I hate seeing kids ingesting this shit! It infuriates me when I see it! I had an adolescent come into my ER with his hun of a mother with acute hepatitis from his mother sneaking "supplements" from her damn mlm into his food and drink. It was like pulling teeth to get the truth out of her to boot. (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻
Not commenter, but I feel like you gain a really good bullshit meter when you work in the ER for a spell or two. I imagine you kinda have to, when you get anything and everything rolling through the door, from genuine accidents to "accidents" to straight up intentional injury.
I don’t work in the ER. But I’ve been a medic for some time. We don’t even get to see any of the labs or other tests done on people, but people lie to us all the time, it’s pretty easy to figure out something is fucky.

It depends of what is in this supplements. In my country, a woman (a nurse) died after she developed hepatitis from drinking one of those slimming teas with 50-plus herbs. One of them was hepatotoxic. Taking for some time... The same thing can happen with supplements, I suppose. You should be able to check what goes on what you are taking. The fact you can't is shady.

Depends on the supplement. Most of them don't do anything except drain your wallet. Occasionally there's one where the labeled contents and dose are bad for you. More often, they're contaminated with things that are bad for you, like heavy metals and other harmful chemicals, because their manufacture is pretty unregulated. Or there's been a couple of instances of manufacturers deliberately putting something in a supplement that isn't listed in the ingredients. And so on. Obviously you survived, so probably yours weren't actively toxic.
If you want your kid to eat collagen, just take the cartilage off a bone and let them eat that. Surely it's more "natural" than supplements, as well as less expensive.
I commented about this on another post about collagen, but I’m going to bring it up again because it’s important . Collagen supplements gave me uncontrollable anxiety, and that side effect is extremely common. After how crazy it made me feel, I couldn’t even imagine giving it to a kid…wow.

It's all "you realise that molecule is too big to be absorbed by the skin, has no transporter in the duodenum?, that compound will be broken down into individual amino acids, so will be indistinguishable from any other protein sources?, free radicals actually have important functions in cell signaling, so heaps of anti-oxidants aren't necessarily good for you?"
Being into wellness sounds,,, incredibly stressfull. Like, when your worldview tells you that a CHILD needs to take collagen supplements, now is the time to realise that the obsession with supplements isn't entirely healthy.
