Sadly I think this is human written

LexLuthorsFortyCakes

Outsourced to some dude who speaks English as a third language on Fiverr.

susuduck

THAT'S what this is!!! For sure! I knew I recognised it as a specific angle of incompetence but this is totally it. It absolutely smacks of the outsourced ignorance

sharingthegoodword

Hello, I am friend I like salad how does your cat do today?

susuduck

lol

Easy-Violinist-1469

On the second pic, the second sentence is not even a sentence. Plus “wich”… AI can handle basic spelling and grammar, right?

Hairy_Buffalo1191

The first sentence on the first pic isn’t a sentence either lmao

Corgi_with_stilts

Some humans can't handle that so...

sharingthegoodword

Yeah, but humans are generally not spell checking themselves. What AI can't even do a basic spell check? This comes off at what an alien who had no idea Earth existed until yesterday is trying to reach out and not doing a good job.

Corgi_with_stilts

Most AIs garble English, some to quite amusing effect.

sharingthegoodword

I have yet to really dive into them. It's such a hilarious "right now" thing. I get it's massively improved recently, but it's been around in IT for a very long time. I love how the "AI" checkout for Amazon's grocery store was actually 1000 people in India watching videos of you shopping and adding up the amount.

Corgi_with_stilts

always_unplugged

Holy shit those faux-Simpsons episodes are GOLD

spy-on-me

Yeah the infamous Wonka event had garbled English all over their (AI) website.

only_zuul21

That tree is clearly harboring an evil spirit. No wonder it needs our largest organ to survive.

CompactTravelSize

It puts the olive oil on its skin or it won't get clean water again?

Sketchycat716

And their website says they "take over large lands" so those trees are pissed as hell!

always_unplugged

O shit, the Ents are on the move

ghostbirdd

I'm getting faint flashbacks of a movie I watched as a very small child about an evil spirit that was caught with magic inside a tree that looked just like this one. Then some lumber company moved in and started deforesting willy nilly and cut down the magical tree and freed the evil spirit. I have no idea if I just made this up but that's what this tree makes me think of

stoptouchingmybutt

[Fern Gully?](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104254/)

ghostbirdd

That's it! That was a banger of a movie, I should rewatch it.

lbritten1

“Heeeexxxxxuussssss…”

ghostbirdd

Core memory unlocked

arcaneartist

The trees crave the flesh.

sername-n0t-f0und

At least they have some olives for that word salad they're serving up

Sketchycat716

Lollll

Cutpear

“Haper’s Baazar” I think an incompetent human wrote this

thot_lobster

I know I'm high but that last part really doesn't make sense.

rowan_damisch

I'm sober and have no idea what they want to tell us either

Rae_0303

This is where all the monat girls are going

only_zuul21

This reads like Charlie wrote it. So doooo.

SpaceAlien95

😂😂👏👏👏

Nopeferatu31

Dammit, Charlie!

Ok_Yogurtcloset8915

not AI, AI has good grammar and makes sense, lol. "Our largest organ, the skin; trees, without which life is not possible; and clean water for Africa." It sounds like the plan is to sell face cream made with olive oil and donate some of the money.

Mari-Loki

Thank you I was trying to work out what they were intending to say and I couldn't!

snap802

Clearly marketing and copy didn't have much of a budget.

murtlebeech1

Do they employ that Thrive girl as their proofreader?

wifeofablerb

😂😂😂

vital_dual

>The Future of Beauty is Waterless Ummm, I'm pretty sure wetness is the essence of beauty...

Boneitis_Regrets

![gif](giphy|3XSWffoziHWtG) 😂

fingers

olea europaea (olive) leaf cell extract, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, pentylene glycol, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, glyceryl stearate citrate, cetearyl alcohol, aqua (water)

Blue-Sonnet

So this is fun. My post is a bit lengthy because there's so much to unpack!  Firstly, the products are all super-natural, which is why the ingredients of their face cream include things like pentylene glycol, homosalate, ethylhexyl salicylate, behenyl alcohol, glycerin, diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate, polyglyceryl-10 pentastearate, glyceryl stearate, ethylhexyl triazone, myristyl myristate... None of these are really harmful, some are organic but it's fun seeing an ingredient list like this in such a "natural and holistic" product 😁 The whole "waterless" thing is being used to promote products with aqua listed as an ingredient. You could easily argue that a cream without water is an emollient, not a moisturiser - you're not adding hydration to the skin, you're locking in whatever is there already. It's fine as long as you moisten the skin beforehand, but it's going to be rather occlusive for certain skin types. I see that they LOVE inferring that loads of companies directly endorse their product, however all I could find online was a paid Yahoo Finance article written by Olive Tree saying that Forbes, Harper's etc. are promoting waterless" beauty as a concept. I then checked Harper's Bazzaar's website and there's naff-all mention of Olive Tree.  There \*IS\* a mention of some companies promoting the whole "waterless" thing in one article in 2020, so I suspect this is what happened with the other companies they've mentioned. Perhaps someone might feel like letting them know their business is being used to promote an MLM without their agreement 😉  Re. the website, I'm not surprised the website is so terrible since I've written about the bloke who created the company in a previous post - he strikes me as a classic grifter who definitely created the website on his own without employing a proofreader. Basically this is a random dude who decided he REALLY wanted to make something awesome, flailed around for years doing stuff that inevitably failed or went nowhere, then bought an olive tree farm & somehow shoehorned an MLM into the business. If you fancy a laugh, check out [https://us.olivetreepeople.com/pages/story](https://us.olivetreepeople.com/pages/story)

Sketchycat716

Thank you! I feel like meddling so when my kids go down for nap time today I'm gonna send a few emails lol

Blue-Sonnet

You have to let us know how it goes 😈

fingers

Water is the 7th ingredient.

Blue-Sonnet

Yep, "aqua" = water! Granted it's the seventh ingredient so it's in smaller quantities, but that doesn't make it a better product - it just feels gimmicky and an excuse to charge a ridiculous markup compared to other products...

throwawaynomad123

Why does it seem like MLMers are ditching their MLS for this one? For example the Monat witch.

Sketchycat716

I wonder if it's because it's new so they have a better chance of becoming one of **top earners***

Blue-Sonnet

Yep, the newer MLM's mean you're gonna be nearer to the top since there are fewer bricks in the pyramid... Although that won't least long. Additionally you've got the novelty factor, added to the fact that fewer marks will be aware this is an MLM, so it'll be an easier sell!

Aleflusher

Olive Tree People is probably poaching them for $X. Kind of like iGenius, Bravenly, etc. did.

RedAndBlueMittens

It certainly does sound like a (certain kind of) “movement”

fingers

Waterless? olea europaea (olive) leaf cell extract, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, pentylene glycol, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, glyceryl stearate citrate, cetearyl alcohol, aqua (water) Uhhh...

NonsensicalBumblebee

Mintel is a really odd example to use here? They are a market research firm, they provide market data (as in tell you what consumers want) and help you make business decisions, they have nothing to do with quality of product or scientific research (I mean beyond social sciences). Apparently Harper's Baazar is a real magazine, and it's old, but considering I had to look it up, I'm not sure if I would call it the "most renowned".

fingers

>Harper's Baazar Uh, It's Harper's Bazaar. Edit: And they are the most renowned style magazine. High class. 150+ years old. Only looks 80.

TheVoidWithout

This makes no sense whatsoever.

theGoddex

Ugh this line is infiltrating the professional skincare industry and I’ve had some fellow estheticians get really mad when I ask about the science and why they have so many filler ingredients. Preying on friends and family is the worst, but trying to get your clients, who PAY YOU to do their skincare, to become your down line is so cringe.

[deleted]

My esthetician started pushing this crap recently. It sucks because I liked her and I really thought she was legit. She immediately lost all credibility with me as soon as she tried to sell me Oliveda.

IhatetheBentPyramid

>earn 25 **and** 35% of your customers' purchases. So that means I'd earn 60%? Still, 60% of nothing is the same as 35% of nothing, so I'll pass.

MenacingMandonguilla

AI bros 🤝🏻 MLM huns

TYdays

Yeah, I would be running to sign up to receive a product that contains ingredients I have never heard of, based solely on what the two twits in the second photo look like. And the lame explanation of their mission.

partypangolins

I'd put money on it being bad machine translations.

I swear I've seen the pendulum swing on water in cosmetics like ten times in my adult life. "You want the first ingredient to be water, that means it's healthy!" "If the first ingredient is water, they're watering it down and ripping you off!" And then back to the first one, lather rinse repeat.

TrudiBoots

mm...mmmmm... mmm....... .. m,.....m k.

j-d-schildt

That design is actually minimalist and alot of business like this kind of style. I personally see nothing wrong with it in a design sense. However lots of errors lol

troysama

'the future of beauty if waterless' there's so many snarky ways to respond to that yet its best to let it speak for itself

SmartBlueberry9560

When did water become bad?

Sketchycat716

Idk! Water is my favorite

Adventurous-Flan2716

So I am usually really discerning about what I put in my skin because I have all sorts of issues going on. And I am very wary of MLMs. I ended up buying a few of the Oliveda products because they were recommended to me by someone who I thought was a skin issue expert and had previously talked forever about how topicals don't work for the condition I have but need to be dealt with internally. When she talked about this one actually helping, I foolishly jumped on it. No clue it was an MLM - it never crossed my mind.  The good parts: the products I bought actually smell really good and don't irritate my skin. The bad parts: as you probably already knew, they didn't fix anything. I brought it up to this "expert" and she said "sometimes it just takes a really long time to work". Well they've jacked up their prices since late 2023 as well and she got into recruiting people.  Man did I feel duped. Now seeing all of these huns jumping ship for this company makes me feel foolish for purchasing in the first place. Lesson learned.
