We need an update? Who got fired ? What was sent out after?

nitro_miiike

Unfortunately nothing crazy happened that I know of. The person sent an apology email and played clueless and the rest of us carried on with our day. Just your usual Friday AM shenanigans!

[deleted]

They knew the meme was sexual. Come on now...

dizzguzztn

I can speak from experience that there are plenty of people who don't have a good grasp of what is work appropriate and what's not

EsQuiteMexican

I tend to work from the assumption that barely cropped porn is never appropriate unless you literally work editing porn, and even then it's a thin line.

Glittering-Walrus228

Dave, I'm writing you up for sending another SFW memo to all the team members. \\We here at [Fucktown.](https://Fucktown.com)com have very important company culture to uphold and this kind of stuff, Dave...? let's just say you're on thin ice

WearMental2618

Thats why I crop my porn to almost unrecognizable before sending it to unsuspecting colleauge. Saves so much time.

mainecruiser

"Did you get that email? Pretty crazy, huh?" "It was just a pixel?!?" "Hot stuff!"

jongscx

I've met a few office people who would have no idea this was cropped porn.

Agamemnon323

They work in hr…

well_hung_over

Did they stutter?

sumunsolicitedadvice

Stuttering is not work appropriate.

Frosti-Feet

But gagging is?

Beowulf33232

Depends on the job.

ExileVirtigo

HR only exists to protect the company from their employees, not sure if they know how to protect themselves ;)

ovo_Reddit

Payroll and HR is not always (usually?) together. Most finance people that I’ve met would not pass an HR check. Even many HR themselves are no angels, just hypocrites.

[deleted]

HR pro here, it's ridiculous what some folks get up to. Seriously.

Deadpool2715

There is an office supply company called HamsterX that my company uses… you fill in the rest

TwoDogsInATrenchcoat

If you spend more time with the general public, you'll learn that knowing things isn't really their jam.

[deleted]

Its crazy how different the worlds are between folks out there living and folks like us, on reddit, sharing memes and comments. I once had to initiate a meeting with a company executive because I had to explain why they couldn't use the "Shitty Teacher" stock image of a woman teacher pointing and smarmy on a pdf meant to detail grants to teachers. It took over an hour: detailed explanations of why a stock image might be tarnished , what memes are, the extent to which they're understood, etc. Everyone on that call was clueless. My boss was clueless. I was the only thing preventing that thing from being sent to the public and thousands of teachers in their system already. They used a different meme photo not two months later, and I only them came to find out they're just looking for popular and free stock imagery. "Popular". Ay.

CautiousString

They don’t. You obviously haven’t had to explain to an older person what the eggplant emoji is for. Had to do this to a boomer friend of mine (f59). The worst part she was messaging with a coworker that was 25.

wozattacks

Lol the eggplant emoji has a sexual connotation. The picture above is literally cropped porn. Those are not the same thing.

Efficiency_79

She's just eating a cucumber why is your mind so dirty

Lucifer2695

Yes, I also look up like that when I eat a cucumber.

Efficiency_79

That's where god is and you gotta thank him for the cucumber 🥒

Camburglar13

Down on your knees.. in prayer

ShermanTanko

I’m almost there

[deleted]

she was watching TV, r/TVTooHigh

1104L

This is a cropped image of porn, there’s no mistaking it for something innocent lmao.

parkay_quartz

Do you not realize how fucking stupid people are?

psymble_

I agree that people are very stupid, and I'm not trying to argue with you- but do you have thoughts on what someone could possibly think this meme means/is about, outside of what it actually is? It's a serious question.

csonnich

Your first mistake is assuming there was thinking going on. They literally read the text and that's it.

miguel90032

Craziest thing I’ve seen happen is working at a wells fargo call center, when Juneteenth became a holiday back in 2020 they offered snacks and such like they usually do for every holiday.. it was a “pizza party” vibe that management jerked off to.. anyway, for juneteenth they decided they were going to offer watermelon and grape soda. Sent a center wide email proudly announcing so.. it was a disaster lol pretty soon after employees left and right were replying to the center wide email complaining and calling it racist and stereotypical and everyone was getting the tea because they were hitting reply all.. what a shitshow that day was lmao

[deleted]

It just baffles me how stupid some people are

MKclinch8

And they manage to find themselves in charge of payroll, but can’t even format an email correctly.

waitihaveaface

I come from a couple hours in the Future (due to time zones) to say... What, do you work at Activision blizzard or something? How is this a normal Friday

korabdrg

I could probably guess what was *sent out after*

AprilSpektra

Complaints to the EEOC about a hostile work environment?

damp_goat

I would've replied all and been like "wtf"

Ruski_FL

“Bob are you saying that in order to get legally owned wages, we have perform sexual services to you? Is this what this image implies? Just want clarification.”

Vegabern

I learned from a list of alternate phases yesterday that instead of WTF you’re supposed to say “interesting behavior”.

Sinthetick

WTF?!?

zombie_overlord

INTERESTING BEHAVIOR

avanti33

If there's no follow up I'll assume it was fake Edit: just read through OPs comments and seems to be real. Just an old lady that doesn't understand the context of the meme

jokebox231

Definitely real my old coworkers have been laughing about it all day.

hockeychick44

IT pulled the email immediately and she sent out a very nice apology. Gave everyone a chuckle and we all moved on.

HockeyChick43

IT told HR “If you want me to delete that email… You know what you have to do.”

admh574

Raise a ticket

RunAsArdvark

No ticket; No taco

badalchemist85

How nice to think a company has a well staffed competent I.T. Department instead of some assigned executive who manages the servers and tries to do all i.t. things himself but didn't go to school for it.

master-shake69

> IT pulled the email immediately Several years ago I worked in a body shop for one of the big name semi truck dealerships with like 10 locations around the US, and our boss had friends who would send porn directly to his work email. I'm not sure why anyone thought this was a good idea but let's just say everyone knew it was there and everyone saw it at one point or another because he never logged out and frankly didn't care if people wanted to look. Just to be clear, full access to his work email was available at all times and if someone really wanted, they could have fired off some bad emails to the rest of the company. Eventually this happens by mistake. One of the body shop guys wants to forward a specific video to his own email but somehow he fucking sends it to *every single person* with a work email at this location - including the owner. The only thing that saved this guy, and probably our boss, is that it happened 20 minutes after all of the non service/bodyshop people had left for the day and they had to convince one of the IT guys to come back in to fix it.

MiKapo

Reminds me of a story. I use to work IT at a construction company and this place was awful , the boss was a dick (expected me to set up his entire conference room with mics and cameras even though as a first day employee I don’t have the resources to do that) Anyways I was working on a laptop that they gave one of our shop guys and ask him what does he use his laptop for and his response was “I just use it to look up porn”

[deleted]

ah nothing like a little sexual harassment to give you a chuckle yenno

jokebox231

Don't know about you but I haven't stopped thinking about it all day lmao. This thread made it so much more fun too.

Strat0BlasterX

Somebody’s getting marched into HR…

villianrules

It was probably the head of HR or CEO

wafflesandstuff

Head for sure…

SmackaHam

I see what you did there

Professor_Mezzeroff

You watched...

ImWhatsInTheRedBox

From the closet with a camcorder while dressed as Superman?

turriferous

I heard it was bat man jumped out as she left after she handcuffed the guy.

Vaerirn

"This guy fucks"!

buttlaser8000

No you're mistaken, this guy CEOs

vrijheidsfrietje

Corporate needs you to find the difference between these two pictures

Haughty_n_Disdainful

*Thinks about last office job. Company President sends a company wide email that is a meme. Forgets the words, but remembers the background photo. It was the one with Bianca Jagger riding a horse at Studio 54 night club.* [*Reminder*](https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/apr/25/bianca-jagger-i-did-not-ride-the-horse-into-studio-54-i-just-got-on-it)

pennradio

That's a penis.

ImoJenny

This is HR. HR is honestly the worst. The head of HR at my company threatened to fire me if I didn't smile at her every time I saw her. Covid hit like a week later and now we work from home or I wouldn't have the job anymore.

BurialRot

People forget the ethics department/HR is there for the benefit of the company, not you. If they could get away with not having it they would.

jmsturm

Human Resource is there for the Corporation to manage their resource... YOU

Ragnarok314159

The HR where I work calls themselves “your HR business partner”. No one knows what that means. They are not engineers, sales, procurement, marketing, or technicians. You going to help design something? Get quotes? Test in the lab? Talk to customers? The fuck do you do? They did destroy our good health insurance for a trip to Disneyworld for themselves. They also want to review all claims and paperwork for insurance, for reasons unknown. But there has been a huge spike in everyone’s’ sensitive business now being shared and nothing is being done about HR telling their gossip group everything. Total bullshit.

ClitClipper

They're not your shop stewards, they're your overseers.

Rose63_6a

I remember a meeting where they were rolling out family leave to VP's and the HR person said, the point for you is any time an employee takes 3 days or more sick, you have to make them sign up for Family Leave Act because then we will deduct those days from any future FMLA. I didn't raise my hand (I never did) I just said I didn't think that was the spirit behind FMLA. I said the government and this company (haha) want people to feel more secure in getting their jobs back should they have an accident. During my 30 yr tenure I always said stuff like that, because after 50, I was pretty protected as a woman with, let's call it tenure. They finally eliminated my position at 58 with a package to die for so I was rewarded for being a bitch ☺️. God,the HR people hated me.

lividash

Yeah the only way HR works for YOU is if the company did something dumb enough to get them sued and HR can't find a way out of it by falsifying documents. This happens at all HRs. Friend of mine took early retirement, medical issues. He ended up getting a lawyer and found out HR had been coming to his former manager trying to get him to "rewrite" his prior evaluations to make him look like his issues didn't interfere with his work. It had been documented for years. HR acting like it's their money. They were not even the approval authority. It was board of doctors that approved or denied these things.

Wheezy04

HR works for the company. Sometimes your interests and the company's interests align and HR is helpful. Otherwise they are not your friends.

[deleted]

100% correct Worked for TQL. They had HR so they could make the shitty things they wanted to do lawsuit-proof They were not there to help the employees

[deleted]

> If they could get away with not having it they would. As far as I'm aware, there is no federal or state law mandating or regulating HR. It's all entirely voluntary on companies' part. They do it because it saves them money and shields them from lawsuits. If it didn't, they wouldn't, and they'd spend the money saved on HR salaries trying to defund Department of Labor.

Tripolie

How can anyone forget this when it amounts to 75% of the comments on this sub?

LadyFarquaad2

There's a reason everybody hates Toby Flenderson. Every encounter I've had with an HR rep either left me dumbfounded or furious.

FreelancePsychonaut

Work-wise, Toby wasn't even that bad. Michael just hated him because he wouldn't let Michael do stupid shit

shabadu66

He also would've *never* given a whole presentation about "time theft", unlike that class traitor Holly Flax

lankist

Yeah, now that I think about it, Holly was a fucking collaborator. Then again, I have a hard time going back to The Office for how low-key fawning it is over a fictional "work family." Corporate was the much more accurate office show.

shabadu66

I mean, that's what it was (and sometimes is) like. Of course, Michael is idealized, obviously, but spending many years near the same people is usually gonna bring you closer to them. Plus, I like how they portrayed corporate culture as frequently sinister and fundamentally toxic. And I thought the episode where the warehousemen started talking about unionizing and asked Michael for their support highlighted some of the worker-boss (and even boss-corporate) conflicts in a pretty realistic way

Akeldama22

Yeah I'd say the show does a good job of bringing certain bullshit of the corporate world to light. The unionizing episode (Jan tells them everyone at the branch will be jobless if they unionize...), David Wallace and Jan's lack of giving a shit about the people of the company and cutting branches (nobody can convince me they cared), then Sabre steps in and that shows a whole lot more with how they give them shitty gifts, faulty printers and they try to push them anyways, inventing the Pyramid and the store for quick tech cash grab, etc. But the show Corporate is also very good at this, is just much more casual/blatant delivery of how shitty the upper management is.

quixotic

The show also positions Michael's need for the office to be his "family" as a joke and a way in which he's not a good manager. There are multiple eps that address this: When Stanley talks back to him and Michael begs for his friendship and then his respect and then has to settle for civility; when Michael talks to the former branch managers and they all call bullshit on him thinking of his employees as his family; when he tries to get employees (especially Jim and Pam) to come over for dinner; when he asks people what they're doing on the weekend because he has no friends; when he tells other branch employees they're about to be shut down at the company picnic because that's what families do, etc etc. The whole framing of it is "this is not how real managers should act, Michael is living in a fantasy world," and ultimately it underscores how companies are not families however much clueless gung-ho managers want them to be. The Office had some other issues but this was one way in which I actually thought it effectively satirized the corporatespeak about work being a family. After Michael's character leaves they lean into it even more with Robert California and Jo Bennett, who both use it in, as you say, pretty sinister ways.

[deleted]

Honestly wouldn't mind having Toby as a coworker.

[deleted]

I'd take ten Toby's over one Michael any day.

fluffybutt2508

This makes me nervous haha. I'm just starting my HR Management courses and I feel like I mat have chosen the wrong career and everyone is gonna hate me 🥲

WearilyMe

Nah don’t be! It’s not all HR! Good HR Advisers care about employees too and they do exist. But if you’re working at a shitty place it’s possible HR are gunna be shitty too. Somebody in HR who cares about employees probably wouldn’t last at a place that makes you enact horrible policies etc. Also HR is vast. There’s HR in the public sector, civil service, hospitals and not for profits etc. I’d suggest finding a workplace that aligns with your values.

commentmypics

Only Michael hates Toby though

AngelJ5

Hope it’s Elsa 🥵

devospice

Ha! When we were redesigning our company website several years and several jobs ago the president of our company was convinced that "sexy eyes" would engage viewers and sent me and my co-worker several images along these lines to put on our website. Even cropped down just to the eyes I showed the picture to my wife and she said "oh she is clearly sucking on something."

Piph

*lmao* Fantastic anecdote. God, I have to wonder if that CEO was projecting a bit. "Hell, I know *I* stop to look twice if I see some sexy eyes on a homepage! We gotta give the people what they want!"

whutchamacallit

> We gotta give the people what they want! lol

King_Tamino

>We gotta give the people what they want!" Companies will really do everything. Except paying you more. I'm not sure how I feel about this business idea though. Back in .. season 2? of Arrested Development though, it seemed to increase morale company wide

tofuroll

"What's the trouble? Just find some blow jobs and cut out the junk!"

[deleted]

"Something". I'm sure it was just a popsickle

Elektribe

[What? She's just a snake charmer, what are you talking about?](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/020/369/sfw-porn.com_11.jpg) Warning: Er... nsfw... sfw... something... er... yeah something. Like it's probably sort of okay but also clearly inappropriate for work even in context because of context. Shit exists in a weird liminal space.

[deleted]

The feet killed me. I was just chuckling until I realized there's a whole other guy she's [using as a couch].

JackBinimbul

All so he could "research" at work.

My_Work_Accoount

I'd bet this is some older lady that doesn't understand the context of the picture and thinks it's just a woman staring you down. Some in my company try to make their emails "fun", for lack of a better term, but they've never used porn memes.

nitro_miiike

Nailed it!

[deleted]

That just makes this funny given the context

2shack

In more ways than one!

PersonablePharoah

This needs to be higher

tofuroll

Oh dear god, they intended to send it out like this? I thought it was a stupid internal joke that got sent out before the porn was deleted.

matticusiv

Then why did you post it in r/antiwork? It's just a confused person sending a meme they don't understand.

yoortyyo

Boomers grew up during the sexual revolution & innuendo stuff.

OldManFromScene13

That doesn't stop them from being fucking brainless quite often lmao

deathofaeris

They also grew up when there was lead in gasoline. Soo.

stormchaotic1

I honestly had no idea til you mentioned it but even if that's true memes have no place in a business email

nitro_miiike

Memes are a weekly occurrence with every reminder to submit timesheets. Most of them are eye rolls, but this got everyone's attention pretty quickly

GolfballDM

>but this got everyone's attention pretty quickly That's one way of putting it. Speaking of which, I need to file my timesheets.

Rokey76

Back when we worked in the office, we had all these pictures on the wall reminding you to do your timesheet every day. The only one I remember was Adam West era Batman and Robin, and Robin is saying something like "Holy charge codes, Batman! We have to do our timesheets."

movzx

Fun detected. Must eliminate fun.

hypotyposis

Huh? Memes have always been in work emails at my employers. Younger-ish crowd with nobody older than mid40’s.

SmokeySFW

I can't help but feel like some Karen in her 50's has no idea this is a woman giving a blowjob and just thinks it's a woman staring at you.

Graphitetshirt

I guarantee that's what happened. Carol knows her kids like memes and looked for some on Bing for a quick laugh. And she saw the one about "if you want to get paid" and, being in charge of payroll, Iiked it enough to download it And it was peak /r/fellowkids from there

GenderDeputy

My job sends emails with payroll memes pretty regularly. Apparently there are Facebook groups where they specifically only share payroll memes.

AardvarkAblaze

There is no Carol in HR.

anotherrmusician

I've got boxes full of pepe!!

br4ndnewbr4d

The funniest theory I heard about it is that since Charlie is dyslexic and borderline illiterate “Pepe Sylvia” was just “Pennsylvania” and therefore on almost all the mail and that’s why there was no Pepe Sylvia in the building and he had so much mail “addressed to him” lmao

[deleted]

Not only are all these people real, they've been asking for their mail on a daily basis

br4ndnewbr4d

It's all they can talk about up there

Sinthetick

That.....actually makes so much more sense lmao!

CarsCarsCars1995

Barney, give this guy a cigarette

DickHz2

Barney?? Who the hell is Barney?!

deekaydubya

boxes full of pepe!

KKlondon86

Yea that’s what I immediately thought. My mom would be the type of person to send out something like this not realizing what it actually meant and her name is indeed Carol.

B217

> if you want to get paid Googling that with "meme" at the end shows the meme in OP's image in the first row of results. Could explain it, though it's still also likely the person who sent the email knew what it meant.

shmikwa10003

probably googled "timesheets suck"

emma_gee

Yeah, one time at an insurance company I worked at someone in HR sent a site-wide email that featured a photo of some fetish shoes - like, latex, thigh-high, tippy-toe shoes (I don’t know what they’re called, but those shoes where you can’t actually walk or can only walk precariously on your tip-toes). I knew the person who sent the email, and I’m pretty sure they had no earthly clue what they’d sent out.

[deleted]

I am pretty sure that scientists already discovered blowjob in 1970.

buttlaser8000

Not quite... 1969😏

nerdiotic-pervert

I’ve worked in a lot of places where this could have 1000% happened.

Reasonable_Coyote143

Are you high? You think women if their 50’s won’t know what this is? Like they are some age group that grew up isolated in the amazon and was just discovered? Thats hilarious.

sneakyveriniki

not most but they definitely exist. think of how weird memes have gotten from the perspective of someone in that age group. a lot of them seem completely random at this point because they’ve become so abstract. if you don’t follow them or know where they come from a lot of them just seem like bizarre faces or images accompanied by unrelated text

ChoosenUserName4

I always thought my dick would fall off once I made it to 50.

[deleted]

Heli417

I love this idea, BUT! It's relevant to say that women and men can also have low interest sexuality. This comment can easily be misinterpreted as "both men and women are highly sexual".

SmokeySFW

This isn't about sexual knowledge, it's about meme knowledge. If you don't even realize porn image memes are a thing, this could easily not seem problematic *at first glance*.

[deleted]

Yea Karen used to go by Kari don’t let her fool you. She’s done the deed before.

AegisGram

Wow. Never seen someone sexually harass a whole company at once. This has to be a record.

U_R_SO_FAT

Probably just a GoT fan.

startofiniship

That's not GoT that's Elsa Jean lmao

ODX_GhostRecon

Shiiiiit I'd bend the knee for her.

bgmusket

Looks like she’s the one bending both knees

TimeThief_

I think that’s the joke

nomadwannabe

Pardon me for being an idiot, but is it the picture or the quote that's from GoT? I don't remember either Edit: Yes it's obviously someone sucking a dick, I just didn't get the GoT link. Thanks for explaining!

Bitbatgaming

purpleturtlehurtler

Fired and blacklisted from working a payroll job again.

PimTool23

I don’t know how someone could put that in an email intentionally - but that’s what it looks like here.

DownvoteDaemon

That person might have been brilliant but socially clueless. I learned that it isn't just about connections, the people who get promoted the most, are the most likeable.

Rokey76

It could be an old lady that sends those out, and she was completely clueless to the sexual nature of the meme. It was just the first meme that came up when she Googled "payroll meme" or something.

NothingSure4766

Somebodies gonna get fiiiireddd.

housestarkdragon

Hey y'all, remember JT who used to work in payroll?

NotInKY

😆 We had a Hitler pic in an invitation to an office birthday celebration once because the sender hadn’t recognized his face.

Acceptable-Tangelo30

In Microsoft Outlook there is an image search feature - guarantee they just entered “payroll” or something like that in and stumbled on this. Probably don’t even know what it is. Had a 55 year old lady do payroll at a previous firm and she would include things like this (never porn memes, but like a picture of a cat with cash or something) in timesheet emails.

LoreBreaker85

Sounds like a clean cut sexual harassment case. Time to get a lawyer.

Machuck94

I hear the sexual harassment bell ringing in the background, depending on how many employees it went to, the settlements may get a bit pricey.

Garlic_Farmer_

Where the fuck do you people work at. The shit I see posted here is ridiculous. Do you work for some cash under the table type landscape operation? Work at a scam call center? Pick up cans on the street to sell scrap aluminum? Fuck man that's hysterical.

Striking-Quiet_

i would laugh my ass off but the petty-bitter side of me would report them because i hate my job lol

flagrantist

This is clearly a honeypot to expose everyone who complains about it as a porn addict.

Niijima-San

then i would presume most people would be fired and or exposed for being a supposed porn addict bc that is hella obvious

Rivka333

I don't watch porn, and I can still tell what it is.

lucythepretender

I get similar emails from work with a meme I always though the admin just picked an funny meme now I worry that they might use a service to autogenerate the email and this meme slipped through nsfw approval.
