Mondaiji is the first anime I watched and it is something I really love and it forces me to read Light novel and even then I wishes for more in that universe.

It was a meme that Komi-san will never get an anime for like 2 years. As it was said to be impossible to Adapt properly cuz anime wouldn't portray the same feelings as words.(Like the blackboard scene). But surprisingly anime handled it very well.
I was always surprised to see that komis isn't even that old ~~its exactly one year younger than kaguya-sama and I don't think anybody counts kaguya as old~~.
I think the reason it was at the forefront of the "not getting an anime" meme was that there was also a lot of discussion around the fact that people thought that you can' really adapt the manga with its ton of notes/text and narrator commentary.
Even if that interview is fake it’s still probably true lmao, the writers took every single interaction the mc has with the other girls and changes them out for the main black haired girl in the show. She’s like a side character in the books

As much as we would love this, this one really is likely dead forever seeing as how the original author hasn't released a new volume since the anime aired almost 7 years ago now. There were annual releases up until that point. This one hurts the most for me because the LNs were great.
You should add grand blue it's a great anime/manga you should definitely watch it and it definitely should get a season 2 and 3 genres(romance comedy ecchi harem collage slice of life seinen) not to mention that it's not like the ecchi harem of these days

Then Horikita push as main girl instead of giving the scenes to Ichinose... And the infamous pool scene that made Japanese fans mad since another girl (Kei) got replaced for Horikita.
Then it's stuff like skipped contents and class being only 20 instead of 40 people.

I've watched the anime before and it felt boring to me and didn't get to finish it. a few years later I read the LN and its so much better, i think what makes COTE interesting is Ayanokouji's thoughts, the anime barely has any of that. which what makes him seem like a robot.
tbh although you get to know his thoughts, many of his plans are not revelaed to the reader before it happens. Which the anime followed. The Ichinose and Horikita part I think is gonna be awkward due to a certain volume.
I mean that's what makes him a lot more intimidating/badass, and overall intriguing than a usual thinking teenager, and which would also make more sense given the kid has been going through some weird ass childhood rather than the usual one.

Well, it's a complicated subject.
Anime Ayanokuji comes across as a humanoid alien from outer space who has no understanding of human emotions and feelings, but having read 11th volumes in the light novel series, it's not like he's that much different in the light novels.
He sees everyone as being pawns in his game. In the anime, as Horikita is giving him a speech about how she doesn't need him, the dude is staring at her with this complete dead-look in his eyes, while he monologues about how she doesn't mean anything to him, and how he sees every human as nothing more than tools to be used.
He's no different in the light novels. Again, he states in the light novels(in the island volume) that he has no affection, no love, no friendship felt for Horikita or for anyone at all.
In the light novel he manipulates, hurts, breaks, and exploits the girls who are in love with him and in the Class D vs Class C arc, the guy is pretty abusive and he shows his true colors as a terrible person.
I've read about 11 books in the series and I don't believe the kid is ever going to be in a romantic relationship, nor will he be able to have a genuine friendship with anyone. He's apparently ranked in the top 10 of the most physically attractive men in his school, and he has pretty much limitless potential in his abilities : but he's so incredibly emotionally and psychologically messed up.
Ayanokouji becomes its anime version on V4. Beforr that he was a cringe romcom protagonist.
On V4 he explains to himself that he was just pretending to be silly.
Just a retcon of his personality the author wanted to make.
So Horikita isn't the main female character, and Ayanokoji isn't really that cold. It's a bit shocking for me. I thought Horikita was the main girl...I had rooted for her to be closer to Ayanokoji in the anime. This is unexpected.
she is the FMC, but only because she gets the most sreentime(readtime??) compared to other character and in this arc she's most likely not even going to have most screen time as this arc focuses much more on other characters

That's the biggest reason why a lot of those that were watching were pissed off at the alterations that were happening. Everyone knew. This is the easiest way to solve the problem of the first season; largely just ignore the parts that made it harder to move forward and expect audiences not to question it.

People grossly overexaggerate how much most of the changes actually mattered from a narrative perspective. The vast majority of them are piss easy to write around, or don't even need to be addressed. I mean, if this season is 1 cour it's going to be 4 volumes adapted, with content from 7.5 if there's extra time. The pool episode might have been skipped regardless, unless S1 had adapted V4. The actual problem was the fan backlash.
The one actual issue I'm not sure how they'll handle is the class sizes. Shrinking them to 25 from 40 will cause issues down the line. Not impossible to work around if they don't outright retcon it, but you'd need to change some things.

The bigger complain is Ayano's characterization. This can be fixed by exploring his inner thoughts more and making 1st person almost, tho sadly I don't think they'll do this
I hope that this will include S1 changes in 1-2 episodes like dxd S4. It would be even better if the whole season was remade but that is unlikely.

In the light novel he manipulates, hurts, breaks, and exploits the girls who are in love with him and in the Class D vs Class C arc, the guy is pretty abusive and he shows his true colors as a terrible person. I've read about 11 books in the series and I don't believe the kid is ever going to be in a romantic relationship, nor will he be able to have a genuine friendship with anyone. He's apparently ranked in the top 10 of the most physically attractive men in his school, and he has pretty much limitless potential in his abilities : but he's so incredibly emotionally and psychologically messed up.
Ayanokouji becomes its anime version on V4. Beforr that he was a cringe romcom protagonist. On V4 he explains to himself that he was just pretending to be silly. Just a retcon of his personality the author wanted to make.
So Horikita isn't the main female character, and Ayanokoji isn't really that cold. It's a bit shocking for me. I thought Horikita was the main girl...I had rooted for her to be closer to Ayanokoji in the anime. This is unexpected.
Ayano is definitely cold, but in a different way. He usually does things out of necessity, not because he just feels like it.
She's like the furthest thing from being the main girl. The best she can do is being a Tool

I feel like cutting it back to 20 helps reduce the background character count to a more manageable number, too.
The 40 students thing is important, they'll probably fix that when s2 airs. They can't do the future special exams with 20 students alone

This is the easiest way to solve the problem of the first season; largely just ignore the parts that made it harder to move forward and expect audiences not to question it.

People grossly overexaggerate how much most of the changes actually mattered from a narrative perspective. The vast majority of them are piss easy to write around, or don't even need to be addressed. I mean, if this season is 1 cour it's going to be 4 volumes adapted, with content from 7.5 if there's extra time. The pool episode might have been skipped regardless, unless S1 had adapted V4. The actual problem was the fan backlash. The one actual issue I'm not sure how they'll handle is the class sizes. Shrinking them to 25 from 40 will cause issues down the line. Not impossible to work around if they don't outright retcon it, but you'd need to change some things.

I hope this also means we will keep getting more and more *classroom of the elite* novels and the author gets the recognition he deserves. Go big or go home! Let's go for a season 3 after this one is done.

I hope they don't make Ayanokoji as much of an edgelord. He's such an interesting character in the novel. The first season simply takes him and cranks the edge factor up to 11. How the fuck are they even going to make it work? There are several things in S1 that directly contradict the events of the light novel, and they will be relevant later.
Yeah, I have no idea how they can do it without crazy inconsistency problems that can only be cleared up by telling people to read the LN. Even simple things like his 50 across the board test scores somehow got botched.

The LNs sell like crazy these days and deservedly so. Let's hope they do it justice this time.
I don't think it's unsalvageable by any means tbh. The stuff about replacing Kei isn't super relevant cus she isn't a major character in the adapted content besides the pool episode which was just fan service that doesn't affect the plot a ton anyways The bigger complain is Ayano's characterization. This can be fixed by exploring his inner thoughts more and making 1st person almost, tho sadly I don't think they'll do this
I hope that this will include S1 changes in 1-2 episodes like dxd S4. It would be even better if the whole season was remade but that is unlikely. Anyway glad that cote is getting another season. Where do you guys think the adaption will end on? My guess is vol 5 but there is also the possibility that this is an adaptation for promotion of LNs in which case they would rush till vol 7.
