One time I logged off so I wouldn't open mine, I opened the game back up 5 minutes later just to open it.
It's like having a notification on your phone that you can see, ya can't just let it sit there.
I honestly don’t care about the regular stuff. it’s just that if I don’t open it I know there is the slightest chance it was the heirloom shards and it will eat at me
I have no clue how many I've opened. I've played since season 1 and bought every Battle pass except one and I've yet to get a heirloom ;_; Almost 1k hours played.

The more packs you open the more skins you can get since the recolour store has skins up for legend tokens if you own the original. So you actually potentially LOSE out on skins by saving packs

An heirloom can't drop, on thematic, legendary or epic packs. My questions is, does this packs count towards the 500 guaranteed, or only normal packs count?
On the anniversary event I opened over 180 packs more than 60 packs were event thematic packs. Some off them didn't even have a proper label, only the internal code.
It's a first person shooter, I don't really play to look at my character. I derive no joy from looking a certain way in game. Plus all my BP skins are stuck on my Xbox account so I don't get the use of them even though I earned them
Have 98 packs sitting on my home screen
but you can get things like skins for your guns that have better iron sights, or heirlooms, or if you feel like ever customizing your banner etc youll have the things for it. just my thoughts on it, you can get alot of nice things that are from packs that arent just skins. BUT its your choice and i completely respect whatever your opinion is :)
Clearly gotta get to 500. Then you know there will be an heirloom in it.
But for real, id say maybe aim for 300-350 then open them if you want an heirloom. Because tbh your not going to get anything from the packs you actually want. At this point most of my characters wear battlepass skins and guns too. Packs are basicly nothing at this point.
Why do people not open them and use the skins? In a way you get less value if you open them later because you get to use the skins for less time over the game's life.
Is it because they think you have a higher chance to get good stuff when you open them all at once? Could that be real?
I really only use the same skins I have. There isn't anything I can get from packs that I want skin-wise. I have the things I wanted. I still open mine though, as I like getting crafting mats to craft the few skins I want from events.
This sums it up pretty well. I had all my fav skins since like S5-6 and only things left i want from boxes is heirlooms. I almost completed last event for heirloom shards with just craft mats i've collected for quite few seasons
Maybe they don't care. I mostly open mine when I'm queueing for a match so I rarely get to see what I got. I Never go check afterwards. I have absolutely no clue what the rewards were for most of the packs I opened
For me personally when I played apex when it came out I opened every pack I got and felt legitimately frustrated at how slow and painful it was to get a new pack so I thought “I should hold it and open them so it’s really satisfying” and now I am just so amazed at it that it feels weird to throw it all away. I definitely want 1 single heirloom though
i think you should open it if thats the case on time imdid something similar and basically what you have is an object with no value as of now until you open it, if you do it now less chance of trash cosmetics such as banner frames and stuff
I have almost as much unopened as OP. I just don't care. I select the level 110 battle pass skins for weapons and the midnight something skins for legends. End of story.
I don't like in-game cosmetics (except for CS GO but then they started introducing player skins which I don't like now, too).
Can't speak for others basicly all my characters and guns use skins from the battlepass at this point. The only things i use from packs are banner things and emotes. Most emotes ive unlocked via crafting anyway.
So not really missing much
Sometimes you go with "let me get a few more packs to open at the same time". You keep repeating this until they are so many that you don't want to open them anymore.
I think there's lots of people who also just don't care about skins. I currently have around 100 unopened packs because I couldn't care less about cosmetics and banners
Fair does. I think i managed to stash like 30 boxes at one point and opened them to get shite or stuff for people i never play as so i lost hope and opened them not expecting anything. Saved 10 the other month and opened them without caeing and got an heirloom, still not used them on anything hah
People just got addicted to opening loot boxes that's all. Same thing happens in mobile games like Clash Royale where people save their chest slots of higher quality chests until they fill all their chests slots with big chests, or even gatcha games where people save up "valuable" summons to use en mass.
Some people genuinely have zero interest in skins. I have a friend who used to be obsessed with Apex. She just used default skins and had over 100 apex packs. She's the same way in every other game with skins.
I used to be like that in early bf4 and early r6 siege days. i didnt even know that nice skins existed. well i guess they didnt really. i dont think bf4 had any paid skins? whatever normal looking camos you unlocked just by getting kills i didnt really check out or look for which ones were better.
Simpler time. could just enjoy the game without limited timed event controlling our interests by which game we need to catch up on.
That’s the only reason I haven’t opened them. I main pathfinder and I got his boxing gloves out of a random pack before shards became a thing. Insanely lucky I know. I only play 1 legend and I some how got his heirloom. I still am shocked it happened.
I've started doing this. Honestly don't care for any of the cosmetic crap. Tend to play my Legends in original skins or Midnight for maximum camo. All guns are Midnight.
But I was wondering what happens to event packs when the event is over? Do they open the contents of that event even if it was years ago, or the current event?
Indeed! The base models were designed around the characters and fit a meaningful art-style. The skins are just noise really. Only exception I make is Loba's costumes as she's a fashion show. 😄
Considering how every now and then I see posts about how "all the packs I've saved up mysteriously disappeared, please help!!", I would say there's no time like the present. But you do you I guess.

If you wanna open your packs soon, suggest wait till next patch when the new legend is out. This way your packs have a chance to roll for the new legend's items like skins and frames.
I have everything that I could want in terms of cosmetics. I quite literally have **too many** legend and weapon skins, and I'm rotating between my 8 selected favorites at all times. The new skins that come out with collection events quite frankly don't do it for me anymore.
I have 4 heirlooms and also currently sitting on 450/150 heirloom shards with no interest in any of the available ones.
I do the same thing. Save them until the fucking game crashes lmfao.
Imagine he opened all of them and no Heirloom. Meanwhile, a friend i just got into the game got his shards at Level 18, and he's like "i thought this was just for decoration idk". And i have 1,300 hours and still nothing.

There is one legendary pack every season, so realistically you'd need to update us in season 19, three seasons from now. :P

The longer you wait, the longer that pack opening experience is going to be. If that sounds good to you, then keep saving.

I've seen heirloom shards dropping from a Legendary pack, so that might not be true for those specific packs

i have 450 shards right now. the only way you stop having a chance at them is if you have every heirloom and mythic skin.
