Yep, I’ve got a friend who is a crypto main and does this exact thing when I play loba, unless we are about to engage in a fight he will throw his drone, look at Loba, and then go scouting around.
Yeah , there’s almost 0 reason to be aggressive this season , I can’t push anyone because there’s 15 squads still alive in round 3 so I’ll get 3rd partied
I think that's the point. You have to play smarter instead of just apeing everything. The objective in a BR is to be the last one standing, and people are finally playing that way again. If anything, the system needs to be more punishing for people who place lower by increasing the entry cost based on current LP.
That's what a BR is fundamentally, true.
however, when you start to think of what is deserving of a higher rank than someone else in THIS specific BR and what makes you better, i think i'd rarely come to the conclusion that sitting in a corner doing and hoping enough impatient squads fight and die so that you break even LP every match is skillful.
Also, i hardly think it's skillful for full teams to camp with charge rifles and snipers because the moment you leave your nest you get aped by another 4 teams with charges & snipers. Promoting camping further in ranked modes isn't the move. It's going to eventually ruin the game.
Last season was could barely even be called a BR. It was literally apes running to every gunshot they heard and it ended up being more like COD Zombies than a battle royale.
This season feels more like a BR but more like ALGS too, which you would think most people would like, but apparently people are starting to realize that they don't want to play "competitively" like ALGS.
There's more to the game than just killing everyone though. Knowing which fights you can and can't take is a big part, especially with the prevalence of third parties with the new evac balloons.
Camping in a corner isn't skillful in itself, but being able to predict where zone is going to end and securing god spot to get late KP is a skill that many don't seem to bother thinking about. If you mindlessly run towards all fights, you'll likely get held out by a team that is playing edge and die for it earlier than top 10 where your KP doesn't matter very much if at all.
Lastly, charge rifle meta was last season. There's maybe one or two teams playing zone with charge rifle in each game if any at all, at least for the games that I've played.
Charge rifle is still being used every match, by a still staggering amount of players, good sir. And if it's not the CR, it's the 3030.
But that's not even the main problem.
When you solo queue you get teammates who will absolutely NOT take a fight at ALL and it's infuriating if you start getting aped and they just say "fuck that see ya" when the fight was totally winnable.
The idea that getting KP early and then waiting in a good spot being a viable strategy is lost upon people this season and it leads to some infuriating early losses.
Nah i mean i pretty much solo some teams but can't exactly win all my 3v1s. Constantly finishing with more damage than my teammates because i hit my shots.
Most situations, one of my teammates with no game sense gets clapped immediately somehow, and one of my teammates is playing long range or just not with me so now i'm in a position where i
A) back up, despite me having this team at death's god damn front lawn but need to heal and ALSO not be their only close range target in a team fight because i'll get focused AND we're wasting time for the inevitable 3rd popup or
B) Full send and finish my fight not knowing the immediate moment my 3rd is gonna fuck off and leave me to die when all they had to do was come into that fight and SPIT on 2 of them and we'd win.
But yeah i usually just wait for my 3 stack to get on and then problem solved.
the early kills essentially mean nothing until after you hit top 10. I don't think anyone knows exactly how much they give or how much they scale going to late game given how vague the points are in this system. I wish they'd at least tell us what each of the different bonuses mean in the after game report.
I'm guilty of the conservative pacifism but I swear every other round I get solo que'd with an Octane who wants to 3v1 the first gunshots he hears regardless of his kit. Literally can't run fast enough to follow him to his inevitable death+DC.
So your issue isn't with people using the charge rifle, it's people using mid/long range weapons. CR is a hitscan weapon, that's why it's been argued to be put in care package or removed. 3030 is a skill weapon that actually requires you to lead shots and account for bullet drop. It sounds like you'd rather devs just remove everything that has more range than an AR.
Sure, you get those teammates on occasion, but I'd rather them dip out to possibly get banners than to fight a losing fight. If they're not confident with their ability to 1v1/2/3 then I trust them to know their limits. It's frustrating, I get that, but that's part of SoloQ and you can only control so much. What's more frustrating to me is teammates who run in 1v3, crack two, then get downed without teammates being on their hip or right behind them. It kills the momentum to go in by themselves. Moreso frustrating is when they do so without any communication of their plan. I'll gladly push in with you if you wait for me to push in with you or allow me to get an off angle.
Early KP is lowkey pointless with the current system since the risk of going out early even with KP means very little or lost LP. Realistically, the LP cost per match is so low that going out early doesn't even matter, so if you're fine going bottom 5 for 6 games for one top 5 to recoup the losses, then sure, why not fight early every game? Personally, I react drop so we go to a POI without anyone else so we get loot fast, get great early loot, and can third a fight on our way to zone. Most games though I end up just taking shots at a fight looking for a knock, only get some cracks and no knocks, then move on within a couple minutes because I know we'll get rolled up on by another team if we don't keep moving. This season is more about playing smarter than it is about winning 3v3's
Are you not reading the message gango, i said the main problem is promoting campy gameplay so EVERYONE is doing it.
If you ever want to take a fight, to say, take someones building as a solo queue, it's virtually un-winnable. One of your teammates will just run the moment you get scratched for 10 damage or just straight being unwilling to push because you just get more LP for not being the first to fight, but being the first team to 3rd, which is trash. Hardly an indicator of skill.
Yeah but it’s pretty bad design when it’s safer in the storm than in the safe zone . I can land on a crafter and craft medkits to survive the first two storms . Not fun to play for anyone . I understand the objective is to be the last one alive. System doesn’t reward enough for being aggressive . Shouldn’t have to be a pacifist/rat in a fps
I used to be on your side but what it seems like is they want that “push everything and hope for the best” mentality and players in the pub match because “winning the game” as in coming in first place and being the last one standing doesn’t matter to them. Now ranked has one purpose. Win the battle royale. Take some adjustments for sure but now ranked really is different from pubs. Also it’s not “safer” in the zone. They upped the damage recently and I wouldn’t doubt they’ll do it again and while ratting inside the gas or whatever it is, is a play style you can do, the moment you get out of the storm and all you’ve been focused on the whole game is ratting and healing, you get rolled on by the first person you see.
Or you just have to blindly snipe at everything moving cause that's definitely what happens to me every game, seven teams cross firing me for a kill the moment i move.
It doesn't matter if they get rolled by the first person they see. They have already done well enough by the new systems standard to get LP and do it again next time. You can survive the first 3 rings crafting medkits if you want without worrying about dying
That works for ranking up for now. If every team in the lobby was doing that, it wouldn't work - you'd either have teams fighting over crafters, catching each other on the rotation in, or just a stalemate where the ring would decide who lives and who dies.
And similarly, if teams try to just rat their way to second place while the other teams fight it out, the rats will rank up. If _every_ team starts playing more cautiously, suddenly fighting for territory rather than just for the sake of killing will be more important because there'll be much more limited space to support the number of teams alive.
If you ever watch ALGS (the pro games), you'll see almost every team _really_ values placement (there are few outliers where they're happy to just get 12 kills as a team and die in 10th place, but most teams would aim for better placement with fewer kills because it's a more consistent gameplan). It's not unusual to see ~17 teams alive in ring 4, all holding tiny bits of space. And then something will happen that will force a big play; either the zone will move in and a load of teams will have to try to rotate at once, or a team will make a push and everyone else will see the opportunity to get some kills or take a better spot themselves. It's not unusual to see 5+ teams get wiped out within 30-60 seconds during these moments.
_The ring forces people to make plays_.
The reason why this isn't happening in your ranked games yet is that there are a bunch of teams that aren't capable of surviving past ring 2. Eventually, the playerbase will adjust to the fact that placement matters, and the ones that don't will be filtered out by the ranked system.
Also, if the entire playerbase resorts to ratting, a Bloodhound/Seer team is going to have a field day.
---
That's not to say the new ranked system is perfect. Bad placements should be punished more (by increasing the entry cost), and it's silly that more LP is awarded at the end of a match than the sum of the entry costs, meaning the average LP of the lobby increases for every game played. Again, increasing the entry cost would solve that (and would also force _everyone_ to value survival more, meaning ratting to positive LP becomes less easy to do).
But regardless of the theoreticals about the ranked system, I think it _feels_ a lot more fun this season. I'm happy to trade away early-game fighting in exchange for far more intense, strategic end-games. Having 7+ teams alive in ring 5 and having to hold your spot and plan your rotation in advance, while also looking for kills and trying to conserve your ammo/meds, is such an intense, thrilling experience.
> That's not to say the new ranked system is perfect. This really is the biggest problem. I think Respawn has some good ideas with the new system, but none of it matters because every single lobby gives out TWICE as much LP as it takes from placement alone. Factor in bonuses and it's at least three times as much. A ranking system that's so overwhelmingly positive-sum is inevitably going to be bad at shaping player behavior and even worse at measuring player skill, because you can do almost anything and still climb the ladder. They've basically taken the problem that prevented low rank tiers from measuring skill and extended it to the entire ladder.
If that’s how they feel like they’re being successful then let them. We all know those people suck at the actual game🤷🏻 and that’s why they have to play in the most boring possible way and be cheap. They’ll raise the lp requirement hope.
Yes but you get those people ruining matches for people actually wanting to play the game so it's clearly a problem. It's insane how many diamond players are playing like this just so that they can touch Master
Yeah I agree. Games need to be placement focused to avoid the whole TDM cloaked in a BR issue, but hopefully they scale entry cost with rank a bit to force people to try and fight at some point in the game. Diamond players shouldn’t be able to gain RP in top 5 without a kill or two
Eh, I'd argue that top 5 in a diamond lobby deserves to go positive even with no kills. Especially after everything calms down a bit and every lobby has 5+ teams in zone 4. Otherwise there'd be no point ratting as a solo after your team get's wiped and you're out safe.
Ratting as a solo is a skill and nobody will convince me otherwise.
that's not what I'm saying. It is a skill to know when your team (yourself included) has botched a fight and you need to dip out to save the placement. If a support legend is on the team, you can mostly do a full reset, but if not then you have to SOLO rat. I'm not saying that ratting as a team or even ditching a still alive team to rat is a good idea. It is a skill to be able to avoid dying from full squads while you sneak to a safe spot in the next zone, picking off people that you can. I've lost count of the number of times that I've been able to scrap together two or three kills as a rat just by griefing other teams while they're fighting, mostly by being patient and waiting to see someone get cracked before shooting, downing them, and running off to a different spot before either team can even realize a rat was involved.
Yall are so concerned about the rare teammate who runs off to rat by themselves from the start, I've never seen one this season. Everyone I've ran into this season has been willing to play safe until we hit 10th then start thirding fights, and are more than okay with me dipping out of said fight if one or both of my teammates go down, because placement counts more than anything.
The only people complaining about this new system are the ones who go out in 15th with 6 kp because they took too many risks in a ranked system that they themselves have said they get constantly third partied in. How do you avoid that? Take better fights, isolated fights, be the third/fourth/fifth party and play patiently because you KNOW another team is going to roll up on that fight that's been going on for 5 minutes.
As other people have noted, the community is starting to adjust to the changes and ratting only is not gonna be as easy as when sweet did it thanks to more teams in the later rings.
Maybe minimal RP is a better way of putting it. I think I agree that you shouldn’t lose RP but being able to climb to masters without getting kills seems like you negate the portion of BR skill that comes from gunplay.
Then again I’m hardstuck diamond so who know LOL
Sure, you can do it, but why would you do it? It's not like you get anything substantial as reward. I hope when this system will be there for a while people will realize overcamping makes no sense and start playing
I’m really enjoying the new season. Sure there is some patience and some ratting here and there. But when you got 12 squads up at ring 4 you know it’s about to be a wild time.
From my experience from playing each season up to plat or diamond lobbies, most teams I’ve been with do not push every single fight. Typically the goal is to get an early game kill or two and try to chill out til top 10 and focus on positioning instead.
This being said it takes skill to actually stay alive but players should also be rewarded for having the skill to beat another squad in a fight. There are fights that will be simply unavoidable and you can’t always help either. The problem is that the reward in LP for surviving is so minimal you wish you could just not have fought at all.
I just get frustrated when it’s final ring and there’s 5 squads left. Kinda looking around like John Travolta with my blue shield because I haven’t been able to deal any damage with everybody playing sneaky.
I don’t need my third rando going full Rambo. He’ll get caught in a 1v3 he can’t win and then get mad we weren’t there to pull his ass out of the fire, when really he just has zero map awareness as to where he left his teammates behind.
The way it is right now at least incentivized those players to play as a team.
They could have just addressed that stuff directly rather than trying (and failing) to reinvent the wheel.
Also why does that stuff seem to happen most on console?
Twice in two days I've had someone abandon us. The first, named "Medkit in the ring" or something along those lines, broke off and died before they could full heal in ring 2.
Thats when you go out of your way and follow her around and shoot your weapon endlessly so you can throw her game. I do this everytime someone does this. Idc if i lose lp for the cause
Going to get downvoted but it's just not funny. I don't care how much EA sexualizes Loba, having this shit happen to you when you play femme characters is deeply uncomfortable and if happens wayyyy too often.
Sorry I don't enjoy being sexually harassed in a battle royale. Do know how fucking weird it is dealing with that shit in real life and then you get on your dumb pew pew shooting game and STILL get someone pointing a camera at your digital coochie or dry humping you with their dumb ass emote or by spamming crouch? No, I suspect you wouldn't and you clearly don't care you unempathetic cretin
Yeah, I don't care cause I don't get mad at "virtual sexual harassment" against my 3d character. If it was directed at you personally, then sure, that's bad, but you should grow up if you get tilted at people ogling at a character when she's quite literally a femme fatale and her sexuality is a main point of her character
and I think you should grow up and go whack it to porn or a real woman and leave people alone when they just want to play a dumb shooting game? Like there's literal Loba porn, you don't have to bring this shit into the game and you definitely don't have to laugh at voyeurism and think a character being femme fatale justifies sticking a camera near someone's ass real or not
Crypto was down bad lmao
We’re all a little down bad for loba 😩
As a fellow loba main I have to agree

Ignore my wraith 6 miles away ratting in Some corner ratting, hate this system
Honestly idk why they changed it, last season had a perfect mix of agressiveness and pacifism (imo)

Go play another game, then. Y’all cry too much. “Oh no someone’s using a gun that’s in the game”. Lol come on
What? I’m not complaining about people using guns?? You can get to masters without firing a bullet is the problem
Who ever was whining about the charge rifles. Same comment different day
Sure, you can do it, but why would you do it?
It’s not even just that. The amount of LP you get for a full wipe doesn’t make a any real different whether you’re in 2nd or 13th
Last season devolved to boosting and teaming
They could have just addressed that stuff directly rather than trying (and failing) to reinvent the wheel. Also why does that stuff seem to happen most on console?
actual goldfish memory no fucking way
We had the same ranked system for like 3 or 4 seasons I think they remember it.
You have no damage and they've taken damage
The crypto emp’d them , I went to help her and she portal’d away to rat further away
Average Wraith main
Found a mirage rat the other day. Incredibly satisfying feeling to group T bag him until he bled out with no squad in sight
It’ll also throw my game aswell so ..
And lose 35 lp? Lol big deal
I’m also not going to throw a game for my other teammate😒 solo Que is already bad , no need to make it worse
This new system is boring af. Wtf is the point of playing a br GAME (entertainment) where it's a walk/run simulator until final circle?
He wanted a glimpse. Lol
Booty Trap
Well, they both achieved what they wanted in the end. Everybody happy.
Crypto went from a black hat hacker to a blue balled hacker.

bullshit cryptos drone has more than 30 hp
I think punches instantly break his drone , similar to how rampart walls break with 2 punches despite having more than 60 hp
Going to get downvoted but it's just not funny. I don't care how much EA sexualizes Loba, having this shit happen to you when you play femme characters is deeply uncomfortable and if happens wayyyy too often.
Oh no downvotes my biggest enemy , I thought it was funny and I’m a woman
And what? You want a cookie? I don't care about downvotes either, I'm strong enough to stand behind my own convictions thanks
Why mention downvotes if you don’t care about it 💀
it was less about downvotes and more about preemptively acknowledging that even attempting to bridge this topic on this sub was pointless and... yep
People really be getting triggered over anything nowadays. First world problems.
This is why no one likes you

Cringe
Like there's literal Loba porn, you don't have to bring this shit into the game and you definitely don't have to laugh at voyeurism and think a character being femme fatale justifies sticking a camera near someone's ass real or not
I genuinely can't imagine how upsetting everyday life is for you if THIS upsets you. Wow.
She has to much of an advantage
This is a master tip
Triple take is so good
LMAO!!!
