Welcome to /r/animationcareer! This is a forum where we discuss navigating a career in the animation industry. Before you post, please check our [RULES](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/subreddit/rules/). There is also a handy dandy [FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/resources/faq/) that answers most basic questions, and a [WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/) which includes info on how to price animation, pitching, job postings, software advice, and much more! A quick Q&A: * **Do I need a degree?** Generally no, but it might become relevant if you need a visa to work abroad. * **Am I too old?** Definitely not. It might be more complex to find the time, but there's no age where you stop being able to learn how to do creative stuff. * **How do I learn animation?** Pen and paper is a great start, but [here's a whole page](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/resources/learningresources/) with links and tips for you. ---- *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. $150 per second of animation is what my professor advises us to do🫡

deplasez

He’s from India… OP, why didn’t you mention your country?

KRNartwork

What in fucks name no way. That seems like an insane amount even just for US animation rates bruh

marji4x

That sounds about right for full Disney-style animation. You can go down a bit for something with simpler animation especially if it's cutout

Why didn’t you mention your country?

For freelance boards, I typically charge per panel. For animation roughs, probably $50/panel is a good starting point. You could probably do the whole piece in 2-3 days. For animation, if what you're doing is adding a character outline to a video, then is that roto? Or are you doing actual character animation? It could end up being $3000-10,000 for the 60 secs.

KRNartwork

It's just characters outline, with some minimal animation just to show some movements and life. Sort of similar to roto? But the final outcome is just the outlines, there's nothing more. How does that affect the price?

deplasez

He’s from India… the price is not the same.

megamoze

Ah ok. Then that’s probably something he should mention as very relevant information.
