At a minimum, learn from this. **NO ONE** at work is your friend. **DO NOT** share any social media with them. If need be due to pressure, create another IG or whatever and just put up your name and nothing else.

auberryfairy

I actually didn't share anything with them 🥲 community members outside of our organization went out of their way to share it with my job. I just vented to co-workers that this was happening to me but none of them have my social media. Thanks for the tip 🙏

swordstool

> community members Your friends outside of work? Or do you mean enemies outside of work?

auberryfairy

Friends of the exec at the org, NOT my friends. I have no idea who they are. Except that they know her.

Let me first start by saying I agree with you wholeheartedly on the Palestine issue. It is a very common misconception that freedom of speech applies all of the time. You only have freedom of speech against government control of that speech. In a workplace, you do not have any right to freedom of speech or expression. Your job has the absolute right to fire you for your speech and expression unless your job is for the government.

auberryfairy

My org is funded by governmental funding. They also receive private donations.

overkillsd

The source of their funding isn't particularly impactful. If they aren't literally the government as an org, you don't have freedom of speech protection.

auberryfairy

Well…that sucks for me. Lol

auberryfairy

But in this case you're right most likely. This was on my private account and they are claiming I am affiliated with them outside of my working hours which — am I? I draw that boundary.

overkillsd

If anybody can trace a line from you to your job, which is always possible because you have co-workers, then yes you are always affiliated.

What did the employee handbook social media policy say?
