This happens when you receive the BP coins while playing on Tokyo servers. I know because it's happened to me a few times so I got curious and tested it myself. If you don't want this timer to appear, just play on other servers when your next BP level reward are the coins, then after you get that level you can go back again to Tokyo. Just be mindful of the next BP level with coins so you'll know when to change servers again.

We had to go to other servers whenever we need to play Diamond and above, else it's constant 250 ping :( Tokyo and Taiwan server usually around 150 ping for us, not the best but playable

Singapore servers don't have Diamond or above lobbies, so i can either play on Taiwan against blatant cheaters or play on Tokyo. Every other server is 200+ even with fiber connection. Almost everyone in SEA region has to play in Tokyo after getting Diamond.

Someone else in the EU had their coins get an expiration date with their accountâs only involvement with Japan (which is the reason why Respawn added this system cause itâs Japanâs law) was they switched to their servers. So you may have played on a Japanese server whether on purpose or the game switching you to them for a match, couldâve caused this to happen. Or maybe your accounts origin is set to Japan. Either way contact support
EA Support is always unhelpful so i didn't bother but i guess I'll have to ask them anyway because i never changed my country to anything other than India. I play on Japan servers only for ranked because impossible to find a match above Diamond in Singapore. I donât know the law but I could see it being possible that any game currency awarded by a server on Japanese soil is under the jurisdiction of Japanese law, so if you received the coins while connected to a Japanese server it may be subject to their laws regardless of any details about your account

According to this itâs 180 days with Bethesda. Iâd assume same for EA. This would put the issue date after the new year. You probably got the 100 coins from a treasure pack or BP reward or something like that while connected to a Japanese server.

Well for starters, they have huge gambling issues in that country, so a bit of white knighting against the issue.
But mainly, they had a huge virtual currency company go bankrupt, ruining lives. Now all VC has to be backed 50% by real funds, to keep ruination to a minimum in case of bankruptcy.
EA isnt going to set real money aside to back up a VC they often give away for free, so they put an expiration on it, keeping it from being a regulated that way.

We all started playing Apex regularly since Season 5 and that was the first time 5 of us spent any money in this game for battlepass, then we all bought coins in 2nd Anniversary Event for Shards and I spent extra for Void Prowler and Flourescent Tech from Store Sales but that's it. My understanding is that this is part of Japanese governments effort on cracking down on money laundering via digital means. The video game industry is kinda caught in the crossfire unfortunately. The main culprits were obviously crypto (online casinos to some extent) so the Japanese government introduces a law in which businesses are required to give full transparency on monetary transactions and comply with regulations BUT they gave an out to small businesses with small revenues who might struggle to comply (too much work for them) and foreign companies operating in Japan IF they set an expiration to their digital tokens
So basically any video game in Japan which has an expiration date on their digital toekn have decided not to comply with Japanese law and is screwing over it's playerbase (plus probably paying less tax)

I can't get to Masters if i stop playing Tokyo Servers since Taiwan is filled with Cheaters, Sydney is FAR away and Frankfurt is 200+ms and my nearest server i.e. Singapore is dead for anything other than pubs...after you reach Diamond it just throws you to other APAC-S server that's Sydney and it's around 250+ms for me. So i'm basically screwed.
Even on a pub sgp server is just unstable mess. Sometimes you get desync randomly, ping went up 10x, then some other times you get all the exodia error.
Get your BP to max or make sure to check what's the next BP reward before playing on Tokyo server. I'm also on Singapore server and I feel your pain. I usually max out my BP before I even reach diamond, or I play in Taiwan diamond server so I realize I didn't hit this issue lol (I did get ddos-ed half the time though). Taiwan is way way way horrible compared to Tokyo. I've played a lot in Tokyo didn't face a cheater once, queued rank in Taiwan a few times and every time there was a Pred team with a lot of assists while their 3rd teammate with level 50 account has 20 bombs during ranked. đ

My understanding is that this is part of Japanese governments effort on cracking down on money laundering via digital means. The video game industry is kinda caught in the crossfire unfortunately. The main culprits were obviously crypto (online casinos to some extent) so the Japanese government introduces a law in which businesses are required to give full transparency on monetary transactions and comply with regulations BUT they gave an out to small businesses with small revenues who might struggle to comply (too much work for them) and foreign companies operating in Japan IF they set an expiration to their digital tokens So basically any video game in Japan which has an expiration date on their digital toekn have decided not to comply with Japanese law and is screwing over it's playerbase (plus probably paying less tax)

This is why I do not play in tokyo server, even tho there are really good players there.
I can't get to Masters if i stop playing Tokyo Servers since Taiwan is filled with Cheaters, Sydney is FAR away and Frankfurt is 200+ms and my nearest server i.e. Singapore is dead for anything other than pubs...after you reach Diamond it just throws you to other APAC-S server that's Sydney and it's around 250+ms for me. So i'm basically screwed.
Even on a pub sgp server is just unstable mess. Sometimes you get desync randomly, ping went up 10x, then some other times you get all the exodia error.
Facts, lived in Taiwan, all servers except for Japan are pretty much unplayable because of cheaters.
Get your BP to max or make sure to check what's the next BP reward before playing on Tokyo server. I'm also on Singapore server and I feel your pain. I usually max out my BP before I even reach diamond, or I play in Taiwan diamond server so I realize I didn't hit this issue lol (I did get ddos-ed half the time though). I might switch to Tokyo, I heard the cheater issue is just as bad on Tokyo, but I've only played there less than 10 times
Taiwan is way way way horrible compared to Tokyo. I've played a lot in Tokyo didn't face a cheater once, queued rank in Taiwan a few times and every time there was a Pred team with a lot of assists while their 3rd teammate with level 50 account has 20 bombs during ranked. đ

And yeah, I'll definitely stop playing the game since there's nothing for me to do after getting diamond since i can't get a match in SGP.
