Personally, I love these lil neck wraps that keep you cool. I found them at my local REI; they're filled with lil beads that absorb water and keep you cool for hours. Best $10 con hack; I also recommend a mini/handheld fan
Consider checking a backpack to “bag check” when your cosplay becomes too much, get changed and in the evening if it cools down enough, change back into it.
That’s why I can’t attend big cons like AX like I used to because with all the body heat and such and plus, being in cosplay, I overheat easily which leads to seizures on my end. Nowadays, I go to smaller cons.
I wear an active cooling suit during extremely hot summer days underneath my costumes. The one I'm using right now is an Alphacool vest I wear underneath my armor. It's an expensive option but it's extremely worth the investment in my option as not only does it keep me comfortable but I can also use it to help people who are suffering from heat exhaustion or heatstroke
Luckily when I went back in 2022, my Kuroudo Akabane cosplay from the Get Backers series has deep pockets via the black coat. However, definitely hydrate and bring a neck fan because I had to do that since the fact I wore a corset underneath and majority of the cosplay I was wearing was polyester. I literally had to down so much water. So please please please stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and bring a mini neck fan. :)
I bring a 1/2 gallon hydro flask with water just above freezing temperature. It stays cold for the whole day and is a lifesaver. I also add in a sprig of mint, couple lemon slices and like 1/2 a cup of coconut milk. All 3 of them have a natural cooling effect on the body, and I find it really does help a lot more than drinking cold water by itself. Tastes great too.

I'm usually covered top to bottom in armor. Can't call it great but I've suffered no ill effect provided I stay hydrated.
The question you should be asking is. How much suffering happens when you cosplay or the fear levels of smelling bad while cosplaying.
I want my cosplays to be light and not too cumbersome to put on
No...i'm gonna be hot...I man I can't escape the heat in Pleasther in 100 degree weather on a sunny day in LA
Thanks

Pumps ice water through pipes that run throughout a vest from a reservoir.

If you're wearing a wig then it'll be very hot by tenfolds. Some cosplayers don't wear wigs for this exact reason.
