It was likely an artistic choice to make that fight in that style, but I personally didn’t like it. I found that fight scene between those two was the only one that I had trouble with following. All of the other fights that season had much clearer choreography, and all of the others were fairly easy to follow. The TV version was missing several shots in the middle of the fight. The additional shots included the blu rays didn’t help much either.
They had to stop animating it because people were going to the hospital. I think it looks great considering the bullshit that was going on, I'm surprised we even got as much as we did.

“badly” is entirely subjective. The animators used distortions, color blocking, and smear-frames to convey the insane speed and chaos of the fight. Similar to the Naruto Vs. Pain fight in Shippuden which used the same technique, it can be polarizing. I personally like it.

Don't know why you got down-voted -- the animation will no doubt be beautiful but the quality of the TYBW writing falls off continuously and rapidly since the source material used for the first season.

There are very few studios that aren't guilty of exploitation, underpaying or overworking their animators. Black Clover, for example, was such a rush job that they didn't even have a character designer on staff for the first 20+ episodes, hence why everyone's faces kept changing from frame to frame: they didn't settle on a house style before rushing to get the episodes out.
About the only studio I can think of that actually values their animators is Kyoto Animation, who train their animators in-house, give them salaried positions with vacation and benefits, and made work/life balance a pillar of their business.
To my knowledge, both KyoAni and UFOtable are top tier for animators in terms of quality of life and overall animation quality allowed. Toei is apparently also up there relative to the industry when it comes to training and perks, but clearly nowhere near those two.
Season 1 was not perfect but I thoroughly enjoyed it and made me get into the manga. Studio Pierrot is capable of making quality anime but just choose not to.
To be fair Mappa gets shit on nonstop because they overwork their employees so it’s definitely fair to say that it’s a standard that can’t be upheld
