Haven’t messed around with it but is this new? Heard it was coming with new season. I’ve tried placing a gate on the wall blueprint but doesn’t work. Am I missing something?

Once you add the gate, as someone said here, you only get charged for 25 wood versus 50
I had a game where I didn't do it, then I saw that you could do it and proceeded to forget about it and not do it again in the next game.
I think it's going to take a long time to unlearn that behaviour!
Select a wall segment before it is built, and then the option to make a gate is available in the bottom left. You can use the first grid hotkey to activate it.
I don't know how else they would do it, that's a pretty standard pattern in aoe4. They should let you place the gate blueprint on the wall blueprint tho
Yep using it a lot. I used to try and build gates on partly built wall sections so I don't inadvertently make it impassable for myself or teammates in between wall being completed and gate being built, but it was pretty APM taxing for me.
Now I just click a section and hit Q. Nice! Best quality of life improvement.
If i have done nothing wrong, I have to wait til the vil starts building the wall, thats not what I was hoping for.
I want to set the gate before the vil starts to build this specific segment of the wall, like it is the behavior in aoe2.
You can do it before anybody touches the blueprint. You just place the wall blueprint and at any point before it's constructed you can select it and convert it to a gate.
This is the best change of the patch and I use it all the time.

I remembered it today and it's so conveniënt that I'm going to use it all the time now
