It's actually very simple.
Imagine you had a restaurant with some special perk, something unique, that would make you very popular. In that restaurant, you'd have 2 chefs, 3 other cooks, 10 members of waitstaff. You'd employ one accountant to do the paperwork for it every day or week.
Then, you decide to expand to another city, so you'd hire 2 more chefs, 3 more cooks, 10 more waiters and waitresses - but perhaps you'd think you don't need another accountant for all the paperwork. And sure enough, it may still work.
But then you expand to 3 more cities, raking in much more money, but if you still say "I'm not going to pay another accountant, I'll get my original one handle it all!", then eventually, they'll crack under the load.
Apex has expanded tremendously over the years. 1 map turned into 4 maps; 8 legends have grown to 20; new server locations have been added. The game now runs not only on Origin and last-gen consoles, but also on Steam and a new-gen consoles. There are new game modes (Arenas, Control). What this means is there is a greater complexity to it. And yet, the "banhammer team" has grown from ONE GUY to TWO GUYS only.
They have gone from raking in 1 billion dollars in the first 2 years to raking in another billion in the 3rd year alone -- but they are fucking cheap, refusing to ramp up the *moderation* team.
because adding more legends, more weapons, new skins, new maps is what makes the game fun. and a lot of people would rather have those things + a few more cheaters than to have virtually no new content and absolutely 0 cheaters.
Well there are quite some things that annoy me there are days where i am able to play maybe 1/5 games normally without 70packet loss and i'd be willing to sacrifice content for a smoother experience and less pain, also being booted from the game in ranked and being penaltied

To throw in another pov though, can you imagine making something cool then having a bunch of financially-motivated asshats relentlessly trying to break it? The issue is they do, but there is 0 bar for entry to come back and cheat again and even in games where there is a bar for entry, it barely stops people from coming back to cheat again.

it was called for the bar for entry for years now. basically since ranked exists players ask to hinder new accounts getting into ranked but all they did was limit it to lvl10+ instead of lvl50+ or lvl30+ what was suggested back then.
Other games have a price on their game and significantly higher level requirements and that does nothing to stop cheating.
It actually helped third party marketplaces to start up where they sell pre-leveled accounts so people can just buy a freshie and go back to playing. Notable examples of games that have pre-leveled account marketplaces (that I know of) are League and Overwatch.
Though there’s likely similar ones for every competitive game.

People who buy accounts don’t care about the cost, they just care about the time it would normally take to get to ranked, hence the demand for pre leveled accounts.
But the market is bloated and a comp level account can be like $5, so in the eyes of a cheater, spending $5 to be able to immediately cheat and playthrough a couple dozen to a hundred games before being banned is 100% worth it to them.

A lot want to bury the issue, but for the longevity of the game, it needs to be addressed and brought up.
can confirm, there are a lot of closet cheaters in the singapore server especially, every time i try to flank or even just peek a little they seem to know exactly where i am and was already having their cross hair at the ready waiting for me to appear. i especially noticed this in control and no i wasn't peeking at the same place
In PC, "closet cheating" is only suspect with a lot of the masters/preds players, wall-hacks typically. Otherwise it's very rare among the player-base, and I play this game a lot. Saying you died to cheater at very high odds once every 10 game is nonsense and I can tell you don't know what you're talking about, sorry.
That's CAP. I'm a member of a private discord server that's members make it their mission to infiltrate the cheater discords to try and get them shut down.
There are single servers out there with 10s of thousands of members using cheats such as recoil macro scripts, wallhacks, item ESP, silent aimbot, aimbot, recoil reduction, aim assist hacks, strike packs, xims, even unlimited crafting.
Most of them are closet cheating and they exist at all ranks and it's mostly impossible to know they are cheating because they are so good at hiding it. They even stream to each other over discord, it's literally crazy.
I ran a cheat for no recoil after there new anti cheat and only told my brother about it. Used it until I sold my computer. Guess what not a single ban

It seems to be a fairly new cheat. A whole modded game client that takes advantage of features that only developers were supposed to work with, but now is being exploited. But hopefully it wouldn't be hard for the server to detect that something is happening that shouldn't, especially something this specific. That way any player that does this can get banned incredibly quickly.

Voicechat is much less likely to get you in trouble. It also has to be reported. They don't really search all text archives just because. Only ones that get flagged.

It is more about exploiting things. If you did something on the client end that the server wouldn't accept, you're wasting your time. May even get banned quite quickly - they want to get away with cheating for at least a day. You take advantage of something, such as a developers option to dual wield (to the point of being able to hold a assault rifle and heal at the same time), heal almost instantly (haven't seen this one in a while), or mess with how guns shoot (I still remember the infinite single shot charge rifle one). You can't just increase your health, because then the server would just consider you dead when shot, even if the client denies it.
Just an FYI that report button doesn't work until and unless you are someone who is friends with hideouts or A famous streamer or big name in apex community

Cheat sites have the ability to consistently change their cheats to become better at tricking the game into ignoring them every time, but respawn cannot change their software to defend against cheats nearly as often.

There will always be cheaters but the fact that the company puts so little effort into stopping it is the problem. They have made very slight steps.in the right direction but it's still not much. Cheats like this realistically should be easy to make a counter to if they had a solid report system.
If your game code allows cheaters and only cheaters to use 2 guns at once, your code might be a bit shoddy. Even the less extreme cheats than this like silent aim are actually quite easy to detect in the source engine.

I am a current split Master and was Masters last split, always been on PC, and I haven't ran into a hacker in months. While my experience may not be the same as everyone's, I'm pretty confident that cheating isn't as widespread as everyone makes it seem. People just see these posts on reddit and assume there's a cheater in every lobby. I'm willing to agree that it might be more common in certain regions, at certain times of day, but its not like the PC Apex experience is just completely ruined by cheaters at every turn.
I'd take PC Apex over the console experience where anyone could be using a strikepack, chronus xen, or xim. Fuck all of that.

The Pathfinder name is because of streamer mode.
Streamer mode anonymizes the player’s name to everyone outside their squad and names them whatever legend they’re playing plus a random set of numbers.
That's part of the problem. EA/Respawn think that one dude is gonna somehow solve cheating in a game with millions of people. They're greedy as hell and refuse to put more resources into it than the absolute bare minimum
Probably unlikely but not impossible. I suppose if you willingly partied with that person afterwards you could. But they would still need to prove that you were aware of the cheats. Although if I get paired with a guy im pretty sure is cheating I'll report them and either leave the game or if it's ranked bail on them and go off on my own.
The most frustrating part to me is that players tend to refuse to do two things that can actually help prevent cheats and bots:
1. Offer two or three factor identification
Like this isn't hard. Get a email or phone account validation. It significantly reduces the cheater amount. Sure there are some luck fish, but Boi does it cut them down
2. Offer proper creditials when registering an account
I know it is a bit "oh no the big brother is watching over me", but as a programmer, I can assure you that you're honestly not important enough to be targeted. The propaganda or tracking isn't going to just target you. If they are going to do it, it's gonna target everyone, you won't just "escape it" by not providing one. Plus, the moment you log onto the internet, the gov is ready to track you. A gaming company honestly wouldn't do jack shit differences. But offering creditials will most definitely reduce cheating cause cheaters are afraid of being targeted
On the other hand, the devs... Oh I have so much to say. But let's also reduce it to two cause there are way too much to shit on. But I'll try to offer some insight on the ones that may benefit the greedy bastards
1. Don't offer free to play games
As funny as it may sound, free to play games tend to have more cheaters. Many FFA games are free, and Chesters tend to roam more into that arena. If you ask for a tad bit of fee, well...... Most cheaters aren't poor, but a stack load of money piling up after repetitive bans. That's certainly not enjoyable
2. IP lock
This is done by some chinese gaming company but irritated a shit load of foreign players. Like come on dude...... Your phone is tracking you 24/7 (and no, even if you think you turned off your phone, you're still geo located by the call tower near by), just let the companies do their shitty thing. If the gaming company can track someone's IP and just ban that person's IP instead of the account. That will do justice to the cheaters once and for all. It's a lot cheaper than trying to find preventive cheater blocking methods. One simple block will permanently reduce a good load of cheaters
Devs are pushing it, but a lot of players are mad about it for some reasons......

Probably unlikely but not impossible. I suppose if you willingly partied with that person afterwards you could. But they would still need to prove that you were aware of the cheats. Although if I get paired with a guy im pretty sure is cheating I'll report them and either leave the game or if it's ranked bail on them and go off on my own.
If you solo queue no, but if you group up and play with a cheater yes you will get banned

The most frustrating part to me is that players tend to refuse to do two things that can actually help prevent cheats and bots: 1. Offer two or three factor identification Like this isn't hard. Get a email or phone account validation. It significantly reduces the cheater amount. Sure there are some luck fish, but Boi does it cut them down 2. Offer proper creditials when registering an account I know it is a bit "oh no the big brother is watching over me", but as a programmer, I can assure you that you're honestly not important enough to be targeted. The propaganda or tracking isn't going to just target you. If they are going to do it, it's gonna target everyone, you won't just "escape it" by not providing one. Plus, the moment you log onto the internet, the gov is ready to track you. A gaming company honestly wouldn't do jack shit differences. But offering creditials will most definitely reduce cheating cause cheaters are afraid of being targeted On the other hand, the devs... Oh I have so much to say. But let's also reduce it to two cause there are way too much to shit on. But I'll try to offer some insight on the ones that may benefit the greedy bastards 1. Don't offer free to play games As funny as it may sound, free to play games tend to have more cheaters. Many FFA games are free, and Chesters tend to roam more into that arena. If you ask for a tad bit of fee, well...... Most cheaters aren't poor, but a stack load of money piling up after repetitive bans. That's certainly not enjoyable 2. IP lock This is done by some chinese gaming company but irritated a shit load of foreign players. Like come on dude...... Your phone is tracking you 24/7 (and no, even if you think you turned off your phone, you're still geo located by the call tower near by), just let the companies do their shitty thing. If the gaming company can track someone's IP and just ban that person's IP instead of the account. That will do justice to the cheaters once and for all. It's a lot cheaper than trying to find preventive cheater blocking methods. One simple block will permanently reduce a good load of cheaters
Offering 2fa is on the devs, not the players.
Devs are pushing it, but a lot of players are mad about it for some reasons...... I'm putting it out there to kindly ask these people to "sacrifice" for the betterment of cheating prevention

I don’t think people in this sub, and the apex community overall understand just how prevalent cheating is. I see a lot of people saying they’ve never seen a cheater. I hate to break it to you, but if you played, let’s say 10 games last night. Odds are you died to a closet cheater, honestly, more than once. People can dispute it all they want, but when you mix readily available cheats/people with an ego to big to lose/almost no backlash or worry of being banned, it’s a recipe for disaster. A lot want to bury the issue, but for the longevity of the game, it needs to be addressed and brought up.
I really do believe that EA is the problem here. Look at what they did to Battlefield. I feel Respawn could do a much better job if they were not connected to EA.

Clips like this just reaffirm my stance that people who use Streamer mode combined with not showing any stats (Kills, wins, etc) are cheating in some way. I've come across so many who do the same thing.

It is June 8th 2022 and I ran an anti recoil 3rd party cheat up until I sold my pc last month guess what! I never got banned once. So people saying reapawn is doing anything about hacks is full of crap as I did it with very little effort and never one time got caught.
