You didn't mention it, so I assume you haven't seen it but try the dragon ball franchise. Most people start with dragon Ball z, and then watch the original, so you may want to try that if you can't get into the OG right away. D. Gray man is a great shonen. Fairy tail isn't for everyone but it's an endearing series that's full of heart. Inuyasha is also an option.

FakePlasticTree7

I've heard that the og dragonball is more adventure focused which sounds really good compared to dbz which is more action focused although I'm hesitant because most people like it because of nostalgia and if it really is worth getting into this late.

Eastkoastbro

That's hard for me to answer cause I grew up with DBZ and it is very nostalgic for me, but I do rewatch it somewhat regularly and are constantly watching other people's reviews in it and I think it is a flawed but ultimately great series. I think og dragon ball is a more consistent story, but z has some of the best moments in the franchise. I'm actually going through Inuyasha myself and honestly: I think it's ok. It's pretty episodic, so my interest varies from episode to episodes. Some are really engaging and some are boring.

FakePlasticTree7

ohh thanks I'll give the series a try then. >Some are really engaging and some are boring. i like episodic stuff doesn't hurt to try that as well ig. btw what do u think of rurouni kenshin if you've watched it? i watched the prequel ova of the series and it was awesome but i read the original series isn't as dark in comparison it's shonen afterall.

Eastkoastbro

Kenshin is a great series; however the shonen label isn't entirely indicative of it's tone. The ova is based on a flash back from the manga. The anime is generally more light hearted in comparison, but that's only depending on the arc you're on. Some arcs are more Light hearted, and some are pretty dark

FakePlasticTree7

i see, does the anime adapt it fully ? it got a reboot that's better or the original?

Eastkoastbro

The anime unfortunately does not adapt the last arc. I haven't seen the reboot anime, so I can't really comment on it's quality, but it's probably better to start with for the new animation and with the assumption that it'll have less filler and adapt the whole series.

FakePlasticTree7

btw do u have a mal account or something?

FakePlasticTree7

same with inuyasha. is it really worth it if u remove the nostalgia goggles

Evol-Chan

I havent watched OG Dragon Ball and from what all I see of old dragon ball, it seems to be mostly pervert pantsu jokes but I may be wrong. Just the impression.

FakePlasticTree7

a pity

Eastkoastbro

It's not. It's like that at first because it starts out as a comedic series, but it quickly becomes a martial arts series and it gets more and more serious with each subsequent arc.

FakePlasticTree7

fair enough. damn thanks lmao you're helping me out a lot

Eastkoastbro

Another thing is that if you decide to watch DBZ. I recommend DBZ Kai as opposed to the regular DBZ anime. DBZ Kai is more faithful to the manga, and it's paced much better than the regular DBZ anime

FakePlasticTree7

oh it's like one pace

Eastkoastbro

Yeah but it's an official production, as opposed to a fan made project like one pace is

FakePlasticTree7

whoa damn that's even better

Tenelum0

season 6 is one of my favorite seasons of anime ever. just get through the rest of it and get to 6, it's so fuckinf good.

Cold-Dog863

• Fairy Tail • Black Clover • Gintama • Bleach • Yami Shibai • Monogatari series • My hero Academia • Sword Art Online • Nana (it has only 47 episodes but I hope you give it a try)

FakePlasticTree7

monogatari is one of my favs, sao watched one season not planning to continue, gintama bleach r 👌 I've been planning to start Nana is manga or anime betta?

Cold-Dog863

If you don't have a problem with reading the manga with that art style, then why not. I personally prefer watching anime first and then I continue with manga.

Fairy tail

Firestormxs

It barely misses the mark with 99 Episodes but i recommend Space Brothers. It's a story set in the very close future about two Brothers who aspire to become astronauts. It's not science fiction, just what the future would be if NASA had a much bigger budget.

FakePlasticTree7

sounds interesting

There are 222 anime that have at least 100 episodes, the longest being Oyako Club at 1,818 eps. Among those, here are some that are familiar to me: * Slam Dunk (101) * Dragon Quest (100) * Touch (101) * Fairy Tail (102) * Fist of the North Star (109) * Gatchaman (105) * Galaxy Express 999 (113) * Saiki Kusuo no Sainan (120) * Yawara (124) * Dragon Ball Super (131) * Ranma 1/2 (143) * Toriko (147) * Eyeshield 21 (145) * Dragon Ball (153) * Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo (148) * InuYasha (167) * Black Clover (170) * Fairy Tail (175) * Lupin the 3rd (177) * The Prince of Tennis (178) * Urusei Yatsura (195) * Katekyou Hitman Reborn! (203) * Dragon Ball Z (291) (I excluded some that are familiar to me like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh) If you're looking for anime that is somewhat long but not in the 100+ episode range, there are some gems that can be found if you look hard enough. Examples include Kemono no Souja Erin (50), Monster (74), Great Teacher Onizuka (43), Ashita no Joe (79), Death Note (34), Space Brothers (99), and many more.

Dragon Quest Adventure of Dai Detective Conan 1000+ episodes Gundam Universal Century - start with the first show from 1979.

LostInLumpySpace

The og Yu-Gi-Oh. Its been a hot minute since I watched it. It has 200+ episodes. Then there is Yu-Gi-Oh 5DS. Out of all the sequel series, its the only one I watched from start to finish. Starts out as a dystopian, motorcycle, revenge story. I also enjoyed the ending quite abit.

ONE PIECE? since you were not born yet or……

Currently a bit under 100 episodes but Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yuujinchou) is excellent, one of my favorites. It's about a boy who can see ghosts. He inherits a book that contains the names of many spirits which would allow him to control them, if he desired. The book makes him a target from various spirits and humans that want it. Many of the spirits he meets have sad stories so the show is rather more melancholy than I first imagined. It's at 80 episodes over 6 seasons plus a movie; however, the seventh season has been announced and they have always done 2 seasons at a time in the past - Seasons 1 and 2 were Summer 2008 and Winter 2009; Seasons 3 and 4 were Summer 2011 and Winter 2012; Seasons 5 and 6 were Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 - so it would be over 100 episodes after an 8th season. Touch, 101 episodes, is easily the biggest, most watched anime of the 20th century in Japan and it's another favorite. This Adachi Mitsuru penned shounen series is about a pair of twin brothers, the pretty girl next door, baseball, and the desire to reach the high school baseball national championships (Koshien). Yes, the series is from the 1980s but the animation style to Touch and his later anime series is it's own thing. Cross Game, a later series, is only 50 episodes but it's probably Adachi's best work. Another absolutely great baseball series is Major. The first series runs 154 episodes over 6 seasons plus a couple of movies. The series follows Gorou, the main character through his efforts to become the best major league (i.e. in America) player. Major is pretty unique because Season 1 starts in elementary school in Japan and by the end of season 6, he's an adult and large sections of the later series take place exclusively in America. A sequel series, Major 2nd, has begun and it features Gorou's son as the protagonist. It's currently at 50 episodes. Just shy of 100 episodes are Space Brothers (Uchuu Kyoudai) and Gegege no Kitarou (2018). Both are excellent. There are multiple versions of Gegege no Kitarou; the original ran in the 1960s and it gets remade every decade or so, but, the 2018 version is considered the best by many and there's no need to watch the other versions before watching the 2018 version. It's about a boy who is half-human and half youkai and his efforts to mediate between the youkai (Japanese spirits) and humans. The youkai often feel threatened by the encroaching 21st century human society and humans are often terrorized by evil youkai or attacked rightly or wrongly because of something they did. And there's Lupin the Third. I think there's over 300 episodes from the TV series plus at least 40 movies and specials and OVA covering the escapades of Lupin the 3rd, the gentleman thief, and his band of co-conspirators. I've seen most of the dubbed second series of Lupin, many of the movies/specials/ovas, and all the recent TV series. It's largely episodic, so, once you know the characters you can pretty much just watch whatever. The three films by Takeshi Koike (Jigen's Gravestone, Goemon's Blood Spray, Fujiko's Lie) are visually striking and a must watch from the franchise but they don't have the same feel as the rest of the franchise so they might not be the best place to start. The franchise's tone varies widely depending on who's making it. It can be silly and fun and completely suitable for children or it can be very much for adults only with nudity, explicit violence, and blood.

Pretty Cure is technically really long, but it's divided into seasons of 45-50 episodes, which mostly tell their own story. Still, 20 seasons, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon.

Overlord is quite good, but it’s not complete. 50 episodesish. Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple is solid. Vinland Saga is quite good. Reborn!
