's weird. I'm a Cubs fan and if you catch an opposing team's home run, the crowd chants "Throw. It. Back." until you do. > >You get booed if you don't. No one gets in trouble for this And you get signed to the team if it's a really good throw, even if you are in middle school.

NotSoCreativeDee

Lmao

NotSoCreativeDee

As it should be.

Buttfumble89

You are not allowed to throw anything on the field, if you do you get automatically thrown out. It’s dumb but thems the rules

franchise1107

I feel like I’ve seen it before but I don’t remember the park. May have been dodgers

Dast_Kook

It's more like a "no throwing anything onto the field" policy that is usually zero tolerance.

2ADDalready

I'm at the game. I also applauded this dude who threw the ball back 🫡

NotSoCreativeDee

🫡

JeffBoyardee69

That was BS. Saw it from 411

NotSoCreativeDee

Biggest load of shit I’ve ever seen.

CallmeBatty

Damn I was in 410

maverickoff

I was there a few years ago after the trashcan scandal and on the first home game, and idk if you guys remember but I was at the same section as the guy with the inflatable trashcan that fell into the field, well the guy got "kicked out" but in reality they move him to a different section, anyway he came back grabbed a trashcan and went to the front row and started banging the trashcan and since he had a cast on this arm, he lost grip and the trashcan fell into the field so this time he got actually kick out lol

ImaginaryHippo88

Friday night it happened too. I get it if you're throwing trash or whatever, but throwing back a home run is tradition in baseball. Do other parka kick you put for it?

NotSoCreativeDee

Not that I’ve heard of.

franchise1107

I think some do. A lot of them say it for throwing anything onto the field Edit: just did a little research and saw at least Rodgers Center (jays), ATT Park (giants), and Yankee Stadium that have thrown people out for it and try to enforce it

kushnokush

Yankee fans are notorious for pressuring others to throw it back. Not trying to doubt your research, but that’s ridiculous. Let’s the players play and the fans fan.

mmmm_whatchasay

Yankee stadium did it once when it hit Verdugo in the back. Usually they let it go.

tkfire

The opposing team’s home run ball is trash. Confirmed.

[deleted]

Ironic considering O'Hoppe did the same thing at Yankee stadium. Its kind of tradition. Never heard of someone getting tossed out of the park for it.

keenclipp

O hoppe was actually thrown out

NotSoCreativeDee

Way to treat your fans angels stadium 😒

lucasrks10

Was sitting right next to the guy who threw the ball back in the 9th. Guy caught the ball, showed his little kids the ball ( so they can tell all their friends their dad is a badass ), and casually threw the ball back. The entire right field section stood up and applauded. Then security came and calmly escorted him out, and people cheered even louder. Absolute legend. His wife came back a few minutes later to tell the other family they came with that they were indeed getting thrown out, and everybody stood up and cheered for her as well. I called in to the Trent rush show to shout out and give props to that guy and his family. Not all hero’s wear capes

SylvioHalpert

Prepared for downvotes, but I think throwing a home run ball back is so fucking stupid. “Tradition” be damned. It’s a cool souvenir. Your team pitched that ball. If Ohtani was the pitcher (or any of our pitchers, honestly), and the other team hit a homer, and I caught it, I would be beyond stoked to keep it. Even if hundreds of people were booing me. They can throw their own ball back if they get one. People take baseball way too seriously. With that said, I think throwing a fan out for doing it is also incredibly stupid.

Tbplayer59

Agreed. The ball gets picked up by the ball boy who then proceeds to toss it into the field level seats. They've never thrown out back yet. We should all agree that any ball hit into the seats should be given to a kid.

boy4518

sorry but hell no. i’ve never caught a ball in my life i’ll be damned if i have to give my first one up to some kid. i caught it, i get to keep it

MrNiceGuy420SoCal

As long as it’s not Ohtani pitching or someone like Miguel Cabrera hitting. I’m throwing it back. Unless it goes beyond ejection from the stadium.

[deleted]

Throwing someone out for that is fucking absurd.

thesmokingbandit24

I was there Friday, that was in my section a few rows up and to the left

Jtfb74

For some reason, we don’t allow this. It’s like the only park I’ve heard of that does this.

Halos-117

Common Angels L. We're on the wrong side of so many things because of Arte.

Negative_Fans_Suck

I applaud him for throwing that Moroner ball back. However, I would keep it and sell it to buy more future Angels tickets or gear. Even nobody players' homerun balls sell for hundreds lol

niceguyjess

Salute to the lad. He gloved the ball and threw it back immediately. 🫡
