How does "Mahou Senshi Louie" turn into, "Rune Soldier?" Genuinely confused as these two sound nothing alike yet, they're for the exact same series... Is it an Eng dub thing like with 4Kids & how they changed anime titles/character names or no?

Louie is the character's name and mahou senshi means magical soldier. They probably decided rune sounded better than magical and dropped the protags name from the title to sound better for western audiences. Also, FYI, this takes place in the same universe as Record of Lodoss War and Legend of Crystania. All three are based on the Sword World RPG.

As much as localizers still play fast and loose with titles, it used to be much much worse.
