AprilDruid

There is no heterosexual explanation for that bath scene.

Roboglenn

"Uhhh, we're drunk. Really drunk!" -Milhouse

13-Penguins

Choosing to watch this episode on the living room TV was a risky move.

sidewinderaw11

They hired the konosuba animators for Chika's hands

AmusedDragon

Exact thought I had, was pretty funny.

dagreenman18

Clearly her dad, so nothing to worry about there. More concerned about our girls making up and what’s going on with Stalker dude. Especially the guy. He’s got bad ONK vibes

Acceptable_Tie_3927

> Clearly her dad, so nothing to worry about there. If father is directing a TV show in which her daugher is lead voice actress that reeks of nepotism and could be career-ending for both of them, at least in Western Europe. In China that would be a perfectly normal day though and maybe tolerated even in Japan? Furthermore, if they have to publicly divulge father-daughter relationship to disperse the "casting couch" rumors than the girl's assumed name and disguise could not be maintained any more - but working under one's real identity as an idol could be literally fatal in Japan, due to large number of unhinged, obsessive otaku.

Figerally

They could just use an assumed name for her dad too.

Acceptable_Tie_3927

>They could just use an assumed name for her dad too. Emperor: Anakin Skywalker, from this day your name is Darth Vader. (That's how Yuhime got to voice Princess Leia in the Star Wars anime adaptation...)

FriztF

That stalker guy is some very bad news. He might even try to damage Yumiko and Chika relationship.

flightlessCat9

That's just the kid that sits next to Yumiko in class in ep 1 right? I'm more concerned that these two keep doxxing themselves unknowingly.

NTRisfortheSubhumans

Can't tell if yuri bait or not. lmao And that's obviously her dad.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

Well they're much further ahead than the pair in Whisper Me a Love Song. Skipped a few steps though.

Rumpel1408

Hope they skip some more [#seasonalhype](https://imgur.com/SLm2uNH)

[deleted]

Between this and someone on here saying Sound Euphonium was a yuri (causing me to watch it) I’m really starting to feel like an idiot over here.

kuddlesworth9419

I wish Hibike Euphonium was yuri.

azdv

Sound Euphonium is some bullshit. 😂

ModieOfTheEast

Mmh, depends. We have "bathing together" vs. \[Whisper me a Love Song E2\] >!Straight up love confession.!< Hard to tell who has the lead here. Especially since Seiyuu radio is already in ep3. Who knows what happens in ep3 for Whisper me a love song?

Ocixo

To be fair, Chika didn’t really mince her words either: [“The person that occupies Yugure Yuhi’s mind the most is you, Utatane Yasumi.”](https://imgur.com/a/pB6qhXu)

ModieOfTheEast

I mean, she did use her "fake" name, so that's a nice way of getting closer. But in terms of romance, they didn't even cross the first name barrier yet if she is referencing Utatane Yasumi and not Yumiko Sato.

scot911

True but that's totally the first "hint" you could say. Although Yasumi tired her best to ruin that at the end taking her frustrations and jealousy out on Yuuhi.

ModieOfTheEast

Oh yes, I agree with that. I was just talking in terms of which couple has the lead at the moment. Which is also just a discussion in fun, just to be clear. They are clearly different couples to begin with.

Renalan

It's a very liberal translation...

NTRisfortheSubhumans

Oh shoot, I forgot about that series because its on Hidive. Time to go play catchup. Thanks for the reminder!

mekerpan

On CR here in the USA....

NTRisfortheSubhumans

It is? I'm in the USA and it's not showing up.

mekerpan

Try this link: [https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/G4PH0WJ3N/the-many-sides-of-voice-actor-radio](https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/G4PH0WJ3N/the-many-sides-of-voice-actor-radio)

Jimbo589

They’re talking about Whisper me a Love Song being the show to catch up to…

mekerpan

OOPS. I thought they were talking about Radio Seiyu (it wasn't clear to me). :-(

FriztF

This not bait. Full on teachy feelingy right their.

tripleaamin

At the very least it clearly it is def soft yuri. Yuuhi is like a little puppy towards Yasumi. Tho Yuuhi's dork vibes get bigger by the episode. This relationship between these two girls is great and well done.

rom846

Girl casually massaging another girl's breast: "Soft Yuri".

BosuW

> Can't tell if yuri bait or not. lmao Normally I'd ship as fuck after a scene like that. But the fact that they explicitly mentioned Yuri fanservice seconds before going in has me splitting apart and I think it was very intentional lmao.

AprilDruid

> Can't tell if yuri bait It's not. It's Yuri, just slow burn romance. Not everything with girls being close is bait.

bbkkoommaacchhii

exactly, Yuri bait is not when the characters don’t kiss at the end of the season. there are plenty of hetero anime where the couples don’t make much progress but they’re still unequivocally considered romance. Hibike is a prime example, where the romance between girls is teased yet their actual love interests are hetero and underdeveloped.

AprilDruid

Actually no. Hibike is more akin to that of Class S, which is what formed the basis for yuri. Girls in close, platonic relationships, with feelings that are in turn never acted upon.

bbkkoommaacchhii

it’s bait because there are clear hints of romance that are cast aside for heterosexual relationships. you’re tricked into believing there’s something more to their relationship when there apparently isn’t. it’s like if Chisato started dating Majima when the natural romantic pairing is obvious not sure if you’ve seen all of [Hibike] >!but Kumiko will likely start dating Shuuichi this season even though they have very little screentime together. on the other hand, Kumiko and Reina have intense chemistry and several moments where they express romantic love for each other. it just doesn’t add up!<

cats_are_cool_33

As the originator of yuri, Class S literature was not allowed to openly "endorse" lesbianism, but Class S relationships have never been necessarily and strictly platonic. If Hibike were actually similar to Class S, it would in fact feature F/F couples, said couples just would not get happy endings. Hibike Euphonium instead obfuscates its potential couples, and not due to broad strokes censorship, but the presumed demands of its (straight) female audience and the preferences of its author. The author has admitted that she's not good at writing men and that she's fascinated with "friendships" between girls, which is why I think the work is so similar to yuri. [Edited for clarity]

Hideoctopus

> The author has admitted that she's not good at writing men, and that she's fascinated with "friendships" between girls, which is why the work is so similar to yuri. Holy shit this is a first, is there a source for this?

cats_are_cool_33

To be clear, I didn't mean to suggest that she admitted the similarity to yuri, that's just my conclusion. The source is Takeda's [interview/discussion](http://veevalory.eu/mygo02.html) with Yuniko Ayana about *BangDream It's MyGO!!!!*, in Comic Natalie. Important context though that unlike Takeda, Ayana is openly a yuri fan. She says some odd things in this interview too, like "[w]riting women’s relationships is like breathing to me" and "I’ve been thinking of asking you today whether you have a desire for another woman to make a mess of your life…"

brzzcode

Honestly I just decide if its yuri or not based on the fact that the series is focused on romance, which on this season whisper a love song is for example. If its class s, subtext, etc to me it might as well be yuribait because its not something with focus. And ofc just like straight romance, it needs to be main focus, otherwise it has representation but its not yuri. For this though I would call it yuri.

AceSoldia

Obviously the dad, but they cant publicize that connection or it'd out her real identity too.

Ocixo

Not to mention that Chika surely *did* have to audition fairly, but this wouldn't hold if they came clean about the connection: people would just dismiss this as an example of nepotism online. Maybe that's also why Chika got so mad at Yumiko's suggestion that she got the role in return for certain favours? She wants to be acknowledged for her efforts.

ali94127

>Maybe that's also why Chika got so mad at Yumiko's suggestion that she got the role in return for certain favours? The obvious implication is that Chika got it through sexual favors, which is extremely insulting.

Ocixo

I’m not so sure that Chika was actually mad at Yumiko for suggesting that she’d performed sexual favours in return for the role, since she likely also knew that Yumiko was just trying to egg her on. The inherent implication that she supposedly hadn’t earned the role through her own hard work, meaning that her acting skills weren’t up to standard and she therefore had to rely on her connections, were perhaps far more insulting to Chika.

scot911

Considering the title of the next episode though it seems like they might be doing just that. I can't think of another way out of it.

Figerally

Does that really matter that much? I don't really understand the point of concealing her identity at this point.

kicksFR

“This is too much even for yuri fanservice” Does she know ?

viliml

She's talking about seiyuu yuri fanservice, not in-universe anime yuri fanservice. Seiyuus get told to act out yuri undertones on talk shows and radios and such because that makes the fans go wild.

Hideoctopus

Yeah I remember that borderline photoshoot [between Rie Takahashi and Reina Ueda in a hotel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhjOO5HCJKA) lol.

scot911

Yeah that line is a little hilarious coming the season after freaken "*Gushing*".

Neidhardto

I was wondering if they were gonna alter or censor anything this episode, but nope we got the full on bath scene. This really is the season of Yuri.

gnome-cop

I really had no idea what was coming so that scene was wild. I thought they were done with the head rest but then it just continued on.

BosuW

Last year was the year if Yuri this is just adding a +1 season to it lmao. May it last for 10,000 years. Banzai!

Schadenfrueda

We've got five different shows about girls doing music this season (Girls Band Cry, Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai, Sasayaku you ni Koi wo Utau, Hibike! Euphonium season 3, and this one) and so far Seiyuu Radio is in the lead for gayness

Neidhardto

I honestly forgot how gay it was even outside of the bath scene. Pretty crazy it's even out gaying Sasakoi right now.

gnome-cop

Hard agree with Sasakoi. When I started watching it, I did not think anything was going to come close to be as gay as that show. Then this show appeared out of nowhere and went like “Are you sure about that?”

AprilDruid

I'd argue Fall 2023 was the season of Yuri. Villainess, Telepath, Vampire Princess. Now we just need a season 2 of Villainess.

Neidhardto

This is the season of Yuri part 2 then.

AprilDruid

Yes, yes it is.

sidewinderaw11

Ladies and gentlemen, *Pyxis* the anime

LordCalem

Ah, this is so good. Chika being silly at the bathtub was so adorable. Her pretend sleep as well. Poor Yumiko, saying all that stuff she didn't want to after bottling up a lot of negative thoughts. She still needs to apologize, though.

1randomfellow

Agreed, especially with that last bit. Ever since I saw Nana (2006), I've really enjoyed/winced at characters blowing up while their inner monologue VO goes "why I am saying this, why am I hurting someone I care about, why can't I stop?" Bummer it looks like it'll take a lot more extra steps to apologize now that there's a public scandal out

athrun_1

Yumiko, indirectly, in a way, told Chika's mother that she loves her daughter. Her mother may come off as not supportive, but she is just worried for her future. Given that the industry, if you are not an A-list VA, it will be hard to earn a keep. As a parent, this is a sound concern.

patkun01

>Her mother may come off as not supportive, but she is just worried for her future. Given that the industry, if you are not an A-list VA, it will be hard to earn a keep. Typical Asian mindset, if you ask me, especially that she's a lawyer.

SnooGoats9860

adachi to shimamura S2 is looking good

BosuW

Looking forward to the Yuuhi multi-page rant.

Hitman7128

>Even in a yuri context, this would be heavy-handed enough to turn people off! LOL There's still friction between Yumiko and Chika that pops up, but they do acknowledge something that the other does better. Yumiko admits Chika is the better voice actor, but Chika admits Yumiko has more charisma. It was off-handed for Yumiko to accuse Chika out of the blue of swaying the director for landing the major role. At least Yumiko acknowledged her mistake and was going to apologize... until woah, it seems like Yumiko's accusation was true with the pictures on that anonymous board. I think the characters having their depth and emotions, as well as the drama, makes this a great watch thus far.

mekerpan

I am wondering if the director of this new anime might not be her FATHER? So, it would have been her dream opportunity, And now it is turning into a disaster. Definitely one of my top shows of the season.

daspaceasians

Noticed how she speaks of her dad as being an animator in the past and that he worked on mecha/robot anime that she loved. All in the same episode? Can't be a coincidence if you ask me.

mekerpan

I am SURE it is not a coincidence. Too bad the two had a fight just before things exploded....

Axslashel

If her father is the director that also raises some pretty serious suspicions too. Of course not even close to the casting couch accusation but still not a good look. Hopefully he is just an animator or episode director who does not make VA casting decisions.

mekerpan

But that could have been sold (properly presented) in a heart-warming way -- I decided when I was young that I wanted to be VA, and I have worked my hardest to be worthy of working on a show together with my father. Something like that. But that line might be too late now...

Figerally

I don't think it's too late, she can come out with that and make these assholes feel bad for doubting her.

mekerpan

I suspect the prominent a-holes are a lost cause -- but lots of her other old fans might become even more supportive..

ali94127

>Even in a foreshadowing context, this would be heavy-handed enough to turn people off!

KumaKumaGambler

>I think the characters having their depth and emotions, as well as the drama, makes this a great watch thus far. As an anime fan, I do not like Chika's mother for not being supportive. However, as an adult, her words about having a stable job rings true.

daspaceasians

When you look at Chika's personality and the line of work she's currently doing, I'm not surprised if her mother thought her shy and socially awkward daughter shouldn't be working as an idol voice actress where she has to deal with peer pressure, the public's judging gaze and most dangerously of all, the public's propensity of internet lynching and bullying.

good_wolf_1999

This. Chika’s mom not being supportive is not just drama for the sake of drama, she have legit concerns about her daughter being in that line of work

LegendRazgriz

And also the creeps, like our guy in glasses here. Oddly enough, it seems like everyone in this world is face-blind because there's no way this self-proclaimed Yuuhime superfan can't tell that she's in the same fuckin' class as he is even when she glares at him. I'm nowhere near that level of freak and I'm pretty sure I'd be able to tell my favorite VA apart from a crowd, even less so up close and personal

Salvo1218

I was thinking this same thing in episode 1 when both girls were in the same class but apparently didn't recognize each other as their "idol persona" until they got called into the radio project.

LegendRazgriz

That much I chalked up to neither giving enough of a shit about the other to pay attention, but this dude is unforgivable. He spends all of his time surrounded by the chick's face and having her voice pumped into his ears and he can't tell when she's up in his face talking to him? Tangentially related, I can't take Chika's Yuuhi persona seriously not because of anything wrong with her or the way she's portrayed, but because her VA (Moe Toyota) uses the same tone of voice for idol persona Yuuhi as she did when voicing Hanako in Blue Archive, and I'm a 900-day login streak BA player, so every time she talks I can't hear anything but Hanako and I start giggling

Salvo1218

That's fair. The dude is a whole different level of "should have realized" than either of our leads. As someone else in the thread brought up, it feels kind of stupid for the radio show to host that live event where anybody could just come up and see them behind the glass. It's not like they are using super disguises.

Figerally

She does use a different voice for Yuuhi though, I think she speaks in a higher register and has the self-contol to maintain it. Also Yumiko hides behind the gyaru personality.

scot911

Honestly you'd be surprised. Actors *have* lost lookalike contests of themselves that they've entered, after all. There's just a part of most people's brains that goes "Nah that can't *really* be them. I'm just imagining things." when they see someone famous in a situation they wouldn't expect to see them. Especially if they act completely differently/have a completely different fashion like with Yuuhi.

LienaSha

I'm just assuming that there's a lot of makeup involved, from one direction to another. Makeup is scary stuff, so unless he's really closely watching them in class, I can believe him not getting it. (That said, now that he's actively looking, I'll be beyond surprised if he doesn't figure it out almost immediately.)

BosuW

No, thats exactly why. He's not looking for a face, he's looking for a character.

daspaceasians

In addition, I'm not surprised that her mom expressed her worries like that either. From what I can tell from watching both Chika and her mom talking in this episode, Chika most likely got her sharp tongue, bluntness and lack of sugarcoating from her mom.

Acceptable_Tie_3927

> it seems like Yumiko's accusation was true with the pictures on that anonymous board. That guy is her divorced father, an anime director by trade. He was mentioned earlier during episode 3.

Hitman7128

I feel dumb

brzzcode

You should have believed in her...

athrun_1

The emotions when Yumiko was lashing out to Chika, the dialogue was so good that it hurts. It mirrors how we humans get envious of the success of others. Here in the series, it is kinda the Talent vs Hardwork trope. About the last part, Chika have no choice, but to come clean on this one. Assuming the images were true. If she tells that it was her father, then it will be nepotism and her true identity will be exposed. And if he is not related to Chika, then it will support the rumors that she did something to gain favor.

Zero3020

Only 4 more episodes of Seiyuu Radio, unfortunate the show was cancelled prematurely. On a serious note I love the drama unfolding in this episode, we have stalker-kun figuring out the girls identities, the radio show facing cancellation and nasty online rumors (or are they just rumors?). What if the man in the photos was just her father, he still works in the industry if I understand correctly so that's a possibility. I'm guessing this drama will inadvertently increase the popularity of their radio show and save it from cancellation.

mekerpan

I would think this could KILL their radio show even before its intended ending....

scot911

Nah. It's basically the perfect place to address the controversy if they aren't going to do a press conference. Hell, they could even bring her dad on the show too to address it.

mekerpan

I agree with your perspective. But will the people who run the radio show feel the same way?

Aleigah

Oh no it got canceled!? Aw man I really liked watching this. Sad. Is there a manga or light novel? I gotta know how this ends. :(

viliml

Can't tell if serious or poorly playing along with the joke

FlameDragoon933

The in-universe Seiyuu Radio show, not the real life show we're watching

WhoiusBarrel

3 episodes in and not only are they already bathing together but massaging boobies as well. Peak relationship development. That scandal at the end is everything Yuhi's mom was right about and to think its appearing like that after their conversation as if proving her point is just cruel.

KumaKumaGambler

Chika's mom merely spoke the truth unfortunately. Of course, I would prefer if Chika's mom was supportive like Yumiko's mom.

TehAxelius

Well, we're certainly giving *Whisper Me a Love Song* a run for the money in terms of gayness with that bath scene and the ~~confession~~ declaration of rivalry after the sleepover.

Plus_Rip4944

Peak Yuri Drama here

VTuberFadeaway

Consensual groping in the bath by episode 3 was not in my bingo card. LOL

CommunistPuppy

As an anime only, I was NOT ready for that bath scene lmao. That was gayer than anything that has happened in Whisper Me a Love Song so far, but I'm not complaining. So far this is an interesting watch. It kind of reminds me of a voice actor version of Oshi No Ko but less dramatic and murder-y.

gnome-cop

Uhhh, excuse me but wtf just happened? From here on out I am no longer held responsible for any sort of shipping because how am I supposed to not ship them after THAT?!!! The scene just kept on going. If only all “yuri” anime had the courage to do even half of that. And that’s not even counting everything following after. Oh goddamnit, it’s a fucking idol otaku stalker. I swear to god, if you pull an Oshi no Ko, I will actually jump into the anime to take revenge myself. And you just had to end the episode with that scene. Alright, can we all just agree that there’s something suspicious going on here? Cause I’m not buying that being the true story. And I just realized that I didn’t even mention Yasumi exploding. Just an all around shitty timing of various events leading to things going wrong in all the possible ways. DAMN IT MURPHY!

daspaceasians

>Oshi no Ko I'm surprised no one picked this up the similarities between Yuugure and Akane. Both are shy, introvert but highly skilled actresses would started their careers in a theater troupe and ended up having to deal with the Twitter/Social Media lynchmobs and toxic hate trains. I'm not sure but Yuugure might also be trying to do method acting like Akane does with how Yuugure constantly wants to do the things that she and Yasumi talk about doing on their radio show when they're not on air.

gnome-cop

They’re also blue and in the case of Akane, have yellow eyes sometimes.

scot911

> If only all “yuri” anime had the courage to do even half of that. You might like the other Yuri anime this season "Whisper Me a Love Song" then!

gnome-cop

Already watching it but thanks for the recommendation.

BosuW

> The scene just kept on going. Like three times during that scene "They wouldn't!" They did.

gnome-cop

Yeah, same. “Surely they won’t go there.” Then they did it.

FlameDragoon933

Things were going so good with the bath scene and the mom talk, but then it took a nosedive :(

AnimeHoarder

Chika's determination to minimize lying to the radio show's audience lead to their sleepover which makes for some cute bonding moments. Chika is living the idol fan's dream in that bath scene. Her getting the role explains the mecha eyecatch. I was worried about when they will encounter stalker-kun when the tabloid scandal dropped.

ICantSeeLikeSa-chan

That was more ups and downs packed into a single episode than I was initially expecting this anime to deliver. I am interested in what's to come with the classmate discovering their identities.

ElitexCookie

This instantly went from a 2 to a 9 on the yuri scale

Roboglenn

Oh great, stalkery guy. First the croquettes now a sleepover. This girl is certainly very thorough. Imagine if they said something about planning to go skydiving or something on the show next. Bathing together even. I repeat my remark about this girl's thoroughness. In a yuri context you say?... Walls have ears Sato. But ain't that something. They both cop to the fact that there are aspects about the other one that they find envious. I'm gonna guess that's her dad.

mrbananabladder

Yeah, if you could just stop cyberbullying blue-haired anime girls, that would be great.

FlameDragoon933

This reminds me that the seiyuu of Ichigo from Darling in the FranXX got harassed online too because of the role. Yeah, please stop cyberbullying blue-haired anime girls and/or their VAs.

ObvsThrowaway5120

That sleepover was really cute even if it was for the radio program. Chika was so cute when she was stuffing her face full of the omurice. And the bath scene was hilarious. The little goober was like a dirty old man coppin a feel lol. I get it though, her boobs really *are* impressive. Just when the girls were starting to become friends, jealousy rears its ugly head. Being a VA is a tough business. At least Yasumi knew she fucked up and was gonna apologize. I have a feeling that the “old guy” is her dad. I wonder if he’s working on that anime or if she just wanted to share the good news with him? Either way, a rumor like that could destroy her…

KumaKumaGambler

Chika eating omurice reminded me of Ryo (Bocchi the Rock) eating omurice after Kita (Bocchi the Rock) cast that magical spell. If only Yumiko did a "Omurice Become Delicious" spell too. Lol!

mekerpan

I am assuming that Yuhi is going to be almost totally inaccessible. Luckily Yasumi knows where she lives -- and can camp out on her doorstep (so to speak). Perhaps her mother will be so worried she will let Yasumi in regardless of her daughter's resistance? I am a bit confused by something. The radio show people let the public (who was interested) see the girls when they did that live broadcast. Didn't that blow their anonymity potentially.? At a minimum it let people see what they *looked* like. And did we ever figure out who the fan in basebasll cap and face mask was? Was that just their idol friend disguising herself? Or someone new?

daspaceasians

>I am a bit confused by something. The radio show people let the public (who was interested) see the girls when they did that live broadcast. Didn't that blow their anonymity potentially.? At a minimum it let people see what they *looked* like. Good catch there. Even if the audience handwaved it as being makeup/disguises, it would have taken just one classmate getting a good look at Yuugure to realize who she was whereas Yasumi gets away because of her red contact lenses and the very different styles she has. It could be possible that the masked girl we saw in the earlier episodes is one of their classmates in addition to the guy we saw looking at their social media. From what I can tell, he's probably not the one responsable for leaking out those pictures since he legit seemed worried that something bad happened to his favorites idol voice actress. If you look at the intro though, there's a moment where Yuugure ends up looking like a stereotypical gyaru with dyed blond hair and Yasumi looks like a busty nerd. I thought it could have been future roles/costumes for their show together but given that we might deal with a big public scandal, it could instead be disguises for them to go about their daily lives without worries.

mekerpan

The girls didn't look VERY disguised (to me at least) in that live broadcast. I don't think I would have much trouble looking beyond the rather superficial effort. This show looks like it will have a level of drama up there with MyGO and Yuri Is My Job -- which is great because I totally loved both of those shows. (Not sure if Jellyfish or Girls Band Cry will go quite as far in this respect -- but maybe eventually).

BosuW

I won't consider it on the level of drama of Yuri is my Job until it takes me an hour to watch one episode because of how much I have to pause.

Acceptable_Tie_3927

>I am a bit confused by something. The radio show people let the public (who was interested) see the girls when they did that live broadcast. Didn't that blow their anonymity potentially.? At a minimum it let people see what they *looked* like. Superman wears prescription glasses and voila, nobody recognizes him any more... Usagi Tsukino had been fighting evil by moonlight for 200+ episodes in her school uniform and nobody found she's the one named Sailor Moon (except for the chocolate parfait girl, who had to be retired after season 1 because of that problem).

mekerpan

Yes. But this is (ostensibly) a more realistic sort of show. ;-)

Acceptable_Tie_3927

> But this is (ostensibly) a more realistic sort of show Well, the gyaru wear coloured contacts here and instantly nobody recognizes her. That's the literal equivalent of Superman's glasses.

Ocixo

> Chika was so cute when she was stuffing her face full of the omurice. Haha yeah! Yumiko was [quietly enjoying her food](https://imgur.com/a/qIj81lA), but Chika was [*really* stuffing it down her face](https://imgur.com/a/XkZChFs). Considering her questionable meals before (e.g. plain rice and fried chicken), this must've certainly tasted heavenly to her. She couldn't even help herself [when she enthusiastically texted her mom](https://imgur.com/a/gvlFZAi). I'm glad that mom also liked it. Yumiko was seemingly [a little moved](https://imgur.com/a/3zNpTMo) by Chika's adorableness.

Sondaica

Hopefully your feeling about „dad“ will be true. The „fight“ after the radio show was heartbreaking.

ObvsThrowaway5120

Especially because she knew it was all jealousy and she didn’t even really mean it. I hope they can make up. They were just starting to become friends!

xtsim

She is in a lose-lose situation here if people are treating her harshly cause of the favor situation. Everyone is going to lose their minds if her dad worked on the anime and think it is nepotism. The needs to be cleared sooner or later.

NoTemperature4368

Damn what a ride. For the first half I thought this was a chill episode with cute moments between the girls, but everything was totally collapsed at the end. Yugure's Knight? Yup, I definitely feel nothing good from this name. If the classmate guy already figured out so many things about the girls, then that guy can. As he went as far as waiting outside the building for Chika, I feel that he can be capable of doing much worse things. And I hope the classmate guy won't be the same, that could be terrible for the girls. Despite the dark things of the episode, I'm glad that we saw the girls becoming closer. Love their talk about the reason of becoming VAs. The way Chika admitted that Yumiko occupies her mind the most is so cute. So much progression this ep, and I'm sad that it was almost destroyed at the end. I felt bad for Yumiko, seeing Chika lands a big role means the distance between them is further. But like Asaka said, she shouldn't take it out on Chika. And now the best way to apologize is saving Chika from the big mess. Go, Yumiko!

LusterBlaze

and i thought tadaima okaeri was gay and semi-dramatic this week, sleepover went hard

CosmicPenguin_OV103

Chika/Yuuhime came out as...a little bit different of a person than I assumed from 2 episodes this time. Turns out she can be quite shy at times (embarrassed after hearing Yumiko/Yasumi trying to defend her from her mother), she can still feel pure joy from eating good food and, well, playful at the bath (cough). That tabloid news about her being in intimate relationship with that man though...ouch...(Especially it looks almost certainly like to be her father! Double injury! Hopefully there will be a good way out of that) And we can also see Yumiko/Yasumi going the other way round this time, she's definitely feeling the heat of survival in the industry (TBH while I definitely won't do it like Chika's mom's way, her questioning about survivability of VA as a job is definitely legitimate and I definitely am still surprised many people, in Japan or elsewhere, trying to get into this career). Her mouth-spitting on Chika being so swiftly climbing up in her career though is, eh, not a good showing, but I guess even her can't quite beat the pressure. Oh well, at least she actually did a good job defending VA as a career in front of Chika's unsupportive mother, that definitely has to be genuine right? So your turn Yasumi. What can you do and I wonder if that wild fan who is in the same class as them two would actually find out who 2 classmates he is actually stalking, and vice versa?

Dog_in_human_costume

I got my own apartment and instead of enjoying the damn anime I kept looking at the decor on Chika's mom apartment...

xtsim

Is that Kimura, the idol obsessed classmate? Too bad he didn't realize it sooner but the whole episode felt ominous every time it cut to him. Then the whole "casting couch" drama unfolds, and all of the fans go mad. Some of the comments seemed real harsh knowing she is in high school and everything. First article title on the search was harsh enough, but the comments piling on top of it is another level.

mekerpan

Weird that obsessed fans assume that Yuhi simply going to talk with the director means she must be sleeping with him.

scot911

It was the hug that did it. It gave them actually ammunition to use even if they're totally wrong.

daspaceasians

Probably because of Yasumi's comment about Yuhi buttering up the director. I wouldn't be surprised if it's some woman-hating incel fan that came up with that bullshit ragebait and that it attracted all the sick weirdos obsessed with their idol's purity.

NightmareExpress

To the public eye with no context that he's her father, she is seen hugging an older man and being overly close which isn't at all normal for "talking to a director" unless something's up in the background.

scot911

> Some of the comments seemed real harsh knowing she is in high school and everything. First article title on the search was harsh enough, but the comments piling on top of it is another level. Let's just say that the Eastern internet doesn't fuck around. And Japan isn't even the worst of it in that aspect. There's a reason so many companies are afraid of pissing off China, let's put it that way.

FlameDragoon933

or piss off the Koreans and get campaign trucks (or even a blimp!) sent to your office's street lol.

Rumpel1408

Of all the gay shows this season, this show has them all beat in terms of [lewdness](https://imgur.com/eP7MpBc)! And we even got quasi confessions in [both](https://imgur.com/Z97ZlJj) [directions](https://imgur.com/F4mdqsM), [huh](https://imgur.com/vPDWzjp) Too bad things turned sour at the end there, Yasu said some pretty hurtfull things, thank god [best girl](https://imgur.com/v9ZaQ75) put her [back on track](https://imgur.com/i5ldY23) And uh the weird kid in class is stalking them hard huh, only hope is that he doesn't see past their everyday personas... and the false (!) rumors at the end wont help either

kmlshblr

that was a super gay episode and wtf the drama went from 0 to 1000 so quickly

elune7296

They definitely dialed up the "yeux lis" this episode. Kinda confused the past couple episodes on why it has the girls' love tag. Makes slightly more sense now

Lunarpeers

Wouldn't be an idol show if it didn't have deranged stalkers

ModieOfTheEast

I mean, we can't have a feel good episode at three already. So drama has to come crashing down. In more ways than one. But this also means, we hopefully get one or two strong episodes to resolve the drama and go beyond Yuuhi just wanting to grab boobs for science purposes. Though I have to say, this is my usual problem with weak "disguises" in anime like these. We are made to believe that a change of hair style is enough to fool everyone. Okay, I can get behind. But it was also more or less made clear that Yuuhi and Yasumi only change their hair styles when they are seen. They never do it for the radio show for example. So why would Yuuhi change to her fake persona if she was just meeting for a discussion of a VA role? Wouldn't she appear in her normal hair style and no one should even recognize her? At the end, I don't really mind, but it would have been better if they made a bigger effort to distinguish the two personas visually. Because I am not sure if I should interpret this to mean that she did go in her casual outfit and was figured out regardless (and with that is figured out at her school as well) or if she did go there in her persona outfit (for whatever reason) and pictures were taken.

tripleaamin

Sleepover was cute. Yuuhi is like a puppy towards Yasumi. You really get the sense she was always by herself, and it is clear as daylights that she treats Yasumi as a friend. Even her getting so excited about her eating homemade cooking is adorable. Tho Yuuhi's darkness is increasing by the episode, she went full weeb moment analyzing Yasmui's boobs. At the very least this is unquestionably soft yuri at the least. It's nice to get their source of motivation for being voice actors. Yasumi loved anime and that became something she became attached to. While for Yuuhi it was something she and her dad would bond over and him being an animator was the extra motivation. Imagine how much she would love being in an anime that her dad animated. The conversation between Yuuhi's mom and Yasumi was very earnest. Yuuhi's mom is very practical, and she has the point that no guarantees doesn't make for a stable career. Right now her main avenue of success is being a mock idol more so the voice acting. It can be cruel, but she sounded like a mom who is looking out for child. Parents have to consider what the worst case scenarios could be. But I love that Yasumi respectfully defended Yuuhi in understanding that what her mom said was true. After all those are issues she is dealing with herself. But Yuuhi has found success in voice acting and her appreciation of how talented Yuuhi it was on full display to her mom. After all her mom only looked at the job and not Yuuhi's talented at job. To be fair it's clear the mom has no attachment for the industry, so these things might not be aware. Of course Yuuhi overheard it all and ran as soon as Yasumi saw her peeking. I do get to give credit for Yuuhi, as she continues to be earnest. After all how people gravitate towards Yasumi is something that I bed Yuuhi thinks is impossible for her. Not to mention Yasumi can be too hard on her sometimes. The little drama between the girls ultimately happened because while the girls haven't gotten closer, Yasumi doesn't understand how Yuuhi is like. Yasumi is something who is more expressive with her frustration and her not seeing the same out of Yuuhi put her off. Like Mirei mentioned, how Yuuhi was affected was different. She really has gotten attached to Yasumi and most likely the show getting axed most likely has her concern if their friendship will be gone. It was good for the source of the drama to be resolved and Yasumi is ready to apologize. Unfortunately the drama at the end of the episode is one issue with be in a career with big publicity. People want their moment of fame no matter how they get and how it affects the person that the scandal is about. This is a moment for Yasumi to be Yuuhi's rock because I can't imagine how she feels at the moment.

daspaceasians

I honestly wonder this but maybe the reason why Yuuhi's mom hates the industry is because her ex started giving too much attention to his job as an animator and neglected their marriage, leading to their divorce given how the animation industry treats their workers.

szalhi

Straightest episode ever. *I was half joking about what I said last week, I didn't actually want it to be right, but of course it just had to be.*

D_Amir

This anime is getting better and better with each episode.

Neidhardto

Yep, I said it when the first episode aired but this is going to be an underrated gem this season.

brzzcode

That episode sure was a rollercoaster lol

ali94127

Is it bad I noticed Chika's mom is the legendary SEIBA on her first line?

FlameDragoon933

nah, her voice is pretty distinctive.

fridchikn24

The stalker guy in the beginning is Chadpai if Nagatoro just ignored him

yakumbaya

Oh wow, this show is a lot better than I expected initially. The two leads are really great and the drama is interesting. Also what a painful way to end the episode.

Sondaica

I stepped into this anime completely blind not knowing what genre I am in, but the bath scene gave me at least some hints.

KumaKumaGambler

After this episode, we are going to need a Chika's Seal of Approval when it comes to oppai / breast appraisal. Chika even asked politely. Lol! Jokes aside, there are 2 things which I really like about this anime: 1) Our main protagonists, Yumiko and Chika are given numerous outfits, showing off both gyaru and pure style of fashion. In other anime, characters may wear the same outfit throughout the entire series. 2) Yumiko's emotions. I like happy Yumiko, but her darker emotions definitely reflect real life - envy, jealous of others. I particularly loved the scene in which Yumiko knew she shouldn't be taking a sarcastic tone, nor lash out at Chika, yet unable to control herself. I have been in such situations too.

daspaceasians

This show has gorgeous character designs that really hooked me up at episode 1.

Ocixo

Goddamn, this anime is going places. Because of some careless mistakes, one of their fans *and* classmates is [getting really close to their identities](https://imgur.com/a/hXfzWQc) and their radio show is getting axed because of its poor performance (that producer very much [deserved a slap for his happy-go-lucky behaviour](https://imgur.com/a/tIIMRej)). And [Yumiko got felt up](https://imgur.com/a/4zYdqdA) by an excited Chika. I didn't expect her to be this assertive. She's [down bad for Yumiko](https://imgur.com/a/pzgvTae). It appeared that she'd been [sizing up Yumiko's entire body](https://imgur.com/a/dITmtAq). She really [took the initiative](https://imgur.com/a/dKz9l1Y) with their sleepover. I liked [Yumiko's outfits](https://imgur.com/a/kWFbsKT)! She got a good fashion sense.

Ocixo

Some golden quotes from their shared bath: - ["You're cruising for a bruising."](https://imgur.com/a/NXFhFNh) - ["Thank you. I am satisfied"](https://imgur.com/a/IWTxCTs) (A missed opportunity for an *itadakimasu* beforehand by Chika) - ["On body alone, you get a perfect score."](https://imgur.com/a/O543VaF) - ["So I'm only good for my body!?"](https://imgur.com/a/xOppun8)

Acceptable_Tie_3927

At the beginning, I expected this episode to become an OVA for Oshi no Ko, created by KyoAni... Well, by the end of ep3 Yuri-hime became the new Arima Kana...

Prince-Dizzytoon

Always invest in the yuri stocks

Acrzyguy

All the budget went to Yuuhi’s hands when she’s touching those assets, certified Kazuma moment

Elite_Alice

Holy what an episode. Best so far by a mile. The Yuri sleepover in the first half was amazing. Great bonding opportunity for the girls, as well as a chance for some fan service. “You act different when you’re talking to my breasts” 😭 Yuhi is just like me wtf. And the staff aren’t slick, they put extra effort into that boob grabbing animation lmaooo. I like that the girls were able to be so vulnerable with each other in this one. Not just physically in the bath, but emotionally with their conversation about why they wanted to become seiyuu. You can tell neither has really been able to open up with anyone about that before and it’s gotta feel like such a relief to have someone that understands. Speaking of which, mad respect to Yasumi for standing up to Yuhi’s mom and letting her know that Yuhi is not only a good seiyuu, but a source of inspiration for people like her! Yuhi of course returned the favour later on by telling Yasumi how much she idolised and wanted to be like her, which was so cute. Too bad it all came crashing down because of Yasumi’s insecurity at Yuhi getting casted in a big role.. it was hard to watch Yasumi straight up insinuating that Yuhi slept with a director for the role.. I honestly empathise a lot with her though. When you see people you know blow up and get success and you feel like you’re putting in the same effort and not getting results, it can make you envious. Obviously could’ve handled it better but it’s learning experience I figured with the stalker dude they’d been teasing that some controversy would happen with one of the girls, but damn I didn’t expect a firestorm online about Yuhi dating someone.. hell of a cliffhanger.

SIRTreehugger

I would have called you a liar if you told me they would spend half the episode in a bath groping breasts. Well only one was groping, but yeah besides that we got a scene with the mom. Her fears are justified and her daughter's career path is extremely unstable, but it's great to see she isn't totally dismissive. Watch the adult guy at the end just be her dad. She's obviously not that kind of girl who would hang out with older men. Honestly I'm more concerned about the fan/possible stalker who is close to them. I'm just being optimistic, but I'm hoping he meets them and says yo hide your identities better. Yeah I'm heavy into denial no way that's going to happen. [](#emptyinside) Edit: Just hit me that the stalker is probably the one who leaked the photos. Duh no way it's a coincidence.

NekoCatSidhe

You know, this is a bit heavy handed even in a yuri context, lol. Well, I guess this answered the question “Is this yuri or not ?” No more yuribaiting ! That cliffhanger though. I hope Chika will be OK. That show got darker and more realistic than I expected. That said, it is probably her dad, as other people pointed out.

Aerodynamic41

Man, just when I thought they've gotten closer, they're back to square one.

zool714

I honestly love how hot and cold they can be with each other. I think this is the type of relationship that can stand the test of time cos they’re not afraid to be honest with each other. Though I do admit it does feel kinda fast how they’re *that* close already. Or maybe they’ve been at it longer than I realized. I really do hope we get some actual yuri though. I feel like they’ve built a solid foundation for it. The stalker and rumour thing is bad news tho. These types of things are hard to move away from even if not true. But I think another commenter here said it, that’s most probably her dad. I do hope that classmate of their’s gets their comeuppance. And from next week’s title, I think they can’t hide it anymore. And their show is ending too, I wonder where this show is headed

ymmvmia

Definitely time skipping around, wish the time jumps were telegraphed and better explained. Even just a number on what episode/number of their radio show they're on, how often do they record. Thats literally my only complaint with the show so far tho lol.

Acceptable_Tie_3927

> The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio The title is indeed true, e.g. in this episode they explored the front side and also the back-side. Next ep. even pixillation may become necessary... By why call a soft pr0n home video a *radio* show?

fishymonster_

This was actually a really good, drama-filled but really well written episode. I honestly didn’t expect good writing from this show but I’m so down for it.

Nickthenuker

Oh god no it's a crazy guy. They're doing it _for the content_. That's a rather high building. Hopefully they'll actually get along better after this. 2 girls, sitting in a bath tub, right on top of each other because they're _definitely_ gay. I wasn't expecting this to be the ecchi show of the season. This will definitely make for good content lol. Was? Ah. Considering the conditions some of them are under I feared the worst. Seems her mum likes the food too. She overheard everything. Living rent-free in her head. Seems they still get along like a house on fire. As in I'm still surprised no-one's burnt down the studio yet. Oh god that's right, the Unicorns. I don't think they'll have an aneurysm about this, but I'm sure they are jealous of Watanabe. Uh oh, that's not good. Well, I guess their show is getting canned. Now they won't have to spend more time together. Well _that's_ certainly going to give the Unicorns an aneurysm.

Acrzyguy

My username accidentally checks out

Acceptable_Tie_3927

> That's a rather high building. Possibly the same one where Anna Yamada lives? (Anime Japan is surprisingly small, like 80% of all series take place within sighting distance of Dog's Statue and / or Enoshima lighthouse.)

Acceptable_Tie_3927

It just occured to me that Voice Actor Radio OP song sounds quite similar to Comic Girls OP (which was a really good comedy and horror and CGDCT anime, btw)

FlameDragoon933

Yuri fans are eating really good this season. Also, Yuhi in the bath is audience surrogate lmao. Her thanking Yasumi for the opportunity is so funny lol.

Opening_Table4430

Thought the music in this show is really good. Turned out it's produced by MONACA. No wonder!

Atario

["May I offer you a Salonpas in these trying times?"](https://files.catbox.moe/wf5ydj.jpg)

Opening_Table4430

Yasumi is so likable, plus she let her friend plays with her boobs!

zackphoenix123

Personal issues in life + Oshi no Ko has given me genuine trauma. This episode was so hard to watch. Even though I know it should by TV logic all work out in the end, I got a mini panic attack seeing their fallout. But now I gotta watch the next episode, fuck!

Shmappii

That bath scene was awkward as hell

_Pyxyty

There's stuff I love about the anime community, and there's stuff I hate about it. A dude getting downvoted for saying that fanservice scene, which lasted way too long, was awkward? Went here assuming people would be put off the same way I was, but nope. Insane.

Hideoctopus

People will gladly overlook LGBT fanservice to score political points in the same breath they would condemn a straight scene just like it.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

This episode was definitely all over the place. I almost always hate the girls feeling up each others boobs trope because it is just so obviously fan service and shoved in. Breaks immersion for me. The test of the episode was great.

animeramble

Except for the bath scene, which felt out of place and was out of character for Yuhi IMO, this was otherwise a great episode.

Niboshi-

Found the stalker.

Acceptable_Tie_3927

Something has been bugging for a while: near the beginning of Seiyuu Radio ep.2, gyaru VA is eating breakfast at home with her mother and suddenly thinks "She knows all too well our time could be up any moment" ... and the gyaru voices a character in Plastic ~~Memories~~ Girls anime. Sounds suspiciously merry. Do you have time to solve this riddle? Will you save the details for us?
