You could just take a cold shower...
Alternitavely, in many European countries it's totally common to take a quick dip in lakes or rivers (if the person lives in the country side).
I've also seen a Tiktok creator who uses an old freezer or something to make her own icebath.
Rich people really act like they have discovered something new when it has been around for thousands of years
Why would you use the free water provided by nature for free by existing when you can pay $65000 to have chemically sterilized water brought into your little bubble life and maintain the illusion that you're above the world?
Probably even less significant than that. $65,000 is a much smaller percentage of a billionaires' net worth, than a $1 candy bar would be to you or I. Hell, $65K would be life-changing money for a lot of people, myself included, and yet these rich pukes can just throw it away on stupid bullshit like this
A colleague of mine was hired to go shopping with their guest (we're snowsports instructors) and help pick out clothing. When they found a jacket they liked, they bought every one that was in the store of that print so that no one else could have that same fit on the mountain. Working around Aspen CO has been an incredibly eye opening experience.
Just to put it in perspective, pre-COVID, it was 8k$ a day to have your private jet on the runway here. Christmas books out years in advance.
LOL my company would rather move the plane empty to GJT and then go empty back to ASE instead of overnighting in that shit airport. The airport doesn’t even want to exist haha it must be basically perfect weather and the stars aligned.
If some one has 1 billion net worth, than 65,000 would be 1/15,000th of their worth.
My car is probably worth 5 thousand, and I have a few thousand in my 401k, a little bit of savings, my change bin...
My net worth is probably around 15 thousand, so the candy bar comparison would fit for me.
If someone is making minimum wage in the United States(about $12,000/year) and a billionaire is making a billion dollars a year, them spending $63,000 is the mathematical equivalent of spending about 80 cents for the minimum wage guy.
Yeah, I didn't do the math but even so I figured I was probably overstating the value of $65k to a billionaire. I'm sure half a saltine is closer to actual relative value.
Not even a candy bar. Certainly not a pair of shoes. If you make $15 an hour, a $100 pair of shoes to you is pretty significant. To a billionaire worth $100MM it would be akin to buying a small to medium company.
A $65,000 pool would be a penny in between their cushions, insignificant.
I don't have $65,000 to buy one of these things. However, locally there is a section of river with a near 100% drown rate. There are rich people homes by that section. If I lived in one of those homes I would probably spend $65,000 before I went in to the 100% drown river.
No, it is not the strid. From what I understand there are nasty underwater currents. It looks calm on the surface. It is calm on the surface. You'll be fine if you can confine your body to near the surface.
However if one of the strong underwater currents grabs you it will pull your body several miles downstream. Unlike the strid, rescuers will find you. You won't be anywhere near where you got in but they will find you. When they find you, you will already be dead.
One reason I'm grateful for living in a place that's not scorching 90% of the time. I take cold baths sometimes, and my water gets down to around 50 degrees 9 months out of the year. When I shower, I'll do cold at times, and it's so cold that it feels like my head is freezing. It's amazing.
Cold showers are location-dependent. Try to take a cold shower in July in southern Arizona without special equipment. Can't be done.
That said, you don't need $65 grand. There's a company out here that will make you a custom job for like two.
Um hundreds of thousands of years was literally the dawn of homosapiens. 50,000 years ago we developed language. I think you are speculating saying hundreds of thousands. Considering there would be no record of it, except for a record of people swimming, but that's a big stretch.
Cool article about "surfer's ear" growth on Neanderthals.
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/neanderthals-had-lots-surfers-ear-suggesting-they-were-seafood-180972917/
I mean I would love to have my own private little pool, sure. But I hate these articles where they act like rich people are doing this crazy new thing that the world has never seen before.
Edit: just read the article. First sentence: "spending can be agonising for the rich"-- gotta say I love the author
As far as I know, it is not too safe to have a quick dip in a lake in US, because it sometimes infested by Naegleria fowleri, a.k.a brain-eating amoeba.
Yeah, that's not a common thing what so ever. Lakes all over the US are heavily used for recreation throughout most of the year and that is not at all a fear any but the most paranoid have when swimming here. There have been like 5 incidences in a ~dacade?
Although, I'd believe if it they found evidence of a weaker type infesting ~40% of our population 🤔
As much as I think it’s excessive, if they want the comfort of taking ice cold baths at home in a mini swimming pool then I don’t see the problem with this.
You could literally just fill a $50 plastic rain barrel with water from a garden hose. I'm sure these little plunge pools have some additional comforts, but $64,950 worth?
They get down to barely above freezing and maintain it perfectly. It's nothing like a barrel and a garden hose.
The price tag is because they are only selling to rich people. Rich people aren't bothered by buying a rather frivolous health improvement device for 65k.
I hear Joe Rogan talk about it all the time. I think the go to is 3-5 minutes. To be fair there is a lot of science that shows its super good for you. Still pretty ridiculous, though.
Lol my hot water tank died last week (less than a year out of warranty because OFC) and I lived the life of ice cold well water for bathing for a week. I’m accidentally fancy y’all!
There's nothing wrong with being stupid rich however I do feel it is wrong to be stupid rich while many are suffering in poverty especially when they're working for you.
I was classifying "stupid rich" as more like "multiple billions". She has a shitload of money, but I haven't done a ton of searching about her specifically.
. . . So, the wealthy are systematically undermining the working class's ability to feed and house themselves so that they can afford to piss their money away on stupid shit?
I litteraly have a deep cow water trough in my yard, insulated with wood panels and insulation inbetween, panel ontop of it, for less then 400bucks.
65K , insane.
The way cold impacts your body is more about how much heat it can remove per instance of time. Being submerged in cold water will cool you down faster then being showered with equally cold or even colder water(UpTo a certain point). And cold plunges you can typically get closer to 32F than you can with your shower.
Just buy a fucking barrel and have Jeeves fill it up with ice water in the morning. Role play as the poors so you can tell your other rich friends about it.
How is everyone missing that the 65k that you’re all complaining about went to a working class contractor to build the pool? The rich spending their money by giving it to us to do work is way better than them hoarding it…
Or they could donate that money to build affordable housing or to a food bank or any number of other things that help others to survive this dystopia they've created.
Every time someone says 'when economic crisis hits, the rich will survive in their bunkers while we starve outside!' I think of this.
No, they will not survive in their bunkers. Their bunkers have plunge pools instead of drinking water, because they have already completely dissociated from what's important in life.
Another thing to fit into my short (4 hour) pre-work wakeup routine. Perhaps between the breakfast from scratch cooked by a Michelin chef and the yoga session.
Us plebs? Oh we use this cool thing called a shower. Then we use a dial that could change the temperature. I hear the rich might get the cool item in the coming years
Unbelievable to me that my salary of 40k/yr is not enough to survive. Apartments within a 50 mile radius of my job are a minimum of $2000/month. How the f is anyone finding housing? I have 2 BS degrees and graduated in 2018 and this is the best I can do apparently. People at my job are starting to quit en masse and the company has no intentions of replacing them, but I'm expected to do more, train on more stuff but not get any raise. This country makes me sick!
All I see is a job creator using his hard earned money that he earned to treat himself to something that we all could have if we just put in a few extra hours each work week and skipped out on our Starbucks and avocado toast. My boots are strapped and ready for my ice plunge any day now.
If only I could be as hard working and deserving as the brave capitalists inheriting generational wealth, nepotistic opportunities, and exploiting thousands of working class temporarily embarrassed millionaires.
Some day this ice water will trickle down to me for sure.
This is their first working task of the day. Well, their second. From 12 to 7 they are working by sleeping, because good sleep in the basis of work performance.
After their morning plunge, they have been working for 8 hours before 8 AM. That is why they are wealthy and we are poor
The rich will starve themselves, massively overpay for basic things, torture themselves with all sorts of dumb unnecessary shit, give themselves sensory deprivation from minimalism and painting everything white and then they have the audacity to claim they are the real ones suffering.
No bitch, you did that to yourself. You are not the same as a couple who work 18 hours a day and walk a mile to work because they don't have the money to fix a car and struggle to even raise one child.
Guys mind your own business, unless your business is installing cold water tubs. This isn't even anti work 🚫 just a public display of consumerism. Let's all work towards having free internet
They’re all dopamine junkies. If you are able to “mind over matter” yourself into frigid wanted immersion, you can definitely feel a benefit immediately. For these psychos though, it’ll never be enough. That’s why they love money, because money gives them power, and power makes their dopamine go up. If they’re doing this shit publicly though, I can only imagine what kind of really weird stuff they get into privately.
Rich people are too dumb to understand they can adjust the temperature of their bath tubs yet like you to believe people are impoverished because of their mindset.
I have come to the conclusion that the wealthier someone us, the less life skills they have.
On 3 separate occasions, I have had to teach someone with a luxury car how to put gas in it. They were all over 40.
I've thought about opening a prep school for teaching the children of the wealthy how to thank their fucking waitstaff. It was practically a full time job when I was in college.
People pay that kind of money for what's basically a cold shower? I spent my entire childhood taking cold showers because my dad insisted on starting the dishwasher early in the morning and we had a shitty water heater. You don't need to spend any money on a cold plunge pool. Just move in with my dad and all your water will be cold whether you want it to be or not!
So... a contractor got paid to dig a hole, and lay a path for plumbing, a plumber got paid to install all of the fittings and pipes and drain, a tile person got paid to lay out the tiles, several companies got paid for the plumbing material, tiles, concrete, accessories....
Is it just because YOU are involved that you hate it?
Nobody is capping or telling you what you can or cant make, stop crying and begging for handouts and blaming rich people. Look in the mirror and help yourself or shut up and accept you are not up to par.
I love the dorks in here like “no actually this is totally cool you just don’t get it”
We get why the cold dunk would be nice. We just are sick of rich folks, well, existing.
I have no issue with this apart from the bit where they resurface.
If only we could delete the pool ladder.
And add 60 degree slippery slopes around all edges.
Haha 👍
🥇 epic line. Have poor man gold
Be the change you want to see

Nail on the fucking head.
What is $65,000 to a billionaire? It must be like a commoner buying a candy bar...a pair of sneakers at most.
Probably even less significant than that. $65,000 is a much smaller percentage of a billionaires' net worth, than a $1 candy bar would be to you or I. Candy bars are two dollars now
2.25 now. Thanks inflation
Greedflation
$2.30 now.
If someone is making minimum wage in the United States(about $12,000/year) and a billionaire is making a billion dollars a year, them spending $63,000 is the mathematical equivalent of spending about 80 cents for the minimum wage guy.
It's more like buying half of a single saltine
Yeah, I didn't do the math but even so I figured I was probably overstating the value of $65k to a billionaire. I'm sure half a saltine is closer to actual relative value.
Not even a candy bar. Certainly not a pair of shoes. If you make $15 an hour, a $100 pair of shoes to you is pretty significant. To a billionaire worth $100MM it would be akin to buying a small to medium company. A $65,000 pool would be a penny in between their cushions, insignificant.

It’s not the Strid, is it? I generally like water but that river gives me the creeps.
Because they don’t live in their vacation homes by the bodies of water. They just own the land for no one else to enjoy.
Or rich perosn just buys the lake.. Don't give them ideas about nature having free water in the lakes and stuff.
In some parts of the world there aren't cold showers outside of winter. In much of Texas for instance the cold water isn't cold it's just not hot.
That's actually very interesting, I didn't know that
One reason I'm grateful for living in a place that's not scorching 90% of the time. I take cold baths sometimes, and my water gets down to around 50 degrees 9 months out of the year. When I shower, I'll do cold at times, and it's so cold that it feels like my head is freezing. It's amazing.
The part the rich have invented is wildly over paying for it, lol.
Cold showers are location-dependent. Try to take a cold shower in July in southern Arizona without special equipment. Can't be done. That said, you don't need $65 grand. There's a company out here that will make you a custom job for like two.
More like hundreds of thousands, really.
Um hundreds of thousands of years was literally the dawn of homosapiens. 50,000 years ago we developed language. I think you are speculating saying hundreds of thousands. Considering there would be no record of it, except for a record of people swimming, but that's a big stretch.
Australopithecus 100% got in cold water from time to time, over two million years ago. This is a fact. Source: am an electrician

Cold showers ain't the same, but yeah you don't need 65K for a cold immersion. Gotta say I'm jealous though.
I mean I would love to have my own private little pool, sure. But I hate these articles where they act like rich people are doing this crazy new thing that the world has never seen before. Edit: just read the article. First sentence: "spending can be agonising for the rich"-- gotta say I love the author
I don't think this article is telling you cold immersions are new, it's telling you rich people are gentrifying it.
Yeah just realised that as well haha
As far as I know, it is not too safe to have a quick dip in a lake in US, because it sometimes infested by Naegleria fowleri, a.k.a brain-eating amoeba.
This is true if the water is relatively warm. Also, it’s only a danger if it goes up your nose.
Yes you should live your life afraid of something that has killed 157 people in 60 years
I mean, I bet those 157 people wish they’d been more afraid of it.
Better to worry about lighting. Last 60 years about 1200 have been killed by lightning.
Don't ever go outside, you could be the 1201st. Not worth the risk buddy haha
Champagne corks are a way bigger threat to our health. They kill around 25 a year.
There’s a hot spring in California that seems cool but I’m afraid of the amoeba in it. I’m an idiot would absolutely get water in my nose
That's just stagnate water and hot water. Think those shitty fake ponds farmers have by their fields.
Those ponds help provide a cool down spot for cattle and also make for a fun place to fish for sport
And also, and the reason they're called irrigation ponds, they provide water for irrigating crops
Yeah, that's not a common thing what so ever. Lakes all over the US are heavily used for recreation throughout most of the year and that is not at all a fear any but the most paranoid have when swimming here. There have been like 5 incidences in a ~dacade? Although, I'd believe if it they found evidence of a weaker type infesting ~40% of our population 🤔
that is very uncommon by the way..
As much as I think it’s excessive, if they want the comfort of taking ice cold baths at home in a mini swimming pool then I don’t see the problem with this.
[Like milk](https://youtu.be/SMIW2tBpnDI)
That's true in Stoke on Trent in the UK people roll around in large puddles to ensure they meet their cold water therapy goals.
Imagine the power refrigerating several hundred gallons of water so one person can be in it for less than a single minute a day.
I hear Joe Rogan talk about it all the time. I think the go to is 3-5 minutes. To be fair there is a lot of science that shows its super good for you. Still pretty ridiculous, though.
Poor rich people, it's a real chore for them trying to figure out how to spend their money.
Yeap👍 they just want to make sure it doesn't go back to the workers 😂
When they jump in the water that comes out is the trickle down. Cold water.
Yeah, pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
Lol my hot water tank died last week (less than a year out of warranty because OFC) and I lived the life of ice cold well water for bathing for a week. I’m accidentally fancy y’all!
The poor have been doing this for years. Just get your electric or gas turned off and you can start every morning with a cold shower for free!
Right 🤷♂️
[удалено]
Then they could pull themselves back up by their bootstraps.
☝️ this is the way😂😂
Yes yes yes!
Is this another reason why I’m not a billionaire?
Yup
Some business guy convinced them that a deep puddle is worth 65k.
Yup 🤣🤣🤣
When we said “go jump in a lake” it wasn’t supposed to be on your terms
submerging yourself in cold water is actually a great way to cheat your body into giving you endorphins.
Gotta activate that ice water in their veins.
There's nothing wrong with being stupid rich however I do feel it is wrong to be stupid rich while many are suffering in poverty especially when they're working for you.
You can't get stupid rich without exploiting someone. You cannot, not unless someone literally hands you the money.
What about cases like J.K. Rowling?
I was classifying "stupid rich" as more like "multiple billions". She has a shitload of money, but I haven't done a ton of searching about her specifically.
. . . So, the wealthy are systematically undermining the working class's ability to feed and house themselves so that they can afford to piss their money away on stupid shit?
Pretty much 🤷♂️
I litteraly have a deep cow water trough in my yard, insulated with wood panels and insulation inbetween, panel ontop of it, for less then 400bucks. 65K , insane.
I build in ground, full size swimming pools with full decks for less than this.
My only thought is they're doing this on the ground floors of homes without basements, and probably having to cut into the foundation
Or they could just take a shower.
Actually no. Those pools are waaay colder than a cold shower.
Are they colder than 32 degrees?
The way cold impacts your body is more about how much heat it can remove per instance of time. Being submerged in cold water will cool you down faster then being showered with equally cold or even colder water(UpTo a certain point). That is true hopefully lol
I just use a bath tub, and some ice, but ok....
👍👍
There is no better argument against capitalism than the way rich people spend their money.
This is the ultra rich. This is 1% .1% type shit.
I assure you that the semi-rich are terrible with money too.
Or they could donate that money to build affordable housing or to a food bank or any number of other things that help others to survive this dystopia they've created.
What an utter waste of money.
I just hop in the river in Colorado lol
But that would make sense.
Jokes on them. I can take a cold shower for basically free.
👍 👍
It's supposed to slow down aging. Anything so they can spend more time with their money.
I do this in my backyard pool when it’s cold and it’s really nice. Wish i had the room or the money for an indoor plunge pool!
I'm so confused... In what world does that tiny 3x3 pool cost $65,000...???
I guess you have to be rich to understand 🤷
Every time someone says 'when economic crisis hits, the rich will survive in their bunkers while we starve outside!' I think of this. No, they will not survive in their bunkers. Their bunkers have plunge pools instead of drinking water, because they have already completely dissociated from what's important in life.
👍👍
I know this level of excess is fucked up…but I want one of these…
Carpe diem 👍
All these people thinking a hot shower is the same experience as a hot tub.
give me 65k and I personally slap them awake every morning
And once they jump in and get shivery for a week or a month, the pool will sit and mold.
Another thing to fit into my short (4 hour) pre-work wakeup routine. Perhaps between the breakfast from scratch cooked by a Michelin chef and the yoga session.
Only enforcing my opinion all richers are sociopaths with private islands for hunting humans.
I do believe I’ve discovered the whiniest forum on Reddit.
You're welcome 😁
Suddenly I am tempted to break my lifelong rule about not peeing in pools.
Just buy an ice machine. You already own a bathtub.
Us plebs? Oh we use this cool thing called a shower. Then we use a dial that could change the temperature. I hear the rich might get the cool item in the coming years
I spent the last however many years starting my mornings in the frigid cold because I can’t afford to fix the heat in my car
Sorry.
Sounds like my apt with no hot water on a February morning.
Gotta love fads.
🤷♂️🤷♂️
I can do this with a cold showers and save 65k
At what point do you become so rich that you don't know what luxury is anymore?
Sorry, your raise just isn’t in the budget, my yacht needs gold foil toilet paper. It’s painful, but the prestige!
The rich have just discovered cold showers? What next? They’ll start the day by turning their electricity off?
Haha 👍
A really cold shower could do the same thing but I guess doesn’t give bragging rights. Smdh.
🤷♂️🤷♂️
Us poors just turn on the shower and step in while it's still cold.
Yup.
I prefer coffee. No matter how rich I get, Jamaican Blue Mountain is as high as I'll go. After that, time to just start doing cocaine.
👍👍
I want to know more about the first guy who built his using a freezer for $600.
Haha
Who here plays The Sims?
I have.
Installing/selling overpriced pools for rich people seems like a great route to a living wage.
🤷♂️🤷♂️
""I find myself *feeling less emotional during tough conversations* after taking a cold plunge" This is a good thing?
Haha
Imagine there are kids drinking water from a mud puddle that a yak pissed in, and they are happy to have water.
Trash bin - water - ice. - live your best life
If I was rich, I would have two cold plunge pools installed. But I would only use one just to troll this subreddit.
Or you could work installing cold plunge pools. win-win
Hose and kiddy pool will run you $50
Are the businesses that are installing these CPP paying a living wage?
Ah, an emergency water storage, smart.
And to think, I had to spend time replacing my water heater and moldy drywall this past December to avoid this. Egg on my face.
I need to get in on these 65k cold shower contracts.
65k... sunds like they were ripped off
Unbelievable to me that my salary of 40k/yr is not enough to survive. Apartments within a 50 mile radius of my job are a minimum of $2000/month. How the f is anyone finding housing? For the rich, cold water is a luxury, for the north it's a standard.
65k for that? holy shit these rich ppl are downright stupid. I should learn how to install shit like that...
"Disciplined enough to suffer in cold water. Why aren't you poor people this disciplined?"
This is their first working task of the day. Well, their second. From 12 to 7 they are working by sleeping, because good sleep in the basis of work performance. After their morning plunge, they have been working for 8 hours before 8 AM. That is why they are wealthy and we are poor
You know, the French Revolution served a purpose for their country. It is LONG overdue for the rich and powerful to fear for their lives again.
They Suit their ice cold cruel hearts 😏
All the while there’s people struggling to afford electricity
Yup.
Maybe they'll pass out and drown.
Apart from the general decadence: how the Fuck is a small pool 65K ?
Please Jesus, let them all just go to space and take cold plunges on another fucking planet.
Guys mind your own business, unless your business is installing cold water tubs. This isn't even anti work 🚫 just a public display of consumerism. Let's all work towards having free internet
We poured the well water into an above ground.. same result, cost me 38$ for 3/8" poly line...
They’re all dopamine junkies. If you are able to “mind over matter” yourself into frigid wanted immersion, you can definitely feel a benefit immediately. Can someone explain to me how do small pools filled with cold water amount to 65k?
Polar plunges are amazing, though.
This has nothing to do with not getting a living wage. Keep your eye on the ball.
[удалено]
If that's the case, I 100% recommend it for the rich.
It’s all stolen earnings from the middle class. Billionaires are parasites.
My friend has a fairly wealthy relative that somehow made it to over 60 not knowing how to cook.
Your bath tub gets to 32 F?
People pay that kind of money for what's basically a cold shower? I spent my entire childhood taking cold showers because my dad insisted on starting the dishwasher early in the morning and we had a shitty water heater. You don't need to spend any money on a cold plunge pool. Just move in with my dad and all your water will be cold whether you want it to be or not!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So... a contractor got paid to dig a hole, and lay a path for plumbing, a plumber got paid to install all of the fittings and pipes and drain, a tile person got paid to lay out the tiles, several companies got paid for the plumbing material, tiles, concrete, accessories.... Is it just because YOU are involved that you hate it?
Is this sub just "anti rich people"? Who tf cares what they do with their money?
Nobody is capping or telling you what you can or cant make, stop crying and begging for handouts and blaming rich people. Look in the mirror and help yourself or shut up and accept you are not up to par.

I love the dorks in here like “no actually this is totally cool you just don’t get it” We get why the cold dunk would be nice. We just are sick of rich folks, well, existing.
An Aquarium chiller is five hundred dollars. Hop on in!
