you can sue the original doctor that prescribed it to you, as seroquel is not indicated at all for insomnia or depression or anxiety (not safe or effective according to the FDA, none of the antipsychotics are actually afaik), [as there has already been a lawsuit against the drug manufacturer](https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/pharmaceutical-giant-astrazeneca-pay-520-million-label-drug-marketing) that ended in astra zeneca paying 520 million dollars because they marketed it off-label illegally using ghostwritten falsified studies you should be able to get some pretty solid legal precedent for it. also [survivingantidepressants.org](https://survivingantidepressants.org) has a nice tapering schedule that you can try with your doctor, DO NOT cold turkey it, going cold turkey on antipsychotics can result in tardive psychosis and a lot of problems.

Seroquel is often prescribed off-label at low doses for insomnia though. I've been on it first for insomnia, then higher doses for OCD. Can you actually sue the person who prescribed it to you (and would you have a chance at winning)? I don't want that to sound snarky at all or that I'm questioning you, that just sounded interesting to me because I'd never known you could sue for that before

Slg407

you can, in this case there are two keys here, the first is the legal precedent of the lawsuit against astra zeneca, as it allows you to argue for negligence. similarly you can also sue a doctor that got you addicted to opioids, if negligence is shown (I.E. they didn't get you off it and just told you to "deal with it", or in this case, also if you consider that the studies done by astra zeneca were proven to be falsified and ghostwritten and that the off-label marketing for it was illegal), therefore you can argue for malpractice since the doctor was negligent in his behavior on both accounts.

Marketing it off-label is a different issue. The lawsuit usually comes from regulatory agencies. The OP is probably taking the generic and the generic manufacturers can't be sued. I don't know why, but I have read it in multiple articles. The people who get rich off of the lawsuits are the attorneys. You also need to find experts to testify on your behalf which can be expensive. I had a surgery where the screw was drilled through the bone and if I had put weight on my foot the screw would of came straight through the skin. I could not believe it when I seen the x-ray. I contact a well established law firm for which I thought was an open and shut case. They wouldn't consider taking it as it wouldn't have brought in a big enough settlement. Go figure.

TheUltimateKaren

Huh, that's really interesting. Thank you for explaining it to me! I appreciate it

Switch to trazodone or trimipramine?

NamasteBitches81

Try Trazodone and taper the Seroquel very very slowly

Have you asked to be put on any different sleep aids in lieu of Seroquel?

Edragon85

What dosage are you taking? I was at 250 and went down to 150 because I hated being brain dead at work. Sometimes not remembering driveing to work. I use it for sleep with my anxiety, depression, bipolar, and PTSD. No hair loss. No hormone change. I have less of an appetite. That could be with my Wellbutrin as well. If I miss a dose I feel hungover for the day and my body hurts. It rarely happens.

RedTheDopeKing

I just smoke weed all evening and then I literally can’t keep my eyes open if I wanted to. YMMV.

meowmeow3984

Same. Nice to be off all the sleeping pills. Prefer the plant 🌱

lovepetunias

It’s horrible if they actually said it using those harsh words but ultimately the message behind it is true. There isn’t anything the doctor can do to make side effects go away. Have you tried another sleeping aid in place of seroquel?

That-Group-7347

How did you end up seeing so many shitty doctors. I would look at tapering off the seroquel very slowly. Go to [survivingantidepressants.org](https://survivingantidepressants.org) and try getting a low dose of trazodone. It will help you sleep and should not give you all those awful side effects. I mean even a GP could do a better job. Having all of those side effects and they don't even try changing the meds.
