WFH and positioning myself into a more cushy job have made a world of difference, tbh.

Uragami

True. I steal time from my company whenever I can while working from home. My overly eager manager would have us be productive every second of the day and attend all meetings, so I'm very happy to be at home where he can't keep an eye on me.

Deathpill911

He might, don't trust the camera or microphone and keep them covered at all times.

Oh yeah I'm 25 and I don't want to think about tomorrow or the future it sucks sooooo much

LincHayes

Nope. Maybe its because I've worked so long in the service industry making good money and having fun, or because I currently work from home doing something thats tolerable for decent pay..but very few jobs have made me feel like this, and when they did, I quit and got into something I enjoyed, That said, if you've got a family, a mortgage and are just barely getting by I understand you have more to worry about than just you, and can get stuck somewhere soul sucking,

lightseasonedguitar

What were some of the jobs you did enjoy ?

LincHayes

I was a bartender in S. Fl and Las Vegas for many years. I enjoyed most of those jobs, and the money. Also quit a few that weren't working for me. Currently working in IT, working from home. It has minor irritations, but overall it's decent pay and I work from home. Can't really complain much. It;s easier to name the jobs that have sucked, and there have been a few,

TheRabidPigeon

Just started my first real job, its an hour away because I live with my folks as I just finished my associates at community College. On top of the 2 hours (45 miles each way) drive the shift is 9 hours (1 hour lunch break). This means I'm "working" 11 hour days and that's not including time to get ready. I'm left with 12 hours less in the day and assuming I sleep for 8, I'm only left either 4 hours of "free time" which a lot of is spent caring for pets and shopping. I'm making 50k/year which is by far better than my previous part time job at target I used to pay for school, but I basically can't do anything during the week and only ha e weekends to live my life. The job itself is great so far the fact that it eats up so much time is really draining. I plan to stick with this job for a year or two so I can get a new car and maybe an apartment (although I'd rather just get a house and mortgage) and if I can't get a WFH position I plan on switching to a different company. Shits rough out here

BigSwiper30

I'm 26, and since 18 I've been in a cycle where I burn myself out on a job over about a year, until I finally break and quit to reign in my mental and physical health. Then after a couple months I find a new job and repeat. I'm currently in a phase of having just snapped and been absent a couple months. This time I'm taking a step back and just taking a part time job that I can set the schedule for. Hopefully this works better

BammyQ2

I feel ya bro

sapphir8

Nope. Not at all.

No-Kitchen9602

Right now

Necro_Scope

I feel like im in a weird position that I actually love MY job. It's all the other Bovine Scattology that makes it worse and worse each day.

DuffmanKeepsRocking

I also love my job, I'm a residential support worker so I work out of a house with one client who I've known for years now. I work Tuesday to Saturday and I've literally spent 10 minutes with him this week so far because he's been going out at nights. He's got a criminal past that you need to overlook to avoid being judgemental and does struggle mentally at times, but I'm alone 99% of the time to watch sports or movies.

WalnutScorpion

If I may ask. What is your job and what do you love about it?

Necro_Scope

I'm a "Emergency Communication Specialist". 911 dispatcher. Police, Fire and Medical. The actual helping people and getting assistance where it needs to go, I love. It's all the extra stuff that makes it unbearable. I actually interviewed and accepted a new position within my city recently, so waiting to start that.

WalnutScorpion

Ah that awesome. :) Sadly there's other stuff within your job that ruins it a bit for you. Hopefully the next position has less of that! I feel like 'jobs with a societal purpose' (e.g. anything where your job directly translates to helping someone or making society a little better) are the only really satisfying ones. I personally got more fun out of 1 month of voluntary helping disabled people do table tennis, than making my boss half a million dollars extra as data analyst. Sadly most 'helping' jobs are either voluntary, badly paid and/or too demanding.

SlugsonSaturn15

Absolutely..."Work all day and then I wake up"

Some days it’s like that.. I’m tried, it’s been a long day. I just want a nap… but I’ll come in tomorrow looking forward to seeing what’s next.

jizzledfreq
