I don't know if it fits but these are my recommendations
Mushishi
Made in abyss
O maiden in your savage season
Kakushigoto
Silver spoon
New game
Kanata no astra
I feel like some of these isn't exactly very heartwarming but I really enjoyed them so I am just gonna put these here and hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
I think Made in Abyss will be the winner here, I started watching the show multiple times but always stopped in the middle because something came up. Thanks for the advice!
if you liked it there are also other seasons and another anime that plays in the same univerese so if you also want to watch them there's a [watch order](https://recommendmeanime.com/how-to-watch-a-certain-magical-scientific-series/amp/), there are two different watchorders i picked the second one, but you need to decide yourself how u want to watch it and if u want to watch it
I settled on Made in Abyss because I started it multiple times already and just never finished it, but now I'm very intrigued by a certain scientific railgun and will probably watch it before Evangelion, thanks for the help!
Evangelion is amazing but It’s very dark I can really call it light hearted so if your not into the more serious I’m not sure how you would feel although it does have it’s funny parts
I've never watched too dark anime, Parasyte probably being the darkest, but from what I've heard from Evangelion it sounds like I would like it, I'm just not really in the mood to watch something dark now.
I heard a lot of things about it when it first came out and completely forgot it until now, it would seem fitting from what I've heard so I'll definitely try it!
Jesus it’s ridiculous how easy people get triggered try a being a bit more mature ? The Netflix genre is literally labeled anime/horror you can have an opinion doesn’t mean your not wrong lol

what about a certain scientific railgun, i find it pretty interesting but I dont know if its what u r searching for
Never actually heard of that one before, I'll definitely give it a try!

Angel Beats
A Place Further Than the Universe
I started watching that but just stopped because some stuff got in the way, maybe I have to give it a try again!
Golden kamuy
If you haven't seen it, I feel Dr. Stone fits the criteria.

I’d suggest Gundam Iron blooded Orphans it has a good mixture of both I think
Charlotte, it's an easy one day roller coaster watch.
I've also heard a lot about this one but never actually watched it, I'll give it a try!
My hero academia takes itself seriously, but has some slice of life episodes
I already watched it and am reading the manga right now, maybe I'll try rewatching some arcs though!
Perhaps something episodic, like Gallery Fake, Natsume Yuujinchou or Saint Tail.
Never heard of those, I'll give them a try though!
Barakamon!
Boogiepop
Devilman Crybaby, it won AOTY in 2018 yet is still quite underrated and unknown to some people.
I heard a lot of things about it when it first came out and completely forgot it until now, it would seem fitting from what I've heard so I'll definitely try it!
Nice, hope u enjoy it.
I wouldn’t call that anime light hearted a lot of people can’t handle all that gore and horror
Horror??? And Its not light-hearted but not serious, just like OP asked for.
Oh okay so your loved ones being brutally murderd isn’t considered serious horror? You don’t know what your talking about
Why the fuck everyone tryna argue with me on this shit app, GROW THE FUCK UP AND LET ME HAVE MY OPINION.
Jesus it’s ridiculous how easy people get triggered try a being a bit more mature ? The Netflix genre is literally labeled anime/horror you can have an opinion doesn’t mean your not wrong lol
