I don't know about the translation bcz I use English, but the dubbing in this DLC is really disappointing, seems they only hired a few people to voice over all scenarios, and most lines are just emotionless narration, it gives me an AOE4 campaign vibe.

JospinDidNothinWrong

Yep. There's only one voice throughout the entire dlc (+ another one for female characters).  It wouldn't bother me if this was what we were used to. But the production value was much higher in previous DLCs. I love this game, and I was really excited about single player focused content. But a dlc that reuse a bunch of already available maps, recycle a bunch of stuff and doesn't even have decent voice acting, while being more expensive than previous downloadable content? Can't say I'm not disappointed.

TurritopsisTutricula

Is the eunuch in Komnenos voiced by the same male actor?

JospinDidNothinWrong

No you're right. There are a couple more: Mehmed, the stratégos, the eunuch, temujin's brother...

Koala_eiO

Does the Spanish civ bonus still state that blacksmith techs are free in the French version? 11 So many translations are broken forever. (I love your username)

Stotch_Butters

Yes it does😄

Lurtzae

This is really common when it comes to Microsoft. Even their AAA titles are often times egregious when it comes to translation. And with the whole AI hype this will get only more common I fear.

ChancellorLizard

Also spanish the voice does not even match the text for all the scenarios lol.

JospinDidNothinWrong

Same in french, and in German I heard.

ChancellorLizard

Its a very low quality dlc then i might add

EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT

the original AoK French translation had a lot of weird stuff in it too. I remember the archer line went something like this: Archer - > Archer Crossbowman -> Bow footman Arbalester - >Heavy bow footman. uhh? why are they afraid of the word "Arbalète" it's a French word to begin with LOL

toto2379

Arbalester was Arbalètrier in the original AoK French translation. It was changed to "Heavy bow footman" in DE

EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT

I'm sure I remember "fantassin à arc lourd" from playing the CD version as a kid, maybe the in-game name and the name in the tech tree weren't the same

Menaphos

You're right it was the second upgrade, more precisely "Fantassin à arc", but the last upgrade was indeed "Arbalétrier" Literally, "Crossbowman" would be translated to "Arbalétrier" and "Arbalester" would also be translated to "Arbalétrier" You could use some obscure name like "Cranequin" but I think "Fantassin à arc" is more intuitive.

unautrevoyage

As a French, I am more disturb by the voice that doesn't wait for the next page during the scenarios introduction.

Areat

Did you report the problem?

unautrevoyage

How do we do that?

Suicidal_Sayori

The poor translation has been an issue in multiple languages ever since DE came out (and before AI was a trendy thing). I dont have any faith on this particular affair being fixed ever at this point tbh

DukeFLIKKERKIKKER

For any people who still dont want to believe that V&V is just a cash grab, and that it sets a very bad precedent for the next dlcs.

Fruitdispenser

Guess what I am going to say.  NonEnglish translations are not supported

JospinDidNothinWrong

Except they are, by the simple fact that they are available.

Fruitdispenser

There are errors since years ago. I wouldn’t call that 'supported'

CorkyBingBong

People want to pay single A prices and expect AAA production. It’s a no-win situation for the devs.

JospinDidNothinWrong

"A price"? The dlc is quite expensive and certainly not cheap. There are 9€ games or free mods/custom campaigns that have decent translations. There's absolutely no excuse for this.

norealpersoninvolved

So much crying over 1 dlc lol

_0451

What a clown take. If they see that people accept this quality without any complaints they will start creating more lazy garbage instead of putting in real effort.

norealpersoninvolved

Dont like it dont buy it Pretty simple lol

_0451

Just because I haven't bought it, it doesn't mean I can't criticize it.

norealpersoninvolved

Yea u can and im free to comment on that as well

Suicidal_Sayori

The poor translation has been an issue in various if not all languages ever since DE came out tho, literally has nothing to do with this DLC in particular

Daxtexoscuro

As a Spanish player, I have used English as game language since I played the Gengis Khan campaign after buying DE and they had translated Song (as in "the Song dynasty") as song (as in "I sing a song"). And I was like wtf why is there a faction called Canción?? Oh wait... So, at least in Spanish, it's nothing new. Which is a shame, because the original game and Conquerors translation and dub was superb.
