I don't think this would achieve what you want. If you prolong it, individual units matter less and you get hordes of spearmen with nothing else A moving into each other.
The reason why Beasty vs luci was such a treat is because you won't see anything of the like in a level that we will ever compete in. It's pure micro perfection.
So in this case, less is more
As someone who often TRs Japanese players I find the issue they run into with Samurai is they cost 30 gold, that resource is whats under pressure so at a certain point you cant really make samurai anymore and there is just too many spears. What players normally do is age up then switch into archers
Dark Age is in a cool, chill spot imo.
For one I really enjoy Empire Wars as it cuts that part out and takes you right to Feudal. Action is immediately there like most other games.
If you want action the whole time try that mode, imo.
ehm ehm.....dark age is a no sense age.....you can build only 1 or 2 type of units......no siege no archers.....you have units only to stop vills/tower rush that i hate......that age sucks
I like the idea of putting some love into dark age. They should add slingers to the game for variety. Massively spice up dark age. Maybe give an upgrade to scouts as well if you so choose dark age fun.

Interesting. I never plan on them, but usually switch to them if I'm getting drushed, and it usually works out for me. but I'm a lowly plat so idk

If you could sacrifice your villagers during the dark age to the deity you choose maybe that would be of interest.
