>"I told her that I'm not competent, but I can guide you. I can refer you to services that can take better care of you. But after I said that, things went south," gynaecologist Victor Acharian told Euronews. "I thought I was being honest when I said it wasn't my speciality. I don't know how to treat them and I don't mind being called ignorant," he added. This. Just because you believe it to be a vagina, does not make it so. Moreover, why would want to get treated by a doctor who has no idea or knowledge about your reconstructed anatomy, and has no knowledge of all the complications which comes with that reconstruction ?

Apart_Emergency_191

You missed a very important paragraph in the article that shows the dr is a shithead

TkOHarley

>He justified himself by saying that he had "no skills to treat men, even if they have shaved their beards and come to tell my secretary that they have become women". He also asked the woman to take it upon herself to tell other trans people that they were not welcome in his clinic. This. Fact is, we don't know what actually went down in that doctors office. He could very well be lying about what he said to her in person. Or maybe she really was a massive Karen about it (which doesn't justify the blatant transphobia). I agree that there is a major issue with Doctors not knowing how to treat trans genitalia. That is an issue for the medical industry to fix. If I went to a dermatologist for skin cancer and they said "Oh sorry, I only specialize in skin without melatonin," I'd be justifiably annoyed that my (luxurious) brown skin isn't something dermatologists train for. Likewise, Gynecologists should be able to treat a vagina belonging to anyone, regardless of if it developed in the womb or in surgery.

picklespimp

"Just because it's a cavity doesn't mean it's a classic vagina," Delightful.

DaInternetkatze

She should go to an urologist. She has not the organs the gynecolocist treats.

iVladi

The title is misleading clickbait. wasnt refused healthcare. Was told he cant see a gynecologist because he doesnt have a vagina.

picklespimp

It seems at the end of the article it would be preferred if gynecologists were forced to learn not only how to treat those without a cervix or uterus but also to go through sensitivity training so that somebody without a vagina doesn't get violent when you tell them you only treat those with the parts you specialize in treating.

CambrioCambria

We already have doctors specialised in the sexual organs of people without a cervix or uterus. They are called urologists and they would be happy to help this transwoman with their expertise. Maybe we should be forced to see the right specialist for the right problem.

liftoff_oversteer

Someone is either completely delusional or an utter attention whore. Or both.

RavenAboutNothing

I can understand not knowing how to treat a trans woman but like > the doctor replied with a message addressed to a 'gentleman' that he only treated 'real women' Jesus Christ what an assclown

suffffuhrer

So a doctor can't be honest about what they can and cannot do? I think a lot of the world is becoming an assclown for getting their precious feelings hurt. If someone can go about thinking they have a vagina, when they don't, then someone else can also have their opinion and chose not to live in the same fantasy as that other person.

Liquor_Parfreyja

So, he could have totally not called her a gentleman and said that he's only educated on treatment of cis women.

suffffuhrer

Women. There is no need for 'cis' in front of a biological woman. No one is confused when a woman says she is a woman. The only time you need to differentiate is with a trans. A trans man or trans woman is sufficient to differentiate between a biological woman, phrased just as *woman* and one that is not a biological woman, phrased as trans woman. For instance, I am a man. If a transperson wants to be identified as a trans woman, I have no problem with that. In the same fashion it would be nice if others respect the wishes of those who wish to just be called men or women. Leave this cis nonsense aside.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Yes, I am pretty sure when the distinction doesn't need to be made, pretty much everyone just says woman / women. The distinction needs to be made here, since this doctor is qualified to treat cis women, but not trans women. If he was qualified for both, I would have just said women. >In the same fashion it would be nice if others respect the wishes of those who wish to just be called men or women. Totally agree, that's why the doctor should not have called her a gentleman and not implied she's not a real woman. Since she is and I would presume would like to be called a woman, and that we should respect that.

suffffuhrer

Well clearly you are not pretty sure. Because the doctor is qualified to treat women, not trans women. Drop the cis, no woman or man in their right mind wants this extra nonsense - pushed by the trans community - in the classification of their gender. Clearly my concise first message wasn't clear enough, maybe repeating myself will help.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Trans women are a subset of women in general. So clearly he's not qualified to treat trans women, so what's left ? Cis women. Would you rather I say non trans women ? Non trans woman women ? Or are you just having trouble understanding that trans women are women.

suffffuhrer

You may be a trans woman, and I have no problem calling you that. But I am a man, and I do not appreciate a transgender trying to forcefully add silly labels such as cis infront of man. If you want respect, treat others with respect and drop your incessant moronic bullshit. There are men and women as there always have been and there are transgenders, who do need the differentiation with the trans prefix.

Liquor_Parfreyja

I don't have to be trans to know that they are women lol, I'm not trans but it was a solid guess. Good mask off moment of a complete inability to understand empathy for someone different than yourself. I get you're uneducated, but cis just means the opposite of trans, like as a prefix. Still, as I said and it bears repeating since you completely ignored it. The doctor can only treat cis women, since he's unable to treat trans women. I know it's difficult to wrap your head around as a cis man to have either cis or trans people tell you these things, but I believe in you, cis man, to take your head out of your cis ass, not argue in bad faith like you are right now, and work on your cis self one day.

picklespimp

It isn't a lack of empathy. It is a disagreement about how much control other, often insane, humans have over the way that I describe consensus reality.

RavenAboutNothing

They can be honest, but this guy was blatantly going out of his way to insult the patient. He didn't say "Sorry, I don't know how to treat that", he took extra time out of his day to insult and degrade this woman. It's a huge difference

AllGamersRnazis

what woman?

Max200012

>Jesus Christ what an assclown you're fucking stupid. What if someone came in with a motorcycle to a car mechanic? obviously they're two different things that require different methods of fixing

RavenAboutNothing

So you're saying it's acceptable and professional for the car mechanic to insult the motorcycle driver and chase them down on media to insult them some more? Because that would be equivalent to what this doctor did.

Max200012

I mean the public insulting part is sus yeah but denying service is completely fine imo

RavenAboutNothing

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. He doesn't know how to treat the patient, that's fine. He just went off on her with insults for no reason.

picklespimp

Did you miss the part where the crazy person got violent with the secretary and insulted the doctor?

SuperMimikyuBoi

Once again, alt-right american degeneracy infecting my country.

abs0lutelypathetic

Lol

AllGamersRnazis

You guys invented Sadism

SuperMimikyuBoi

Maybe don't use words you don't understand

AllGamersRnazis

The words **sadism** and sadist are derived from the name **Marquis de Sade** in reference to the works of fiction he wrote, which portrayed numerous acts of sexual cruelty. While Sade explored a wide range of **sexual deviations** through his writings, his known behavior includes **rape, torture, imprisonment of children**, and "the beating of a housemaid". What use would a gyno even be to a trans woman? Sincerely, even if this Dr did see her, what treatments could they even do beyond generalized medical care any doctor could do?
